8 Chapter 8

Whenever he had tried to remember his dreams completely he ended up irritated by how little he got, sometimes he had fleeting memories; Other times, they were blurry and confusing and there were days when what he managed to save from his sleep was the bare minimum.

That situation came to put him in a bad mood, not only because he could not find it, but also because of the simple fact that those situations with his dreams began to affect his practices. Today, he could not afford to miss a practice —except when he fell off the motorcycle and wang tian sent him home— he lost that day's practice because of his distraction, if he missed another he would not be an insufficient condition for the world championship.

Just mentioning it irritated him more.

So, on days like this, Ji Syaoran would wake up in a bad mood or eventually the bad mood would take control of himself by not being able to sleep again and not being able to remember.

Qian Yue knew him well enough to know what the good days were and what the bad days were, and whether it was the second option to stay away from his friend so as not to be dragged into the cloud of anger. For this reason, Qian Yue seeing his friend early in the morning decided to leave before he could look at him properly.

Normally, Su Lian would receive him at home after work, but sometimes they would come to the apartment he shared with his friend. Sometimes Yue slept in the living room of his girlfriend's house for work reasons, as her job was closer to Lian's house than her apartment.

Qian Yue worked at a university in Shanghai as a physics teacher, and in his spare time had an extra job as a personal trainer. He had met Su Lian during the university entrance ceremony, three years ago, she was a literature teacher.

He arrived at the university at the same time as always, gave his classes normally, and at the end, left with Su Lian. His day itself had not been heavy at all, his students were quiet and dedicated — at least for the most part — facilitating his work every day of the week. As for Su Lian, his day had not been so wonderful, as he had had to file a report to a group of troubled students.

They arrived home at about 6 PM, prepared dinner and Qian Yue stayed with her until 10 PM.

— And how's the situation with Ji Syaoran's dreams? The question came to his lips faster than to his thoughts.

Yue looked at his girlfriend with a smile on her face and replied:— In your practice pretty well, in your love life it's a mess—. the answer was not to Su Lian's liking.

— Why? Had she not already known who he was?

— Yes, but no

— What? She can search for him or send him a message

— He did, but Ji Syaoran doesn't find that message, and even if he does, do you know how many girls write to him that they are the women of their dreams?

—But he will know who he is when he sees the message.— For a moment her eyes seemed to shine with what Qian Yue supposed was the illusion of a television romance.

— A-lian, you must stop watching so many dramas—. He commented with a loving expression on his face.

— But...

— Imagine how things will be and how they really are, they are completely different things

— But I am sure they will know as soon as they see each other.— Su Lian's expression was tender. Qian Yue hugged his girlfriend gently.

—You're very romantic and dreamy, but hey, let's finish watching the movie.— Qian Yue settled down on the couch, so his girlfriend could lie down on him.

The rest of his afternoon was quite good.

…..

The last round of group practice was simple, by then Ji Syaoran was more relaxed, still thinking about his dream but he was calmer than in the morning when he woke up. He finished his training around 5:30 p.m., but it was delayed a little longer today because of some instructions wang tian gave him at the beginning.

Among other things knowing that Richard was much better, they took a weight off his shoulders, which he didn't even know he had.

Hopefully, their mentor would visit next week.

He was arranging his things to go home when the head of the mechanics, Shinkai Yusei, caught his attention while answering a call, asking him for a moment of his time.

— Hi, thanks for waiting.— Yusei smiled as she came close enough to him. Ji Syaoran denied.

— Don't worry, what's happening?

— I need you to sign this, it's the delivery of your equipment, the new equipment will arrive tomorrow for all the runners, so make sure you arrive early.— Yusei handed him a sheet that he quickly signed.

— That's great, I want to change these gloves.— He said slightly moved you handing the signed sheet.

— Thanks. That was all, rest and see you tomorrow.— He smiled before retiring and looking for Nai Sheng.

As she walked away from him, Syaoran noticed that Yusei was wearing a red helmet with black letters in italics. There were several sentences and short quotes from books, so I could manage to read. The helmet in his hands reminded him a lot of the one he had seen days before.

Unfortunately, he was tired enough to think too much about it, just as there was no way that the vague feeling that settled in his chest would press harder inside, speeding up his heartbeat as if alerting him to something important in front of his eyes.

He looked at the mechanic's helmet for a few more seconds, eventually putting his belongings in his backpack; He put on his helmet and got on his motorcycle.

Ji Syaoran returned home, waiting for the speed to release more of his mind. They were a few days away from the exhibition event and I had to concentrate on it for the moment.

…..

The watercolor pink on her cheeks revealed one more part of her face, leaving visible her nose and cheeks, the only thing that remained to be revealed was her eyes that remained in her mind as an image designed from her imagination and the information provided by the girl next to her.

She looked as beautiful as before and dressed in the same way as in the previous dream, which was abruptly interrupted. Both were in the same place only that under a jacarandas tree, their petals descended to the ground when uprooted by the wind. He was at one end of the tree and she was on the other side, leaning slightly on the bark.

Her smile lit up more than the lights around her, keeping her eyes fixed on her and ignoring her surroundings. Every dream was the same, seeing her was what allowed her to remain in those dreams, even with the risk of never being able to touch her or of never wanting to leave them.

— What country are you from? - he let go without warning, taking his dream partner by surprise.

— I'm from Mexico.— She smiled at him in such a sweet way that it was like her personal mark. Syaoran lowered her gaze feeling the heat expand on her cheeks and a nervous laugh approaching dangerously.

— How old are you?

— 24 years old, my birthday is in February.— He responded by looking up and trying to take some of the purple flower petals from the tree.

— Do you have a boyfriend?—. The question was asked with some degree of difficulty.

She laughed tenderly — Not for now, but there's an actor from your country who invited me out the last time I went —. Her voice sounded a little shy.

— Who?—. He let the question come out of his lips too forcefully. The girl looked at the boy from soslayo, repressing his fun and not embarrassing him any more than he was already.

— Wang Tao Ming.— She answered without much ceremony.

A few days ago she had to travel to China to get everything in order when she moved to Shanghai. During his stay he had a meeting with the executives of the magazine and the previous editor, upon leaving the meeting, accompanied Chang Gao — chief editor of Harper's Bazaar at the time — to a social event where Wang Tao Ming was present.

He was a well-known and well-liked actor in China, originally from Shanghai, he was one of the most popular luminaries of the Asian giant. A kind and attractive man.

Ji Syaoran knew him a little, since Zhao Li Ming, being his friend, had several contacts with actors and idols. Wang Tao Ming was invited to Harper's Bazaar's annual charity gala, where China's biggest celebrities met, and money was raised for charity events.

Two years ago, he was invited to that gala for his participation in the extreme sports documentary, it was there that he met Wang Tao Ming.

— And you are interested in him? —. He asked moving towards him.

— He invited me out and I've been talking to him these days, but I still don't give him an answer. Right now there is someone who interests me very much.— The girl's hand slid through the bark of the tree, managing to take Syaoran's hand.

Seeing the bond between them, Ji Syaoran intertwined her fingers with those of her partner and they both smiled the other way around.

— In a few days it will be my promotion as chief editor of Harper's bazaar, even if you don't know who I am I'd like to see you there.—The girl asked with a little embarrassment, her pink cheeks made her see how difficult it had been for her to ask for that without wanting to hide behind the trunk of the jacarandas tree.

— Mmm, I'll be there.— Ji Syaoran promised firmly. She nodded in gratitude.

—I'll see you there, if you can remember this when you wake up, I'll see you on the right side of the reception.—The girl let go of her hand.

— I'll try to remember

— I'll wait for you. Without letting him say anything else—. The girl left. Ending the dream.

…….

The days passed calmly, the dreams absorbed the anxiety of a new day, the company of the other in a confusing world led them to maintain the tranquility of sleepless nights.

The exhibition event was two days away.

So after the day's practice, Ji Syaoran stayed on the site to go around and practice the tricks that Richard had taught him before his accident. Wang tian, Shinkai Yusei, and Nai Sheng stayed with him for the rest of the day.

— And you're excited about appearing in that magazine?

— No, really, it's not something that interests me very much, but Harper's bazaar wants to give me a little interview about motocross championships and my thoughts on today's extreme sports dramas.

—If you attract more interest in what we do, I'll give you some coffee coupons—. Said her coach without taking her attention away from the papers she had in her hands.

—Let me spend more time here practicing and I'll make sure I have a new sponsor by the end of the month.— Ji Syaoran spoke with confidence. Wang Tian laughed loudly.

—Well, you can practice longer if you want, and I'll give you the coffee coupons too, but get a good sponsor and not one that just starts.— Tian stood up, approaching to check the circuit signs.

— That's a fact—. He said quickly.

— Now why don't you go and break your leg with that 'double backflip ', maybe I'll take your place for the exhibition and it will be more money for me —. Sheng hit his shoulder, Ji Syaoran smiled and started the motorcycle.

—Of course, but the goal is to entertain the attendees - not bore them.— The motorcycle was set in motion before sheng could hit his arm.

Although he did not devote himself to freestyle motocross, he enjoyed doing some tricks in his spare time. And the adrenaline in the air was much greater than a normal run.

It was dangerous, but it was not as if it was deliberately endangered, for the tricks were done with the proper medical backing.

Sheng joined him soon after, only he could do a 'basic backflip ', still, it was great to see a classic, maybe when Richard came back he could teach them some others.

Yusei watched them very attentively, motocross was his favorite extreme sport, not just because of the excitement, but because his father was part of the Japan team. He was a great man and a great runner.

He was thinking about the competitions he attended with his father, being the 2016 X-Games — where Ji Syaoran debuted and won first place— the last event he attended with his father.

Perhaps this is why he felt grateful to Ji Syaoran, for seeing the excitement in dad's eyes, he would surely be one of his first fans.

The mechanic smiled with marked melancholy, remembering the moments with his father still hurt, even when the years passed without stopping for the pain of mortals. He would have sunk into his sadness if it weren't for the people who supported him at the time, his friends and his best friend Renae.

— Hello, miss Joyce.

— Joyce? Why don't you use my real name?

— Oh, sorry. Amalia, what happens?

— Yusei, your girlfriend will drive me crazy if you don't call her in the next few minutes.— Renae's voice was heard with a slight tone of reproach. Yusei hit his forehead with the palm of his hand.

— forget to send her a message this morning

— I had to stop writing the article for the blog, why she didn't stop giving circles in my room

— sorry, I'll call her when she gets home

— Well, how are you doing at work?

— Great, being here is wonderful, I wish my father was here

— He's always with you.

— I know. But hey, guess who's in front of me?

— who?

— Ji Syaoran, right now he's doing some tricks

— I see, I hope he doesn't have an accident, I'd like to meet him before he breaks his face

— yeah, you'll soon

— well I have to leave, Leo won't let me live if I don't finish my job

— okay, so I'll leave you, and thank you for letting me know

— Mm, you're welcome

The call ended, Yusei put his phone in his pocket, observed the practice for a while, and then went back to work.

……

The mahogany door opened to a light-eyed girl, her hair tied in a ponytail, a folder in her hands, and a smile on her face.

—Miss Joyce?—. The girl entered the room.

The woman behind the desk looked up from her computer monitor and smiled.

— Emilia, what's the matter?—. He asked by closing his laptop.

—The meeting is in 20 minutes.— He reminded him.

The woman smiled a little nervously, she had forgotten the meeting that afternoon. She had to submit a whole report about her work as editor-in-chief of that publication.

— Yes, I'll come right away.— He hurried to stand up and take the papers on his desk.— Come on.
