12 Chapter 12

His heartbeat showed how excited he was, every erratic heartbeat he produced was a product of adrenaline going through his skin, his hands tightly attached to the front of the bike, his feet flat on the gray bike pedals he used for the event.

The smile behind the helmet was a remarkable sign of how excited he was to make his freestyle motocross debut, if only this time. He was happy, he felt fulfilled in some way, trying this different form of motocross was certainly one of his goals since he turned 15.

I waited patiently for his turn, without hiding the look of the clue, on the ground in front of his eyes, there were some rres carefully placed on the ground, even though only one will be used for each presentation.

Ji Syaoran, felt his body vibrate in anticipation when he heard his signal, as the emotions caused by the adrenaline rushing through his veins, drove him to smile and to take a brief moment to his mind to continue without falling for the attempt. The purring of the engine tickled him, giving him the necessary concentration to begin.

The motorcycle slid leaving footprints on the ground and a dim cloud of dust as it passed, ji syaoran sped up a bit to climb the ral and do the 'double backflip' that his mentor Richard had taught him. When his mentor mentioned to him about teaching him what he knew about freestyle motocross, he got nervous, at that time he just wanted to continue his brilliant career as a classic motocross rider — if you can call it that — and nothing more, so just then he wasn't totally interested, however, the excitement that ran through him that afternoon when he saw some colleagues and Richard practice the most famous tricks in freestyle, were enough to make him want to try.

The feeling she felt when she saw him was similar to when she first saw him in her teens, wishing she could one day be in a competition in the future. Richard gave him a quick explanation of what was being done on that side of the motocross and the risks he ran in doing so.

Stubbornness to achieve something always defined him, so even with Wang Tian's warnings that he totally disagreed with it, he took his motorcycle and waited for Richard to start teaching him.

The rims of the motorcycle slid easily over the smooth surface of the rra, allowing enough momentum to make the 'double backflip '. The motorcycle rose into the air with Ji Syaoran firmly attached to the handle, waiting for the second turn to have the same grace as the previous one.

His body felt light in the air, it was a unique sensation and for which he was so in love with his profession. As the weight of the motorcycle dropped it helped him land without a problem, the applause and shouts of the audience made him smile.

Still on his motorcycle Ji Syaoran greeted some of the attendees clashing his hands, then approached his companions and did the same, nai sheng waited for him with a proud smile on his face, and as soon as he was within reach he surrounded his neck with one of his arms and with his free hand hit his helmet twice.

Ji Syaoran complained but did not take him away immediately. Both took seats in their respective places, Syaoran took off her helmet and reached for a bottle of water that her coach immediately offered her, starting to drink it as quickly as her fingers rubbed the bottle.

— Well done—.He congratulated Wang Tian with a half-smile.

— Thanks

To be a rookie you did very well. Nai Sheng pointed to his mobile phone so he could watch the video he had taken of his jump.

Ji Syaoran looked at him attentively, delighting in his good presentation, which had really been much better than he had imagined in the days leading up to the event. While it was a difficult trick it was not one of the most difficult or dangerous that existed.

At the end of the video they continued to see demonstrations of other professionals in the extreme sport of motocross, to finish the attendees took a gift bag and participants in the event received some gifts and of course the agreed money.

The event had turned out better than I expected, it was one of the few he had really enjoyed, so when he arrived at the apartment, he told some things to Qian Yue and Su Lian, before going to his room, taking a bath and sleeping.

On the other side of the world, renae spoke on the phone with yusei, who informed her about her work and how happy she was to have attended the event. Although it was too late, Rénae listened attentively to his friend.

— it was awesome, I didn't think I was that good at freestyle. If you had been here you would surely have been scared when he came down. It was incredible.

— Yeah, sounds good

— How was your day?

— Well, I have a meeting at 8 in the morning, it's the last one and it's just to fine-tune some things

— I see, then I'll let you rest, greet Leo and Emi

— I'll do it, take care, see you in a few days

— Yes, I'll see you soon.— The call ended and Rénae went back to bed to sleep a little before getting up to prepare for the meeting.

The few days I had before leaving for China, were to leave everything in order and so that the new editor-in-chief would not have so much pressure from the beginning. Everything was already bogged down, everything was ready for his journey, he only had to finish the little work that was still left.

The next day he met with Emilia to fine-tune some papers for the board, then they went with the executives to the conference room and laid out all the topics to be discussed. At the end, they reviewed the photos they would use on the website.

They would send some last emails, book tickets and talk to the movers. Rénae would meet her new boss via video conference, while Emilia would vacate her office.

— Are you wearing this?—. He raised a small hourglass on his desk. The girl looked at him for a second and hesitated, after a moment she nodded slightly.

— Put everything in a box, and when I get home I'll check it out more calmly.— He asked kindly while preparing everything for his call.

— okay. Hey... have you talked to Leo yet?

— what?

— what are you leaving? He will surely become depressed and then angry.

— he knows, I don't need to talk to him again.— Of course he planned to say goodbye, but it's not the time yet.

—okay. I didn't plan to say goodbye to Rafael's jerk, he has never been interested in me at any time so it won't affect him in the slightest whether I say goodbye or not.

— I think it's okay

— yes... tell me, has this Asian actor spoken to you again?

— who?

— the actor you met on your visit to China

— Wang Tao Ming?

— that one!

— yes, we talked a little.

— and you like him?

— what? No, no, he's just a friend

— really?

— yes, besides, we've only talked a few times, I don't know him very well

— but that has nothing to do with it. Do you like it physically?

— he's attractive, but I won't go out with him, will I?'

— that would be reason enough for me

— I know that, well, I'll go with Leo to see if everything is in order with the number of copies that will be ordered, I'll come back in a while.— Rénae got up from the chair taking her laptop in her arms and walking down the hallway towards Leo's office.

If the relationship with Leo was quite unstable, between the fact that sometimes they got along well and other times they got along badly, everything depended more than anything on the mood of each one, and if they didn't touch another subject that wasn't the work that they did together for now.

Standing in front of his door, he sighed with resignation, surely it would not be a simple thing today, since Leo's assistant had informed him that his boss was not in a good mood today in particular — although, to tell the truth, Leo was not exactly a kind person — it was no surprise that he was in bad shape, he never knew how to be a calm person.

Taking the courage and mustering the patience to deal with it, he gently knocked on the door, entering only when he heard a 'forward' from the inside.

— hey, are you busy?

Hearing his voice, Leo looked up from the computer monitor and nodded without changing the sour expression on his face. Rénae went into the room without making much noise, quickly sitting in one of the armchairs in front of the desk.

— what? He asked a few seconds later, returning his attention to what he was doing before the girl interrupted him.

— we need to talk about how many copies we will order from the printer, we must have an approximate number for the meeting with the sales department.

— okay. This ended and we talked

— okay, I'll wait for you—. He left his computer beside her, and proceeded to pick up his phone to see the comments on the articles posted on the website this morning.

Leo, still typing on his computer, probably a report of his work to his direct boss. Although many did not understand what he was doing but no one dared to ask directly, for fear of infuriating him, in the end it really did not matter much.

Almost half an hour later and two meme videos, Leo finally finished, placing all his attention on the issue of the number of copies of the magazine batch.

As for Leo's work, he was very responsible, punctual and quite good at whatever he did, that's why despite getting 'wrong' renae didn't trust anyone else in the magazine, he didn't hesitate to ask for his advice and follow the ideas he could bring even when it wasn't his job.

They discussed the issue for a while, until an agreement was reached on the approximate number, taking into account last month's sales balance. In this way, they would ensure that unnecessary expenses were not incurred.

— Thanks. Well that's all, I'll let you work.— The young woman stood up, taking her computer and the papers given by Leo.

However, before she could approach the door, Leo stopped her with a question.

— when are you leaving?

— in a few days

— can't you be more exact than that?

—I'll leave next weekend on the morning flight, don't worry, I'll let you know.— Rénae smiled slightly. Leo frowned.

— why did you miss that job? For him or for you?— He interrogated. The acidic tone of his voice told him that his mood was worse than what he heard from his assistant.

— The job is good, I really like it. He has nothing to do with my decision.

— sure? Why will it be a waste of time if he is your biggest motivation to go to China.

— I can assure you not. If I leave it is because it is a great opportunity, not only because I would like to meet him and live with him

— if so, then I have nothing more to say, but if only for that boy…

— Leo

— it will be stupid

— I know that

— I don't agree with your decision but I'm not anybody to get into your life, I just want you to understand the great risk you run in such a competitive country

— I understand, you can rest easy

— well, what are you going to do tonight?'

— today? No, I think not

— okay, dinner with me today, I have to talk to you about something

— work?

— no, it's personal

— Leo, we've already talked about this

— calm down I'm not going to ask you to come back with me, but we have to talk about our brothers

— what about manu?

— you'd better talk about it later and out of here

— ok... then I let you finish the job

— yeah, thanks, I'll pick you up at 8

Rénae left Leo's provisional office, and headed down the hallway to his, on the way she could not be quiet, if something had happened to her brother and involved Leo's younger sister, then they would have some problems knocking on her door.
