1 The City Lights

These days the nights are usually like this , cold and eerie or am I feeling this because I am too miserable ? I thought pulling my hoodie closer to my body .

I was walking for about 30 minutes now but I just didn't wanted to reach home anyways . Today I lost the only job I had at Mrs.Hudson's café . She fired me saying that I was being late for work every single day . I wont deny that , but why cant she just take it into consideration that I am a high school student and I have to finish school before going to her café ?

Whatever , I lost it . It was Luna who suggested that I should go to her house for the party she was having . As much as I disliked parties , I didn't wanted to reach home as fast as I can and face my aunt . So I decided to go . But then one of my friends , Julienne forced me to get my hair dyed . I had no other choice but to comply .So I was going home now looking like a jobless freak , which is certainly what I am .

After few moments that certainly felt like seconds , I reached my doorstep . I raised my hands to press the calling bell but pulled back in double speed realizing the situation I've gotten myself into. I stood there for a second holding the door knob . I took a deep breath and opened the door as quietly as possible .

A mix of beautiful fragrance of flowers and fried bacon welcomed me . My aunt was the best florist in the entire state as far as I am concerned . She was an artist too but I was never able to understand her paintings , they felt more like crooked lines and splash of colors to me while others appreciated its hidden meaning . But still it was a beautiful mess .

I ran in full speed to my room and shut the door quickly behind me . I took off my hoodie and stared at the dressing mirror . My hair was the brightest blue I've ever seen . It had a tint of navy blue here and there . Luna was right . It really did go perfectly with my unusually large blue eyes . But at the moment I just wished it just go away . I planned on taking a shower but the sudden banging on the door made me jump .

" Cassie , come and have dinner "

It was my aunt . I didn't know what to do . I fished out a scarf from my laundry basket and started wrapping around my head .

" I'M COMING . " I shouted as the banging went non stop .

" Better be soon " she said before she went away with a last warning bang .

I went to the door composed myself and threw the door open .
