53 Family Life

Leon was stunned that anyone could survive on that land for more than a year. From the stories His mother told him, it was a land of nightmares, and you would want to kill yourself after a day or two.

"How do you know Uncle Ziggy is still alive," Leon asks, still stunned from the information before.

"Every two years, we drop a care package, and in return, Ziggy always sends us resources from the Dark Continent. Everything you need to know is in this book." Silva said, tossing Leon a small leather-bound book.

Flipping to a random page, Leon looked at the detailed drawing of an explanation of a pebble that could power a house when submerged in water.

And then there was a grain of rice that was possible the answer to immortality. Against his better judgment, Leon started to look forward to the day he could visit the tamed land.

"But why are you telling me all of this."

Silva smiled, "Because you need to start preparing for when you will go to the Dark Continent in ten years."

"Huh!?"

"The entire fate of the family is riding on your shoulders. I know it's a lot of responsibility, but you have the potential to be stronger than all of us."

On that note, Leon left his father's room, still a little stunned. Silva gave him the book so he could study flora and fauna of the Dark Continent.

Retiring to his room Leon picked up Ymir the fat from his bed and placed the cat on his chest. While the cat now was the size of medium size dog, he was still at cuddle size.

"Maybe I could take you with me so I won't be alone entirely, but you're going to have to lose that layer of fat."

Ymir glared at Leon, but he wasn't willing to give up the heat source, so Ymir stayed put. Sighing, Leon opened the book, and he started to flip through the pages absently.

Thirty minutes later, Loen got a text from Machi saying that she had disappeared. Smiling, I replied with a thumbs up and closed the app.

Leon had nothing else to do, so he mostly watched cartoons in his room and played games, something he hasn't done in a while.

The only time he was interrupted was when Milluki walked into his room, hopped on his bed, and started to watch him play games.

After giving the four-year-old, a controller, Milluki started to beat Leon to a pulp in the fighting game they were playing.

Leon tried his damnedest, but his brother chained combos like a pro, always stunning his character. Luckily Leon was saved from further embarrassment when Maid knocked on the door to take Milluki away to train.

-Three Weeks Later-

Leon waited outside the nursery as his mother prepared to give birth. No one was on edge. There had never been any complications during birth in Zoldyck Family history.

After an hour of waiting, Leon was called into the room to hold his baby brother. His same was Killua, and he had the same head of hair as Leon and Silva.

Like most Zoldyck children, he was active, but everyone noticed he had taken a particular liking to Leon. When a maid took him away so his mother could feed him, he cried until he latched on to his mother's nipple.

Leaving the nursery, Leon ran into Illumi on the way out. They spoke for a brief moment exchanging news about their life before going their separate ways.

Before he forgot, Leon grabbed Ymir and introduced him to Mike, and left him in the forest to start training. Like any good parent, Leon knew that some fierce love was required, and Leon didn't have the strength to provide it.

Returning to his room, Leon started to study the book again. He didn't know if he was genuinely going to visit the Dark Continent, but Leon would be damn sure that he would be prepared.

Then Leon got to one page titled the Five Threats flipping the page Leon saw what looked like a giant whole with a mouth with tiny little eyes peering out from the darkness. And outside the mouth dangling like rope were these shriveled up human dolls.

And the text written below read, "A trade-off between life and pleasure"
