78 #77 Survival Test 1

After Hoshinomiya finally decided to leave, Chabashira explained a few more rules about so-called spots and their usage. Only the leader can occupy those spots and each leader will get a custom-made card with their name written on it.

One of the most important things is that bonus points can't be used during the test.

'Hmm, that's quite troublesome, if we don't want to lose any bonus points, we should refrain from attempting to guess the other leaders.' Yuichi thought while holding his chin before he decided to approach the group of students that has finally calmed down from their earlier discussion regarding the toilet.

"Hey, Hirata-kun, can I borrow the catalog for a while?" Yuichi asked in a low voice while others were still listening to Chabashira-sensei explaining additional things.

"Huh? Oh! Sure, take it." Hirata was slightly surprised by Yuichi's sudden appearance but he still quickly smiled and hand out the catalog in his hand to Yuichi.

'All right, ...there it is. A portable toilet, water, canned food, tents,...' Yuichi was looking through the first pages of the catalog and found useful things in there but when he crossed a certain page, content changed from "survival" to "vacation"

'A barbecue, huh? Isn't that pollution in itself? Whatever...I can understand why they said that theme of this test is freedom...we can spend a few days here just like on vacation and when our points will be all spent, we can go back to the ship without losing anything at all.' Yuichi discovered that the last few pages contained mostly luxurious things that weren't that pricey compared to water and canned food. Obviously, if everyone wanted something, the points would disappear in 1 day or 2 at most.

"Everyone, let's do our best! If we can live through this 1 week, we can even become Class C by the end of the summer vacation!" Ike said aloud with an excited expression but it was apparent that the bigger allowance was the thing that was attracting him, becoming Class C was just a little bonus for him.

"Your logic applies only under the pretext that Class C will spend all their points and won't earn any during this entire test" Horikita said with folded arms, although she was glad that they were getting closer to other classes, she kept her head cool.

Seemingly, even Ike's excited expression quickly disappeared when he remembered that fact.

"Anyway, you have to choose one person as your leader, you have time until today's roll call." Chabashira said before she started ignoring them, not to intervene with their decisions.

"May I?" Yuichi raised his hand which made Chabashira look towards him and nod her head.

"Is this like a monarchy where the leader is the only one who can buy items listed in the catalog?" Yuichi asked with a curious expression.

"It is up to you what kind of form of government you will use. However, you can buy things only with the leader's key card. Good luck, everyone" Chabashira replied and when she saw that no one else raised their hand, she wished them luck and once again started ignoring them.

"Alright, let's talk about everything else once we find one of those spots! The other classes are already on the move so we can't lose here!" Ike was quite in high spirits as if he was even looking forward to this kind of camping outside. He immediately went towards their stuff as tents and other necessities and tried to take one tent but he was unable to even lift it a few inches above the ground.

"Grrr, what kind of tents are these?!" Ike yelled while trying his best to lift the tent.

"Tents weigh around 15 kilos, so be careful, please. It would be unfortunate if someone got hurt even before selecting the leader, you would have definitely set the record." Chabashira quickly warned Ike before he could do anything stupid.

When Ike heard this information, he quickly distanced himself from the tents while throwing a look at Sudo as if he was saying "please"

"Jeez!" Sudo rolled his eyes and grabbed the tents without any problem which made Ike drop his jaw down, thinking how he will never provoke Sudo ever again.

"Wait a minute everyone, I would like to ask everyone something, please." Yuichi stopped his classmates from moving away from the beach since they were already the last class on the beach and it would make it a convenient place to discuss things.

*Thud* Sudo put down the tents and everyone else paid attention to Yuichi.

"Alright, first of all, I would like to ask if there is anyone who is not feeling well. Please be honest, you don't have to afraid to cause us problems since it might even turn to be good to have a sick person here." Yuichi said something which completely confused everyone as they knew that sick person must retire in case their condition turn really bad.

On the side, Chabashira who was ignoring their discussion couldn't help but glance towards Yuichi when she heard his strange question.

His classmates started talking between themselves, asking each other with a confused expression.

"Um, Iwamura-kun, I don't think anyone here is feeling ill. Anyway, why would it be a good thing in case someone was really sick?" Hirata replied after a quick discussion between his classmates.

"I see...nevermind, it was just a foolish question. I just didn't want to put pressure on such a person and I wanted to know in case someone like that is here so we can take care of them better." Yuichi replied with a friendly smile, however, a few people would definitely see through his act.

'Is she sick or was I wrong? Maybe she just doesn't want to say it aloud, it would practically make her useless and some people might even laugh at her considering how overbearing she usually is at school...There is also a chance that her sickness is in the beginning stages so she doesn't feel that bad.' Yuichi thought while glancing at Horikita's kinda sour expression.

"Anyway, we need to do something about the toilet first. I am adamant about purchasing a normal portable toilet." Shinohara said with folded arms and many girls agreed with her. For the girls, the toilet issue was probably greater than the issue with water and food.

"Wait, wait, wait! That's 20 points! Can't you just bear with it for 1 week? Is it that hard?" Ike immediately refused to side with them and some of his friends and other guys agreed but most of the boys didn't really care about the toilet. Some of them might side with girls just to score some points with them but it would still ultimately split the entire class.

Shinohara immediately replied aggressively by using Hirata's name as a shield but Ike on the other hand questioned why he should be the one deciding what to buy or not when there isn't a leader yet.

Even Yukimura arrived as Ike's back up, feeling a bit pressured, Shinohara turned her sight towards Yuichi who was just standing around, taking in the sights of the beach.

"Iwamura-kun, say something to them, please!" Shinohara plead Yuichi for his help which in turn woke him up from his daydreaming.

"Huh? Can you bear with it for at most 1 day?" Yuichi asked with a curious expression.

'A cardboard toilet is in itself might prove unsanitary and bad for morale, after all, we are to live here for one week and some might say that a toilet is a small matter but each day, everyone's motivation, morale, and mental health will drop and if we were to add up other stressful things, there might be a lot of people falling sick just out of stress. At least, a toilet is a practical thing.' Yuichi thought and couldn't understand why they were so adamant about spending 20 points on something practical that will last for the whole duration of the test.

"Eh? I mean...We can, I guess, but what about then?" Shinohara looked around and other girls nodded their heads with uncomfortable expressions.

"Horikita-san, you can explain" Yuichi said with a mischievous smile and everyone turned at Horikita which made her narrow her eyes at Yuichi.

"Horikita-san?" Hirata called her name out since she wasn't saying anything and just glaring at Yuichi.

'I guess she doesn't want to talk...why is she so persistent when it comes to climbing up the classes but when she has to take action, she acts so reserved?' Yuichi knew that Horikita must have thought about something but she has yet to share it with everyone so he tried to force her to say it but it seems like she has no intention to be used like that.

"Alright, I will say it. First of all, we should decide on our strategy for this survival test before buying anything." Yuichi said and everyone turned their sights back at him.

"Strategy?" Yukimura questioned while holding his chin with a thoughtful expression.
