Walk Full of Thoughts

~

Enzo slid the headgear off and unzipped the suit slowly while still laying down on his bed.

He took a few minutes to get acclimated to his earth body again before standing up.

'I think I'll go for a walk.'

It had been a while since Enzo left the house and he was starting to feel like a recluse.

Well more like a recluse than he previously was…

Enzo took a shower and put on clean clothes before leaving the apartment. Enzo wore a plain black T-shirt, blue jeans with a few small rips in them, and white low top shoes.

It usually wouldn't be jeans weather this late in the year in California, but as it was currently 6 am Enzo had no problem wearing them outside. It would still be relatively cool outside until a few hours from now.

Ivan was still in his room, so Enzo informed him that he was going for a walk through text message.

Enzo walked down the four flights of rusted metal stairs at a slow pace. The whole apartment building was starting to get more and more dirty with each day because there was no one to clean it anymore. The metal was rusting, the floors had both dust and dirt on them, and the walls needed to be cleaned weeks ago.

All of the cleaners quit their jobs a few weeks ago when they realized they could possibly make money from Legends Reborn Online.

Sadly for both them and their previous employer, none of them had even made more than a gold coin yet from the game, even after weeks of effort.

This type of situation was happening all over the world at the moment because of the popularity of Legends Reborn Online.

Just a few days ago Extant released the news that Legends Reborn Online reached record breaking highs in concurrent players. Over 500 million players were all playing the game at the exact same time.

That number continued to grow exponentially and is now at 800 million. Soon the game would reach 1 billion concurrent players! All of this is taking into account the charging times of the different headgear that cause players to not all be able to play at the same time.

Gold headgear players were on a completely different schedule than the silver and bronze players. Even so, these types of numbers are unprecedented for just a video game. Before this, the highest concurrent players for any video game was 100 million and it happened 10 years ago to a popular battle royal game. With everyone playing Legends Reborn Online, the hype continued to grow every day and more people became interested in playing it full time.

The problem of people quitting their jobs will soon become a huge problem, but for now the governments of the world have yet to come up with a solution.

Enzo didn't feel the need to worry about all of this stuff as he was financially secure at the moment because of the game. He had over $20,000 USD worth of coins on his account at the moment. Unless something happened to the coins system then he would be okay for a while, so Enzo decided to just focus on his walk.

Enzo felt the cool summer breeze on his face as he walked towards the campus park.

The early morning light had started to peak over the tall college buildings just a few minutes after he started his walk, so the scenery was much more beautiful than usual.

The streets were usually somewhat busy even at this hour, but the college town now looked more like a ghost town.

There were cars lined all down the street, but none of them were moving.

Many shops and stores had 'closed' signs covering their windows or doors.

Enzo was even worried he might see a random tumbleweed roll through the street if he stayed outside for long enough.

Most people might find this atmosphere depressing, but Enzo did not.

It was surprisingly more peaceful this way for him. He felt he was finally getting a break after a hectic month of effort.

When he first started playing Legends Reborn Online he just expected to play it a few hours every day and just for fun. He always planned to take it seriously, as becoming the number one player wouldn't be possible if he was only playing for fun, but that seriousness was now multiplied by tenfold.

Not only did he want to be one of the best players to play the game, but now he wanted to be able to make a living off of it as well.

The game could offer both fun and wealth, something Enzo wasn't going to pass up for the world.

Many rich people say things like "Money doesn't buy happiness", but as someone who grew up poor and was caused a lot of unhappiness because of it Enzo knew how much that saying was bullshit.

Money may not buy happiness, but it could buy plenty of things that could bring happiness.

However, this doesn't mean he is one to take things for granted. If someone were to ask Enzo if he would trade his friends, his memories, or anything sentimental for money then he would say no without any hesitation.

Enzo closed his eyes and took a deep breath of fresh summer air before letting it out.

"Ssssssss. Hahhhhhhh!"

He sat down on one of the benches at the park after he finally reached it.

Enzo looked around at the slightly overgrown grass, the deep green trees, and the lake in the middle of the park and felt at peace.

Usually there would be dogs running around and other humans chasing them even at these early hours, but today Enzo had it all to himself.

Or at least, that's what he thought.

"It's her…"
