chapter 1

The bright morning sun sent down its glorious glamour upon the great kingdom, Orion. as the people were going about their daily activities, the whole place bustling with activities.

Orion a kingdom known for its greatness and this was because of the one man who ruled over the kingdom. A man of great valor and strength perhaps unmatched in the whole of Assyria.

He sat on his large throne, one befitting for a king of his might. His long jet black hair cascaded over his shoulder and his sharp piercing eyes with deep shade of indigo stared down on those who knelt before him.

Despite his domineering presence his aura carried great care and love and his large smile brought warmth and hope to those who looked at him.

"Xavier, speak or do you plan on kneeling there till dawn?" His calm voice echoed in the throne room.

" If I may then, Lord Garmond" The one named Xavier asked and with a simple hand gesture from Garmond he spoke; "My lord, the lords of the east and west have arrived for the grand meeting and they await your presence"

"I see, please inform them that I would be joining them in a few seconds" he said as he stood up, soon heading out of the throne room.

As he neared the grand door the two guards quickly made haste to open the door. Stepping out into the large hallway he heard the sudden shout that quickly caught his attention.

"Dad!!" A small little boy who seemed to be of the age 7 shouted as he ran up to Garmond for a hug.

"Come here my boy" Garmond said spreading out his hands for a hug, he pulled him in then threw him up, catching him mid air and then gave him a tight hug.

The boy looked at his dad with much admiration, that his blue eyes couldn't stop glimmering.

Following right behind the little boy was a middle aged woman dressed in a long white gown which matched perfectly with her long black hair and her sea blue eyes that held the calm of the sea.

Perhaps one could tell her position by the crown she had on her head. She gracefully walked towards Garmond.

" I think you should go for the meeting now, the lords are all keeping angry faces" she said as she planted a kiss on his lips.

"Well I think they can all wait a while longer " He replied with a smirk as he returned a kiss back.

"You seriously don't want to start that now, do you?" She asked rolling her eyes.

"Why would I?" He replied smiling wryly while scratching his head.

"Well I'll be waiting to hear what they say to you" She said "Come Gary dad's got something important to do now" she said gesturing the little boy to leave his dad and come to her. "No mom, I wanna go with dad!" He retorted.

"But he is...." She was left midway into her sentence before Garmond cut her off "Do you really want to come with daddy?" He asked the little boy who quickly nodded in affirmation.

"Then of course you can" Garmond said with a smile, which made the young boy smile too.

"Yaaa" he screamed out in joy, he'd always wanted to be by his father's side but he couldn't because his dad was always out on important tasks, he was happy he finally had the chance to spend some time with his dad.

Since he was a kid he'd always hear about the great strength of his father and that was what brought about the great admiration he had for him.

"You might actually end up spoiling the little boy Garmond" Theresa said with a chuckle.

"Let me breath, he's my child what other time can I have a fatherly time with him, if I keep shoving him off the side?

"That's fair so I'll let you do what you want to do just this time, but next time Gary is gonna be coming with me"

" Yeah I'm sure I'll be the one who gets to decide when the time comes" Garmond said with a smile

"What'd you say?" She asked holding the sides of her waist with her hands, while at the same time raising a brow. Seeing her reaction Garmond couldn't help but burst out into a sudden chuckle.

"I'm not joking", she said with a serious expression, serious enough to make Garmond gulp down his laughter.

"Mom, leave dad alone". Gary interrupted.

Hearing her son's voice, she took a deep breath then said "You don't have time to be sticking around, you should be going.

I'll be in the room, tell me what the sudden visit was for when you come back"

"Oh sure, I'll make sure I do" Garmond replied and with that the two couples went their different ways.

Walking through the large hall way Garmond increased his pace pondering to himself.

'what brought about the sudden visit, it's been a while since the lord of the east and west came for a visit..... Or did something bad happen? He questioned in his thoughts.

Meanwhile little Gary had a large smile on his face as he followed his dad.

Reaching the meeting room the door suddenly swung open and in front of him stood a man wearing a brightly colored golden robe.

The man looked to be in his late fifties, one could easily tell from the gray hairs and the wrinkles on his face, he seemed to be almost neckless because despite his age and this was because of how fat he was.

His hair was bowl shaped and of course a mix of gray and black. Displeasure could be clearly seen on his face.

"Took you long enough Garmond, do you know how long we've waited here, I was just about to come call you myself" The man said

"I'm really sorry for the inconveniences I was just on my way to come meet you guys"

The old man wanted to say more but he knew he couldn't, perhaps he might just push his luck and he didn't want that to happen especially when they needed his help with something.

Looking at Garmond for a second, he noticed the small figure wrapping his hands on his legs.

With disdain in his eyes he asked, "What's the meaning of this Garmond, don't tell me you intend to bring a child into our meeting" The man raised his voice in alarm.

"And what if I want to?" Garmond asked in a cold voice. His aura of kindness totally disappeared now the aura he emitted made him feel more like a predator about to pounce on its prey.

The old man swallowed a mouthful of his spite, he knew very well than to anger Garmond.

He was a man of battle and a great warrior at that, but he'd always act kindly towards everyone.

That was why the council felt he was perhaps too naive and they could easily use him to do their dirty works. This was the first time he'd lashed out especially in front of them.

Unbeknownst to them he had grown to be too overprotective when it came to his family and couldn't stand any insult thrown towards any of his family members.

"Gerald, I think that's enough, we came here to ask for his help, it wouldn't be right to cause a scene here" Another young looking man who was already seated in the hall said.

He had a plaited long black hair that had stripes of red.

A sharp amber eyes and a calm look that made it hard to read his expression.

He wore a red robe which carried the known emblem of the east.

Ignoring the one named Gerald, Garmond entered into the room.

Their was a large round table situated at the center and guards from the different kingdoms standing by the walls next to the candle stands that smoldered brightly, lighting the room.

Taking a seat, although they'd already sour his mode he asked " Now tell me, What brought about this august visit?" He questioned.

"We have noticed an uprising, the outlanders are revolting against the empire, they do not want to join with the empire, and yet keep leaching on our goods and food stuff we purchase from the northern empire." The young man said cutting straight to the point.

Hearing the people in the room speak with his Dad Gary couldn't quite understand what they were saying and he didn't really like the tense environment.

"How could they carry men cladded in full body armor for a meeting?" He couldn't help but ask himself. Were they perhaps afraid of hid dad.

The thought of this alone peaked his admiration for his dad all the more.

"And what role do I have to play in all of this?" Garmond asked knowing quite well what they wanted him to do.

"Well earlier, King Castan sent Aamon one of his generals to ask why they have been stealing our goods, but so far the general hasn't returned and neither has any of his soldiers.

By king Castans orders you are to go to the outlands and ask them what happened, if they do not provide an answer you are to eradicate them all" he added.

"Hmmm, I will play along again just this once but if something like this is to happen again tell Castan I'll be of no support at all, I have tried my best to maintain peace but it is not forth coming." He said angering Gerald all the more.

"How dare you, how could you speak the king's name so casually. I must tell this to the king what an insult. You feel like no one can hurt you because you've been given the honour and respect of a great warrior.

Who the you think you are! What makes you think you have the right to insult the king"

Garmond looked him in the eye, you can go tell the king, I bet he'll be glad to hear you but you won't be doing that in my kingdom will you?" He asked with a ferocious glint in his eyes.

"I... H..ave heard enough of this nonsense" Gerald said stuttering his words "I'll let the king know immediately" he said, as he Stood up and left the meeting room.

"Please I'm sorry on his behalf" the young man said, "Maybe he woke up on the wrong side of bed today, I'll go talk to him" he added.

"I don't mind it's just a trivial matter, don't worry he'll get over it" Garmond replied.

"Please do consider the king's request, you can call me anytime you need to" the latter said before taking his leave too, leaving only the father and son duo in the large room alone.

"Dad why do you fight?" Gary suddenly asked.

"Huh" Garmond replied shocked by the sudden question.

"Hmmm, why I fight?" He paused for a while to ponder in his words. " Son listen to this story carefully.

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.

All claimed that they were the best the most important. Green said "clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, tree's and leaves.'

Blue interrupted: "you only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. "

Yellow chuckled "You are all bot serious. I bring laughter, gaiety and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow.

Orange started next to blow her trumpet " I am the color of good health and strength."

Red could stand it no longer; it shouted out " I am the ruler of you all. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery.

Purple rose up to his full height: he was very tall and spoke with great pomp, "I am the color of royalty and power, king's, cheifs and lord's have always chosen me.

"Hey that's not true" Gary cut in, making Garmond give a slight chuckle before he continued.

"Shh, the story is yet to end and we are about to reach the interesting part" he said.
