Tower

The battle thus far had been difficult and intense. In the beginning I had allowed the moon goddesses warriors the ability to run wild in hopes that they would easily win. The Sun god's chosen had proven to be a difficult obstacle to overcome, leading even that scary shapeshifter to his demise. Something was off about the enemy commander, though I couldn't place it.

The way of the world states that you must step on someone to get ahead, which is precisely what I did. I had dragged myself through the ranks, no matter the cost. The constant betrayal, scheming, conniving behavior had begun to take a toll on me. This latest command to kidnap Legend was the final straw that had made me snap.

I just couldn't...be that person anymore.

So I decided to try something new. I was just honest with them. Such a simple thing, yet so difficult to actually do. The whole time my mind was screaming for me to stop, to make up some lie or excuse.

Somehow...honesty worked.

We became a temporary team and finally began to push forward. Myth quickly managed to kill the enemy beast-master and his pet, seemingly in the same moment. This began to turn the tide of the battle to our favor. The shape-shifting druid had the most unusual and dangerous class I had ever seen. He could fluidly shift between powerful forms that were fused with the power of the green life dragon. I was thinking about this as Myth shifted into a literal dragon and claimed to have a fire-stone, which basically blew my mind. His plan was to drop it on Legend's opponent, giving him an opportunity to take down the anti-mage. It wasn't a bad plan, so I decided to help him.

I opened my mouth to speak but faltered, for the most beautiful woman I had ever seen was suddenly standing next to me, watching the battle. She had pale glowing skin, with remarkably perfect features. Everything about her from her head to her toes was gorgeous in every way. She emanated beauty, dignity, and power.

The moon goddess...

She turned to look at me, her, azure blue eyes piercing deep into my soul as she spoke with a soft melodious voice, " Yes, it is I. I have been watching you, the one they call Tower, or should I call you Shalon Lee. "

It felt as though my heart stopped. This was a game...right?

I could barely speak, "How...do...you know my real name?"

The goddess smiled ignoring my question , "I have decided to let you be one of my chosen warriors, which will bestow new powers upon you, but I have conditions. "

A chosen warrior! Most war games have something similar and I knew that those who were lucky enough to be chosen would have their lives changed forever.

The goddess held up a single perfect finger, "First, I will need you to resign your position as guild leader as soon as this battle is complete. You must accompany my other four warriors and assist them in their quest to purify my world. "

I frowned and shook my head. " As awesome as that sounds, that would violate my contract, and are you sure this is the best time to talk about this, we are in the middle of a battle..."

My voice trailed off as every single thing I could see stopped moving completely. It was like she had frozen time altogether, but was that even possible? Fire-balls were stuck mid-animation, arrows floated in the air as the players stood motionless. The instant silence was broken by the sound of the moon goddess laughing. "Are we now? Now about that contract. "

A regal looking document rolled out like a scroll in front of her, floating in the air. My name was signed at the bottom.

How had she gotten that?

She smiled and nodded, " It's done. The amount you would have received upon completion of your current contract has been deposited into your account, plus a sizable bonus. Now, anymore complaints before you hear the second condition?"

"What about the others? Don't they have contracts?"

The goddess beamed at me, "I was right to choose you. You are very smart. Top of your class, IQ of 165, you are a brilliant one. I digress..."

She waved her hand and three more contracts appeared before her. "Done. Now let's get rid of these annoying things."

With a flick of her wrist, the contracts ripped in half and disintegrated.

In that moment I felt a huge weight lift off of my shoulders. I was free. I felt like jumping and skipping for joy like a little kid.

The goddess held up two fingers and spoke, " You are not completely free. Second, you will be required to keep Myth on track. He is essential. I need someone I can trust, and the bonus money is sizable enough to guarantee this. Myth may be the son of a wealthy man, but he is also a paraplegic. He is the one person in this world that I am unsure of. I need you to make sure his goals line up with mine. Now do you accept?"

Before I could respond, the sun fell from the sky and stood before me as a man. His form was the personification of flame itself.

The Sun God had appeared.
