157 Preliminaries

The next day, the Johto League Championship had officially started. There was a large crowd there as they had all bought tickets or VIP passes to show up and cheer on their favorite trainers while others just came for the support or to watch a fiery battle.
For the first-round battles, everybody had to face off against a bunch of no-names. Liam didn't even try. His opponent was called Rim. It was a two on two battle. Rim had brought out a Scizor and Mareep. Liam could only laugh because after checking their levels, he noticed that they were only at level 70, and thought, 'This Championship run was going to be an easy one just like the Kanto one'.
He was going to keep himself a mystery by only bringing out Tyranitar. When Rim saw that Liam was only bringing out one Pokemon. He was confused by this and thought that Liam was mocking him as he got angry and said, "You'll regret going easy on me". Tyranitar didn't even face the Pokémon when he came out. He just looked away from them as if not even putting them in his eyes. This had angered the two Pokémon facing him.
And this round, everybody was only allowed to use two Pokémon, and after the two Pokémon had been defeated, they were eliminated. That was the rule, but Liam had other plans.
To hide his identity, Liam had put on a mask once again so that he wouldn't have people following him all day and night, but most of the trainers knew who he was. The battle started as Mareep and Scizor charged in. Mareep was going to be the backup supporting Scizor from the back while he charged in and used Slash.
The attack hit Tyranitar, but Tyranitar didn't move. He did not even have a single scratch on his skin. Scizor was surprised by this and so was Rim. Then he started giving out more commands like Agility, and Double Team. Scizor split into five while he used Metal Claw, but Tyranitar still didn't budge.
Mareep used Thunderbolt, but even that didn't do anything to Tyranitar as he was yawning while being shocked with electricity. Scizor used X Scissor. This attack also didn't do any significant damage, so he used Iron Head. Scizor then turned his head into iron as he charged towards Tyranitar , but Tyranitar had had enough and he caught the head of Scizor and Spun him around then threw him into Mareep. They crashed and fell out of the stage.
When the referee saw them down the stage, they had both fainted and he declared Liam as the winner. Cheers could be heard as the whole crowd erupted. Rim was surprised that Tyranitar was able to defeat both of his Pokémon without even breaking a sweat and under one attack which didn't make sense to him. He wondered what level Tyranitar could be, but he didn't have time to think as he had to return his Pokémon and take them to the Pokémon Center to get healed by Nurse Joy.
Tyranitar returned to his Poke ball as Liam made his way off the stage while waving to the crowd. The announcer announced the end of the battle as he said, "Mr. E has just won his first battle. Let's give a round of applause for him" as everybody cheered for Liam.
That was the name that he was going to be using during this Championship run, which sounded very similar to the writer of this novel. (Author: hehehe)
When Liam got into the tunnel, he spotted Gary as Gary said, "It seems like you've gotten a lot stronger and that Tyranitar of yours is going to be trouble. Still, I have something to counter that guy since I've been defeating most Tyranitars in Mt silver."
Liam had forgotten to visit Mount Silver after grabbing the last badge, but he would just do that after winning this championship. He wondered what will be in store for him over there, but if Gary could go over there and train then that means that it probably wasn't going to be worth it even to visit there. But still, he remembered that in the game Red was located at the top and was considered the last boss in the Silver version.
But the Red he knew right now was the complete opposite and was relatively weak, so he wasn't too sure if he would be able to put up a fight.
