159 Good Battle or Not

After pulling a few strings, Zane was able to finally get the information on Liam's room as he nervously went to knock on the door.

Knock, knock, knock.

Liam wondered who would be knocking on his door so late as he got out of his meditation to answer the door. The others were asleep, so he quietly made his way towards the door. When he opened it, he was slightly surprised as he asked Zane,

"What are you doing here?"

Zane looked at Liam funny because he didn't know what he looked like since he had his mask on during the match, so seeing his face now upfront, confused him a little because he looked familiar.

"Yes, can I help you, sir?

Oh, I'm sorry, but you look familiar. Have we met before?"

Liam didn't want to give out his identity, so instead he said, "Oh, I've probably been in a commercial before and you saw me on there."

Zane nodded his head in agreements as he asked, "Can we talk somewhere private?"

Liam nodded his head as he wondered what this guy would want from him and how he found out where his room was, but either way, he left everything behind and shut the door behind him.

Zane thought it was funny that he didn't take any of his poke-balls because he saw them sitting on a table.

When he investigated the room, he thought "How could this guy be so trusting to follow some stranger that he doesn't know without any Pokémon to defend him, if I was to do anything?"

He had no clue that Morteon and Shadow were within Liam's shadow hoping that Zane would try something against their master.

Looking at Liam, Zane thought, 'It would be easier to just take the money from this guy, especially after seeing the room that he stayed in.' But he shook his head as he had a bad feeling that he shouldn't try him, and he just told him the truth.

They had finally reached the rooftop as Zane said, "First of all, I respect you as a trainer, and I could tell that you're powerful since you did battle one versus two and still blew me out of the water."

Zane then continued, "I need your help taking down a particular group that is harassing me." Liam was interested as he asked, "What's the name of this so-called group that's harassing you?"

Zane told Liam everything about the loan sharks and how Team Shadow had taken over and is taxing everybody and everything for all that they had.

Liam was now quite interested in this Team Shadow as he'd heard this name again after forgetting about it and couldn't wait to meet them. Now that they were within the same city, he'll be able to get more information on them.

Zane saw Liam was quiet as he figured that Liam would probably deny his request, but suddenly, Liam said, "Yes, fine, let's do this, but I'm going in alone. Is there any way you can get in touch with those loan sharks again?"

Zane shook his head and said, "No, but after 24 hours, they will meet up with me for the money that I owe them."

Liam nodded his head in understanding as he said, "Okay, give me a call when it's about that time, and I'll go with you." Zane panicked a little bit as he said, "One of the loan sharks has a level 150 Pokémon. I don't think you'll be able to take him out."

Liam heard this and just nodded his head as he said, "Don't worry about that. I'll take care of them."

While Zane was getting excited as he thought his instincts were right to ask this guy for help. He does not even get scared of facing off a level 150.

"Okay, I got to get some rest because I have a battle early in the morning, sadly." Zane thanked Liam for meeting up with him, and they went their separate ways as they were supposed to meet up in a few hours.

In the morning after having breakfast, Liam went to the stadium for his next battle. There were not a lot of people since it was early in the morning, and these battles weren't as important. Liam's next matchup was against a youngster named Joey.

Liam laughed when he saw Joey bring out his two Pokémon. It caused Liam to laugh, even more. His Pokémon were Pidgeotto and Raticate. They were both at a level 70. Liam smiled and just tossed up one of his poke-balls as Tyranitar came out.

Joey pointed at Liam and asked, "Where are the rest of your Pokémon? Is it going to be two versus one? If so, this is going to be an easy win for me."

Liam just smiled and said, "Okay, so what if it's one versus two. What are you going to do? Go ahead and make your move. I'll let you battle against my Pokémon. I won't even give him any instructions."

Joey laughed when he heard all of this as he said, "Okay, I'm going to take this easy win and keep moving forward to be a Pokémon Master."

Liam nodded as the battle started.

Both of Joey's Pokémon used quick attack as he said, "Let's finish this quickly."

Joey gave out his commands as they both went full speed and slammed straight into Tyranitar, but Tyranitar just stood there and dug his finger in his ears as if wondering what just happened.

Joey's mouth was wide open as he thought his defense must be adamant. Then he said, "Okay, let's try a different approach, Pidgeotto use Wing attack, Raticate use Crunch."

Both Pokémon went in and used their special attacks, but once again, it didn't even cause a scratch on Tyranitar's hard-like skin as Joey was beginning to wonder whether this was going to be an easy win or not.

In that moment of thought, he had gotten distracted as Tyranitar opened his mouth and unleashed a powerful Hyper Beam causing them both to faint as the announcer announced the end of the battle.

Joey started crying as he said, "No, fair your Pokémon was too powerful, and you didn't even tell me."

Liam laughed and said, "What did you expect when you came to this tournament? For everybody to be friendly and to hand you easy wins? Go back to the drawing boards and train even more. You're still young, so don't get too cocky."

Joey had never been that defeated. He had always gone through life breezing through battle after battle using his high-level Pokémon to take advantage of others, but now that he had met his match. He had no way of winning this battle off the field and on the field.

Liam just walked away after as he said, "Good battle or maybe not" causing Joey to slump down even more.
