After many altercations, during which Rodrick assured him that his body would be revived after every reincarnation mission, the boy finally agreed to let them dose him.

Doctors injected him with a substance called Dramil extract, which induced an almost death-like condition. Dramil was directly derived from the resins of the Yggdrasil tree. Consuming the same made the human soul fluid and easily transferable.

The process was required for Pete to be reincarnated in Nottingham as Robin Hood. An elaborate monitoring system existed in the facility to seamlessly introduce and remove him from the fantasy world. Apparently, this was rarely done since Hero Surrogates always arrived after their deaths.

When the coma struck him, Pete felt like he was dunked underwater. He sank down a dark bottomless lake.
