Chapter 38: Medical Trainers and Exchange

3rd POV:

The next after the meeting, Team One led by Tsunade went to a big room that can hold over a thousand people. Here, the training for both the Basic and Advanced Medical Courses will commence. Both Kakashi and Shizune will be part of the trainers for the Advance Medical Course. Kushina on the other hand is teaching the Basic Medical Course. Though Kushina's progress in medical ninjutsu is quite large, it is still not enough to teach it to other people. There are also some medical ninjas that came from the hospital who will also teach at both Basic and Advanced Courses to the ninjas present.

Many ninjas are present because the Hokage ordered them and is said to be required so they can continue being ninja. But what's surprising is that many Hyuga clan members participated. In fact, almost half of the ninjas present at this time are from Hyuga.

Many were chattering to their fellow ninja and if one listens carefully, you can hear some conversations saying how useless this project is. At this time, Tsunade went to the stage to introduce herself and give a speech. But when she heard these conversations, she can't help but be angry and so, she slams her fist to the stage and it broke into pieces. All the chattering and noise were cut off and the debris of wood falling on the ground is the only thing to be heard.

"I am Tsunade Senju, granddaughter of the First and Second Hokage, a disciple of the Third Hokage and one of the Legendary Sannin. I heard some of you talking about how useless this project is so let me tell you how valuable it is. During the Second Shinobi War, the Puppet Corps of Sunagakure developed a huge amount of poison and infused them into their puppets. Many have died because of the poison but do you know what saved some of them? It is my medical knowledge and antidotes that saved them. If I did not know how to make those antidotes, there may be no Konoha now at this moment. At that time I am only alone, but imagine if there are even three or five of us. We could have saved more lives."

All of them were shocked at the probability of what would have happened if more medical ninja were present at that time. Many ninjas present have lost their loved ones due to the poison develop by Suna, especially by Chiyo.

"Also, do you know the mortality rate of an injured ninja? It is fifty percent. But when we saw the corpse of those ninjas, we discovered that many of them could have survived if only they were treated, even if it's just first aid. Now let me ask you all, do you still think that medical knowledge is useless? And if so, get the fuck out of here and apologize to those who died."

Now, only dead silence can be heard and all of them were convinced by the importance of medical knowledge. The ones talking about how useless medical knowledge suddenly step forward and bowed to ask for forgiveness.

"Now that you seem motivated to learn, let us start. For starters, we have two courses for the medical course. First is the Basic Medical Course where you will only learn the basics and medical knowledge without using the chakra like for example, first aids. Second is the Advanced Medical Course where we will teach you how to use medical ninjutsu properly. Every team is required to send at least one member to learn the Advanced Medical Course and every Konoha ninja is required to learn the Basic Medical Course. Are there any questions?" Tsunade looked around and saw no asking. And so, the medical project of Konoha started.

-Konoha Training Ground-

After the whole morning of teaching, Kakashi went to the training ground where Jiraiya and Minato are training their Rasengan. Contrary to what he expected, no one questioned him or Shizune on why a young kid is teaching medical ninjutsu to them. He guessed that being a disciple of the best medical ninja played a huge part to clear their doubts.

"Oh, Kakashi-kun. You are now here. I guess the training for medical courses is now finished for the day." Minato immediately noticed Kakashi arriving at the training ground.

"Now that I think about it, why are you two not in the medical training?" Kakashi asked the two of them.

"Well, for me, I have been with the same team with Tsunade for almost a decade so it is natural for me to learn some things from her. As for Minato, I heard that there is an exam to know if your knowledge about the Basic Medical Course is sufficient and Minato passed it." Jiraiya answered for both of them.

"Oh, that one huh. I am pretty sure Kushina-san taught you some things she learned from Tsunade-sensei, Minato-san." Kakashi turned to Minato.

"Yep, and we learned a bit from Jiraiya-sensei about the first aids for injuries so that helped." Minato now answered.

"Speaking of your team, who did you decide to be the medical ninja? I did not notice Hiashi-san or Mikoto-san earlier." Kakashi asked.

"The both of them decided to learn medical ninjutsu and I think they are scheduled this afternoon. Tsunade decided to have separate classes for those students with huge potential for medical ninjutsu. She didn't tell you because she said that she will personally handle them for now and you must have some free time for yourself."

Tsunade knew that her team will want to help her train the ones with high potential for medical ninjutsu so she just never mentioned it and just informed them through someone else.

"Well, I can't do anything about it but when I mastered Rasengan, I will surely help her." Kakashi answered.

After their short conversation, the three ninjas proceeded with their Rasengan training.

-After a Week-

After a week of training during the afternoon, three ninjas now stand in front of three large boulders and are preparing to crush them.

"Let's do this at the same time." Minato said as they stare at the boulder in front of them.

All of them stretched out their hands and a football-sized blue sphere appeared almost simultaneously. They then dashed at their respective boulder and smashed the Rasengan on it. All of the boulders were crushed immediately when the Rasengan made contact with it. The three of them stared at each other for a while and a smile appeared on their faces.

"Hahaha. We did it Minato-san. We mastered it." Kakashi rejoiced at their hard work.

"Yes, Kakashi-kun. But we are not done yet. We can still infuse it with our Chakra Nature but... WHO CARES ABOUT THAT?! Let's celebrate for now and worry about that later." Minato excitedly said.

"Ahem, you may have forgotten but, you two must still register it to the Hokage and he will evaluate its rank. Remember that you may leave out the steps on how you did it because you were the one who developed it." Jiraiya reminded the both of them.

"YES SIR!!!" Even Minato saluted at his master due to his excitement.

-Hokage's Office-

Minato and Kakashi hurriedly entered the Hokage's Office to evaluate the Rasengan. There, Hiruzen is expecting the two of them because he has seen it through his crystal ball. But still, he did not want to reveal that he is stal- *Cough*- observing them from a distance.

"Oh Minato-kun and Kakashi-kun, why did you come here for today?" Hiruzen pretends to not know anything.

"Hokage-sama, we are here to ask you to evaluate a jutsu we to develop and exchange it for something of the same value." Minato was the one who stated their reason.

"Well then, follow me outside for me to evaluate." The three of them followed Hiruzen and did the same thing earlier. They then went back to the office and waited for the Hokage's evaluation.

After a few minutes of waiting, the Hokage stood up from his chair and gave a piece of paper for the both of them. Minato and Kakashi looked at it and saw a big "A" at the center of the paper and some lines.

"I believe that you two don't want others to learn this technique because of the potential of it. I understand that so I respect your decision. It is up to you two who you wanted to teach this jutsu. So now, what do you wish to exchange?" Hiruzen asked them both.

"I believe Jiraiya-sensei had discussed what my plans are to you, Hokage-sama." Minato answered first.

"Ah, yes, that one. Well, I agree to it." Hiruzen nodded slightly and looked at Kakashi next.

Kakashi ponders for a while before he answered. "I have a favor to ask for the Hokage."

Both Minato and Hiruzen look quite confused at Kakashi's request. And so, Hiruzen stared at Kakashi and asked.

"And what favor would that be, Kakashi-kun." Hiruzen asked while staring straight at Kakashi's eyes.

"For now, I have no idea what that favor will be and I think I would ask for it in the future. But I assure you that it will not bring Konoha any harm or whatsoever." Kakashi answered without faltering.

"Well then, and I guess the next Hokage after me would have to comply with your request. But just remember that your request in the future must be of equal terms with your achievement for Konoha. Is that understood?" Hiruzen asked again. He was expecting Kakashi to exchange for a jutsu but not a favor or request from him.

"Yes, Hokage-sama. I understand."

"You two are now dismissed." Kakashi and Minato bowed their heads and went out of the room.

-Training Ground-

On the way to the training ground, the two of them did not really speak and just went straight to the training ground. There they saw Jiraiya waiting for their return. He did not join the two of them because he did not really help in the creation of the Rasengan. At that time, Minato decided to open up and asked Kakashi.

"Kakashi-kun, what request will you ask the Hokage? Can I know it?" Minato asked. He did not speak about it on their way back because it might be a serious matter for Kakashi.

"Sorry Minato-san, I can't tell you for now. But you will know in the future so don't worry." Kakashi answered Minato while scratching his head. As for his request, only he knows what will that be in the future.

"I understand. So now that we complete the Rasengan, what will you do?" Minato decided to not pursue the matter any further.

"Oh, I plan on infusing my Lightning Chakra into it but that will come later because I will first help Tsunade-sensei on teaching for the next three weeks. What about you Minato-san?"

"Well, I also plan on infusing my Lightning Chakra but first I will go somewhere to train. You will know it later because it may take a year or more before I completed this training."

'A training for a year or more? I don't remember Minato-sensei talking about that in my past life. Maybe a few years of leave is what he asked the Hokage earlier.' Kakashi thought to himself.

"And when do you plan to start your training?" Kakashi asked.

"When Hiashi and Mikoto finished their medical training, we plan on taking on the Jonin Exams which will be held three months from now. That means if we pass the Jonin Exams, I will start my training."

"Is that so? Well, I wish you good luck with your training, though I think Kushina-san will be quite sad if you went out for a long time." Kakashi said.

"About that, I plan on going home at least once a month. If I did not, I think Kushina-chan will beat me up." Minato said as he laughs nervously as he imagines what could happen to him."

After their conversation, Kakashi, Minato, and Jiraiya went to Yakiniku to celebrate their completion of the Rasengan.
