3 Chapter 3: Training and Spar

Kakashi POV:

The next day after my talk to my parents, I am going towards the training ground with my father to start my training. In this life, I will be focusing more on Kenjustu using the tanto which is the signature weapon of my father. I'll also be focusing on getting my chakra reserves to be higher. Though I know a lot of jutsus in my past life, and I mean a lot, almost all of it became useless because of how low my chakra reserve is. Most of it is due to me possessing a Sharingan even though I am not an Uchiha. It sucks up my chakra endlessly rendering me useless if after using some high rank jutsu. As I am thinking of my training plan, my father suddenly taps my shoulder.

"Kakashi, we are here. What are you thinking about?"

My father questioned as I just noticed that we are in the training grounds.

"Dad, I am just very excited to start learning from you. So, what will be our training for today?"

I asked my father trying to be innocent and having a big smile on my face. In my past life, even though my father taught me a lot of things just like today, he is a bit, but not everytime, cold towards me and is always sad when no one is seeing him. I guess that is because my mother died while giving birth to me. But this time, because my mother is alive, I feel he is much warmer and the smile on his face is genuine unlike him forcing to smile in my past life.

"First of all, we must train your body so that it can adapt with the kenjutsu and taijutsu that I will teach you. We will start with some simple exercises based on your body so that it will leave no damage. Lets begin with some running, push-ups, squats and sit-ups. We will also improve you flexibility. You can do these all in weekdays in the morning and afternoon when you have no things to do so that your mom will not scold you for training in weekends.

I then started to stretch my body and warm-up. I then started to run in a moderate pace to increase my stamina. Even though I got reborn, that doesn't mean I got my physical abilities in my past life. One clear example is that after only five minutes of running, I felt my breath being rough and hard to breathe.

After some time, I started to do push-ups but with a different form. I bent my knees and let my feet cross so that it will not hit the ground. I did this because I can't do a single push-up when I do the normal one where my toes will touch the ground. After five push-ups, I stopped and waited for a few seconds and repeat. I did this for nine more times before taking a break. After break is over, I did sit-ups and squats with the same number of repetion like that of the push-ups. I also started training my flexibility during breaks because it does not really consume much stamina.

As lunch came, I heard my mother's voice shouting something.

"Kakashi, Sakumo, take a break first and have some lunch."

I saw my mother waving at us and has a basket full of foods.

"Thanks mom. Your the best."

I complimented my mother and started to eat the food. We chatted about different things while eating at the training ground.

After eating, I waited for a bit for my food to be digested and started training again. My afternoon training is exactly the same with that of what I have done this morning.

This all continued for an entire five months without any breaks except when mom told me to stop training on weekdays where I relaxed myself. The repetition of my exercise also increased from ten sets of five to ten sets of twenty.

I also talk to my mother when in break about herself. Because I only known her from my father's story, some parts of her life that I know is a bit different on what my father told me. I also sometimes play with other kids at the playground with my mother, in fact, one time, I saw Maito Dai training himself by walking in a handstand position. I know for a fact that he is a very strong person, both physically and mentally. Imagine fighting the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist and killing four of them while protecting three kids, then tell me he is weak. Heck, even I struggled to deal with just one you know.

After yet another six months the day of my third birthday came and my father gave me a scroll for my birthday.

"Kakashi, during these past eleven months of training your body, I think you can now bear the strain that will be required to perform our clan's kenjutsu. Here is the scroll which contains our clans kenjutsu. Practice it yourself so that you can learn to be independent. But you can still ask me for guidance."

I know and learned from my past life the whole kenjutsu of my clan. But then, even though I know how to move my body, I can't do what my father is doing and that is coating the tanto with lightning chakra similar to that of the Raikage's Lightning Release: Chakra mode. It is due to the fact that if I coat my tanto with lightning, then it will surely deplete my already depleting and low chakra reserve due to the Sharingan.

My training days also increased as my mother agreed for me to train in weekdays when I don't have much to do which is frequent.

Also, during the span of almost a year of training, I almost encountered Maito Dai everyday when training. At first, I just greeted him and say hi. But as we encounter each other frequently, I asked him for some pointers regarding my taijutsu. Even though I focused more on the kenjutsu my father taught me, it will not hurt if I also improve my taijutsu. One situation is if by any chance I broke my tanto in the middle of a fight and also exhausted my chakra, then I can still fight back and use taijutsu.

Though I talked to Dai everyday of my training, I still didn't know who my rival's mother and his wife is. Even if I can ask him about it, I learned my lesson not to suddenly ask some random question especially if the person I am talking to does not talk and open up about it. I must find the right timing to ask about it.

At the moment, I will be having my regular spar with my father. I am waiting for him at the training grounds to arrive but he is an hour late from our scheduled time. Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me. I turned arround while drawing my tanto and slashing it hoping to catch the person who snuck behind me. The figure jumped up avoiding the blade of my tanto.

"Nice awareness Kakashi. You really listened to my lessons to always be prepared to fight."

The man suddenly spoke and just stands a few meter away from me. The man is exactly my father.

"You are late dad, so I thought you will be sneaking up on me to test me. Guess I am right."

I said with a smug face while sheathing my tanto. I did this so that we can start again and have our spar.

"Ah... sorry, sorry. I helped a lady to carry her stuffs to her house. You won't believe it, but her house is at the cliff of a mountain you know.

...Well, I guess I now know who I inherited my habits from. But why do I feel like I know that experience and wanted to believe his excuse?

"Okay then. Let's start our spar for the day shall we?"

As my father said that he pull a coin from his pocket and tossed it into the air.

Sakumo POV:

I am late for our spar with Kakashi. Well, I mean, when you helped a lady to carry her stuff to her house that is on the edge of the cliff then you will surely struggle, right?

Anyway, I found this as an opportunity to sneak attack my son for a test. I stood on top of a branch and suddenly appeared on Kakashi's back. I saw the wooden tanto my wife gave him for his third birthday slashing towards me while he is spinning. I jumped up to avoid the blade and backflipped away for a few meters.

I then complimented my son for his awareness to his surroundings and gave my excuse to him.

I pulled out a coin and tossed it up signaling to be ready for battle. As the coin is on the air, I pulled my wooden tanto I prepared especially for our spar. The moment the coin hit the ground, I saw Kakashi dashed towards me while slashing his tanto to my neck.

Kakashi POV:

As the coin hit the ground, I immediately dashed towards my father who at the time is standing and readying his stance with his wooden sword. While dashing, I began to slash my sword towards his neck to hit a vital spot. Suddenly, he used his tanto to change the course of my attack. I then lay low and used a low spinning sweep kick on the ground aiming for his left leg. My father, noticing my kick, jumped behind and backed away for a second. He then suddenly dashed towards me while holding his tanto in reverse grip and slashed it. I intercepted his attack and backed away to throw three shuriken.

He then deflected all the shuriken but saw me dashing towards him while holding a kunai in my left hand and a wooden tanto on my right. My father threw a low left kick and I blocked it with by raising my leg. He then slashed his tanto as I deflected it with the kunai on my left hand and countered with an attack with my own tanto. At this moment, my attack missed not because he dodged but because I did not reach him. I think it is because my range is shorter compared to my past life and I am just beginning to adjust for a few weeks in using the tanto.

Our spar lasted for thirty minutes just before I passed out from exhaustion. I lied down to the ground to catch my breath and analyze our spar. I know for sure that father did not even used a tenth of his strength during our spar. I also made many mistakes especially because I am still not used to my three year-old body. My body sometimes failed to do what I meant to do.

After resting for a bit, my father walked towards me and points out my mistakes.

"Good job Kakashi. You don't have to feel down because of your performance. Its true that you made mistakes but who in the world does not make any mistakes. All you can do is lessen those mistakes through training your body. Your battle sense is pretty good but your body can't perform what you wanted it to do. But I can say that with your current strength, you can definitely beat any genin or even stand your ground in battling a low level chunin. Considering your age, everyone will call you a monster with the talent you have."

As my father said that, his face suddenly turned serious and continued.

"But remember Kakashi, even though you are a genius or even a monster at a young age, all that won't matter if you die. Remember to only chew what you can and not be greedy and arrogant. Also, seek help to others even if you think you can do a task yourself. This will all reduce the risk of being in danger. I mean, It doesn't hurt to have comrades who will help you, right?"

At this moment, the sun is beginning to set as we head home.
