43 Registration (1)

It was not hard for Savyrran and Ovandarrak to find their way to Royal Dream Higher Academy; there were thousands of people who were already making their way toward the academy.

The entire academy seemed to be built far away from civilisation and the only other building found close to the school was a large inn that catered to thousands of applicants every year. The huge walls of the academy could be seen from a distance while there were trees everywhere. It almost felt like the academy was built inside a forest. Wading through a vast sea of teenagers, they soon got to the monstrous gate of the academy.

"Why isn't the gate open?" Savyrran asked. She looked around her slowly only to see the look of impatience on the face of many of the teenagers.

"They said the gate will open for registration at 8:00am. We're ten minutes early."

"Who's 'they'?"

"The handbook. Savy, did you not read the book before giving it to me?"

"Read what? Who do you think you are talking to?" Savyrran chuckled. The lengths his brother would go to get her to read was unbelievable. That's what she had him for. "Also, why did you make us come this early when you know the gate was not yet opened?"

"Come later? Big sister, who do you think you are talking to?" Ovandarrak said in all seriousness. Savyrran grinned widely then burst into a hysterical laughter.

"I'm impressed. Your sense of humour is improving."

"That was not a joke."

This only earned Ovandarrak another round of laughter from Savyrran. He never could understand her sister's sense of humour. In fact, he usually did not know when other people were making a joke. But what he did know was that when Savyrran was not laughing or smiling, he felt uneasy and sometimes even scared. When she was not laughing, it meant she was either sad or angry. In his entire life, Ovandarrak had seen Savyrran without a smile on her face only once. That was the time Ayoro Basam attacked their town.

"This is just outrageous." A deep loud voice boomed from among the large group. Savyrran's attention was quickly diverted to the direction of the voice. The voice belonged to a tall boy wearing a beautiful colourful robe. His head was closely cropped to his scalp and he had an air of superiority surrounding him. "Whose idea was it to bring thousands of students here for registration? Can't this academy be like the others who do remote registration?"

"Shezzi, they've been doing this far longer than we have been alive." Another boy, a few inches shorter than the first said to his companion. He had long corn-rows which draped over his back.

"Whatever. It's still archaic. Why should people like us mix up with low lives like these? Why can't Yugaki get with the times?"

Shezzi's harsh words caused some of the children to look in his direction. However, none of them dared to say anything to him. Shezzi stood tall, his chest puffed proudly and his hands were folded behind his back. His eyes looked around him in disdain, as though daring the anyone to speak up. To him, no one here was worth his time.

"The only reason I'm here is because this academy is the best in the kingdom. Yugaki thinks he can do whatever he wants because he is backed by his clan. Well, so I'm I."

Shezzi's companion chuckled lightly.

"Hey, you." Shezzi shouted. His attention was fixated on two teenagers with very long dreadlocks.

One of the teenagers had obsidian eyes that seemed to be piercing into one's soul. One look at how the two boys were dressed and Shezzi knew that they were nobodies like everyone else. How dare such low lives even look at him.

"What are you two looking at?" Shezzi's haughty eyes were red from anger.

Meanwhile Savyrran and Ovandarrak kept staring at the arrogant boy who would not shut up.

"Hey, I'm talking to you." Shezzi's eyes were almost about to pop out of their socket.

But the twins continued to ignore the boy completely while the boy's companion seemed amused by everything going on.

"You…" But before Shezzi could say another word, the huge gates began opening up. Once all the children say what was happening, they scampered through the gates of the academy.

Nothing could have prepared Savyrran for the sheer beauty of the academy. It was like they had stepped into a different world, with so many beautiful sculptures and fountains decorating the place. There were several large screens levitating at various points. Some of the screens displayed the map of the entire academy while the others displayed that the registration would be taking place in the Administration Block.

"The academy is bigger than I thought." Ovandarrak said, his eyes fixated on one of the maps. From what he could see, this place, in spite of how incredibly large it was, was merely the entrance of the whole academy. By observing the scale of the map, he deduced that the various schools and halls were found at several thousand meters away from each other. He wondered how the students commuted from their halls to their class everyday since the entire place was like an entire city on its own. He would not be surprised if Royal Dream Academy was larger than Coast Town.

As though the universe was answering his question, a long white carriage containing several young people in uniforms whizzed past them.

"Ah, of course." Ovandarrak whispered, his eyes quickly darting back to the map. There were carriage stations in the school. How had he not even thought of that?

"What is it?" Savyrran asked. She had noticed that her brother had become rather occupied with some thing given how much he would not stop staring at the map.

"Registration takes place at the Administration Block. Let's go."

"Alright."

Just like that, Savyrran followed her brother's lead to the Administration Block. She was utterly useless with directions and thus, in her entire life, she had come to trust Ovandarrak as her own personal human map.
