3 Doctor Avor

With Saah's help, the woman's body was discreetly buried in the Tharks' family graveyard. Saah Thark was Fani's older brother, and as long as Fani had known him, Saah was always there for him. In fact, the reason Fani had told Saah about the woman and her baby was because Fani trusted his brother with his life.

From using his vibration soul armos, Fani had felt a deep sense of fear from Savyrran's mother. It felt like she was running away from something or someone hellbent on destroying the baby. Hence, Fani had thought it wise not to tell anyone about this. His intention was to raise the child as his own without raising any suspicions; a difficult thing to do in such a small town. Thankfully, Wikka's pregnancy was a perfect cover.

Apart from Saah, the only other person who knew of Savyrran's existence was Doctor Avor. At first, Fani had not intended to tell the doctor about it, however, Wikka had explained that the doctor was bound to find out anyway since it was certain he would be the one to deliver their unborn child. Besides, Wikka was also worried about how extremely calm and unresponsive the baby was. It had been about three days since the incident and yet, not even once had they ever heard Savyrran cry or made any sound of discomfort.

She looked happy and healthy, yet, it was eerily unsettling that a baby never cried. All it did was stare at her new parents with bright amused eyes. The strange marks they saw on the baby's back also added to their deep worry. Wikka felt those strange marks on the child may be the reason the child was acting in such a strange manner. So, she and her husband decided to invite Doctor Avor to take a look at their child.

Doctor Avor was in his late seventies however, he looked like he was only in his mid fifties. He looked so energetic and full of life that one could never believe that he was nearing his eighties. As long as Fani could remember, ever since he was a boy, Doctor Avor had always looked the same.

When Fani was five and his orange essence manifested, he used to fall ill all the time. Due to this, Doctor Avor was always in the Thark household treating the young Fani. People falling ill after the essence manifestation was a very common occurrence. The essence was literally the essence of one's soul which comes with incredible power the body and the mind were not used to. To make it easier for the body to endure this, one had to go through either physical training or mental training. It was only a few weeks after Fani had began his physical training did his illnesses stop. Afterwards, he did not have to see Doctor Avor anymore for his treatments. But by then, the two had become quite close like a grandfather and his grandson.

Even though Fani was a student of physical training techniques under Master Bufan, it was Doctor Avor who got him curious about the mental training techniques. Usually, many people trained until their bodies or minds were strong enough to contain their essence, then they did not train anymore. But Doctor Avor was unlike many people. He had been consistent in his mental training for several decades, since his essence manifested at the age of five. This was the main reason why his aging was incredibly slow even for someone of the orange essence.

With his solemn face and deep intelligent eyes, Doctor Avor was the most respected person after Mayor Danjo and Master Bufan in Coast Town. When he had received Fani's urgent message, he had been worried that it was about Wikka and the unborn child. Wikka was not due until two months, thus, it was quite worrying that they would invite him at this time. But when Doctor Avor got to the house, it was not what he had expected at all.

Instead, there was a baby who was barely a week old in the house, and yet, Wikka was still pregnant. Fani eventually explained everything to the doctor, who in spite of feeling so shocked by everything, looked as stoic as a mountain on the outside.

"Do you think it's an infection?" Wikka asked. She was holding a naked Savyrran in her arms as gently and affectionate as possible. They had only seen those marks on the baby the next day after finding her. The marks were seven black dots arranged vertically on Savyrran's spine. The dots were arranged in such precision that one would have thought it was intentionally put there. The first dot was the smallest, about the size of a grain of sand. Yet, its deep blackness, as opposed to the light honey brown skin of the baby made it quite visible. The second dot was twice as bigger than the first and the third twice as bigger than the second. It followed that kind of pattern until the seventh dot, which was the largest of them all.

"Is this perhaps the reason the child hasn't cried in days?" Wikka added.

But Doctor Avor only concentrated on the marks. "I've never seen anything quite like this before. But I don't think this is an infection. It looks like a birth mark."

"A birth mark?" Fani asked. He wasn't surprised Doctor Avor would think that. Even he himself had thought it was a birthmark too. But the more he looked at it, the more he realised it was too perfect to be a birthmark. The thing was like a wonderful piece of art deliberately drawn on the baby's spine. How could something like this be a birthmark? If it was a birthmark, then wasn't this too much of a coincidence.

"I can't say for sure. But it is not an infection. In fact, there's nothing wrong with the baby. She is perfectly healthy."

"Then why does she never cry? It's been three days since we found her and she has never cried even once. All she does is giggle or stare." Fani said, looking at the baby. "I just hope she's well."

"I can't find anything wrong with her. But keep watching her. If you find anything else unusual, let me know."

Doctor Avor began to pack up his back. Right as he was about to leave, he suddenly turned towards the husband and wife like he had just remembered something. "Fani, how do you intend to go about this? You know you'll have to have her registered. Sooner or later, people are going to find out."

"I'll do so in two months."

A small smile creased at the corner of Doctor Avor's mouth as he immediately understood what Fani meant.

"Was there ever a time when you believed you will be blessed with wonderful twins? You know, it is probably for the best that this precious child does not cry. That way no one will ever know about her in the next two months." With that, Doctor Avor was gone.

Running her hands through her black curly hair, Wikka beamed, "Twins eh? This child was never meant to be alone." Then she kissed Savyrran's forehead, and the latter giggled in happiness. "My little Savyrran." Wikka whispered, staring into the baby's rich dark eyes. Wikka did not think she had met anyone with such intense black eyes. The thought of it brought a smile to her face.
