63 "Who's The Monster?"

As though enraged by the name 'monkey', the Six Armed King Ape leaped into the air and then came directly crashing on top of the pesky little human. All of its six arms simultaneously rained punches after punches on the ground where the human once stood. Its maddening punches were so powerful that a small crater was formed.

"What are you punching?" Someone said from above.

Shayyan lifted its head only to see that annoying human standing on a tree branch.

Savyrran laughed. "I thought rare class soul armos were supposed to have some level of intelligence."

Shayyan roared furiously then sent three successive punches to the huge tree on which Savyrran stood, and just like that, the tree came tumbling down. Instantly, a ball of green light consumed Shayyan's gigantic body.

As Savyrran nimbly jumped from the falling tree, she wondered where that large ape had suddenly disappeared to. However, before she could land gracefully on the ground, Chanras appeared right in front of her in mid air and then sent a leg wrapped in green essence like a thick green blanket, straight into her stomach.

Savyrran clasped her belly, blood dripping out of her mouth. Slowly, she tried to get back up, however, there was a second kick right in her face. She fell flat on her back, her eyes shut.

Chanras smiled when he saw how heavily the boy crashed to the ground. With two powerful kicks like that, there was no way that boy was going to survive, especially when he had no essence.

Since Chanras had been studying his opponent for a while, he had realised that the boy had unusual strength and therefore, a mere kick, would not do much damage. Thus, he had concentrated the majority of his green essence around his right leg so as to increase the strength of his kick ten fold. But of course, to harness such great amount of soul energy, he had to summon his soul armos back into his soul.

Well, it did not matter if Shayyan was no longer around to help him, after all, the ape had merely been a distraction.

"I knew it." He was soon standing at Savyrran's feet, watching the bleeding face of the boy. "I thought that black sword was your soul armos, but I was wrong. It seems you have neither essence nor soul armos."

Seeing the peculiar way the boy had fought the three yellow users, Chanras realised that Savyrran had no soul energy. But Chanras never for a second underestimated Savyrran's strength, after all, what kind of person without soul energy could easily defeat three yellow users like it was nothing.

When a person's soul got permanently damaged, they were no longer able to harness essence nor their soul armos. Thus, even if they were very strong physically, it could be hard for them to go against a mere red user. Chanras believed that the boy's condition was not a mere soul damage. Still, he could not exactly explain it.

Finally escaping from his thoughts, Chanras released the massive surge of essence surrounding his leg, then slowly, he summoned the essence back into his soul. Such incredible use of soul energy had taken a great toll on his body and mind.

"I don't know how you were able to fight like that without any soul armos, but you are one dumb person to challenge me. Clearly you overestimated yourself an..."

The rest of Chanras' words got stuck in his throat when he heard the quiet laugh coming from the boy he had just bested. Then the laugh got louder and even more hysterical.

All that while, the person laughing had still closed her eyes, but her body shook with hysteria.

Chanras frowned, his brown eyes drilling into the boy laughing. He had just used most of his soul energy to direct that powerful kick and even another green user would be gravely injured after being kicked like that twice. Why then was this boy not unconscious? Instead, he was laughing like a damn lunatic.

"I was wondering when you were going to join this fight, Chanra." Slowly Savyrran opened her eyes, then gazed intently into Chanras' cold brown eyes. "I thought you were just going to let your little monkey fight all your battles."

Swiftly, Savyrran jumped back to her feet like she had not been heavily kicked in the stomach moments ago.

"You look… tired. Chanra."

As Chanras gazed into Savyrran's black eyes, he suddenly felt a chill creep down his spine. For the first time since the trials began four days ago, he felt a deep sense of fear within him. What the hell just happened? He knew he had used every ounce of his power to kick his opponent. What kind of body did this boy have that he was able to withstand such a kick, even without an essence?

"What kind of monster are you?" Chanras whispered, slowly retreating. He was breathing heavily due to the exhaustion that was taking over his mind and body. If he had known that using so much soul energy would have had no effect on his opponent, he would not have been so reckless.

"Monster? You are the one going after the weak and stealing from them. So who's the monster? You are a bully, and now you cry foul when you finally meet your match. How pathetic."

"Stop acting so damn high and mighty. This is the way of the world. The strong prey over the weak. Why else do you think we were permitted to attack other applicants?" Chanras screamed, his body shaking from a mixture of both fear and anger. Who did this boy think he was to lecture him? This was what the trials was about. He had decided to take the smart way out. Instead of hunting cores from soul beasts, he would rather hunt weaker applicants and take their prize. There was nothing wrong with this. It was merely survival.

"The strong prey over the weak?" Savyrran said, the amusement in her eyes transforming into something else. She tightly clenched her fists. The people she hated most were those who thought they could use their strength to oppress the weak. To her, people like that were less than filth. Being strong was a responsibility; a responsibility to protect the vulnerable. Even if the trials allowed them to attack their fellow applicants, why was he not attacking those strong enough to fight back? Did Chanras, as a green user, have to go after orange users? How cowardly was he?

"I guess I have no order choice than to prey on you then." She said in calm deadly tone. Her once warm and friendly eyes exuded a chilling intensity. Instantly, Badisk appeared in her hand.

"Wait.. what are you doing?" Chanras felt his face sweating profusely. His legs gave out from fear and exhaustion and he dropped to the ground.

There was something about the boy's calm ambiance that scared Chanras to death. This was not the same person who had been laughing and smiling, and not taking the battle seriously. With his cold black eyes and black sword in hand, the boy looked like an enraged demon warrior.

"Don't… please. You can have it. Okay, you can have my cores. Please… don't kill me." Chanras quickly threw his space ring to Savyrran.

As he watched the boy grovel with mercy in such a pathetic state, she felt the extreme anger slowly dissipating out of her. Chanras' plea for mercy somehow reminded her of the boy who had begged her to take his life after been poisoned by the bull serpent.

That thought sent a pang of sadness through her heart when she remembered how she had had to kill the boy to end his suffering. Slowly, the coldness in her eyes thawed. Then she just turned around and walked away.

This idiot was lucky he was not fighting Ovandarrak, Savyrran thought. Her brother never forgave an enemy. To Ovandarrak, letting an enemy go was just stupid since they could come back to harm you. But for some reason, Savyrran knew that Chanras had ran out of fight. It would be against her conscience to attack someone whose will had been broken like that.

Now all she had to do was look for Lorvan and Yuil. How far had they gone with their orange essence? She wondered. It seemed that she was useless when it came to traversing alone in this big forest, or anywhere for that matter. If she had plans to return back to the academy, she had to find someone to show her the way back, else, she would just run around in circles until the seven days were up.

For the first time, she realized how geographically inept she was without her brother around. Four days have passed since the trials, hopefully, her brother was awake by now.
