40 "It's Just A Little Dog!"

Just as Savyrran had suggested, Ovandarrak took the left corner which led deeper into a wide deserted enclave. The whole place was rundown and torn apart, like it had experience some kind of earthquake. From his peripheral vision, he could see the yellow and orange essence charging after him. Ovandarrak came to a halt, dissolving his essence back into his soul. It was only his first day in the royal capital, and yet trouble was knocking on his door. His decision to add physical training to his mental training was a good one. In this life, being peace-loving did not mean you were suddenly immune to conflicts. If he had to fight to stop a war, then that is exactly what he would do.

He might be a doctor, but he did not mind killing someone if they planned on killing him first.

Seven people surrounded him, some of them standing atop the low walls bordering the surroundings. Ovandarrak could see that four of them were yellow users while three were oranges. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He may be the strongest one here with his green essence, however, he was clearly outnumbered. Against one or two yellow users, he could easily fight back. But four yellows and additional three orange users, that could prove to be a lot harder. His best chance was to release the oppressiveness in his essence. Doing that, he knew it would immediately kill the orange users. But Ovandarrak was not concerned about that. These fools asked for this fight and he would give it to them.

"You are outnumbered, little boy." One of the yellow users said with a laugh. With his mature looking face, like someone in his late thirties, he was the oldest person in the Carnage Mace Gang. "You see, you made our leader angry. And now he wants you dead. But don't worry. Your space ring will be put to good use." As he said this, the others joined him in a hysterical laughter.

Ovandarrak's eyes transformed according to his essence. He would have to oppress them. With that thought in mind, his usually cold eyes turned even colder. Those small green eyes had the intensity of a dangerous predator whose sole instinct was to kill. The moment he did that, the green light hovering around his body flared up and became even deeper than before. Suddenly, all three of the orange users dropped to the ground, completely paralyzed by the bone-crushing pressure threatening to explode them from within. A few seconds later, a loud bursting noise filled the alley and blood splattered everywhere.

Three of the yellow users were on their knees, screaming in pain as blood gushed from their eyes and nose. They dug their hands into the ground, tightly clenching their fists as though that would somehow stop the terrifying pain coursing through their bodies. As much as they tried to fight against the pain, their mental resilience was too weak to do so.

The only one among them left standing was the man who had spoken up. That was Shwei, Rynyk's right hand man. Shwei could feel a massive migraine ripping through his head. It was like an explosive device was about to be set off in his head at any moment. Shwei prided himself in his mental fortitude since he specialized in mental training techniques. However, this child's oppressive essence was like nothing he had felt from a green. Even Rynyk's oppressive essence did not make him this helpless. For the first time, Shwei felt fear clawing through his heart. They had not anticipated that someone this young would have mastered essence oppression.

If they had known, there was no way in hell they would have stupidly ran after him.

Three of the gang members had exploded to bits, while the other three yellow users were too much in pain to do anything. The reason Shwei was still standing was because he was very mentally strong. He had to do something.

A ball of bright yellow light appeared beside Shwei. Then this light transformed into a snow white fox with tree tails. However, the fox was almost as high as a grizzly bear standing on its full height. This was the three-tailed winter fox, Shwei's soul armos. "Touman, get him."

Upon its master's command, the massive fox lunged towards the boy with the green eyes. The three white tails of the fox were like large flags swaying with the wind. Before Touman could get to its target, a ball of green light appeared right in front of Ovandarrak, transforming into a small gray dog with bright green eyes.

When Gray Gray appeared and barked with its tiny voice, Touman yelped like a little cat. The three-tailed winter fox stopped abruptly in its tracks and then scampered back to its master, fear in its yellow eyes.

"What are you doing?" Shwei shouted at his soul armos who was by now shivering behind him. The towering body of the winter fox was trying desperately to hide behind its master. No one told it anything about a rare class beast. "It's just a little dog. Go and get them." But Touman would not move an inch.

Ovandarrak's eyes twitched in confusion. When he summoned Gray Gray, he had not expected that giant fox to react like that. Wasn't Gray Gray a small dog? Why was such a terrifying looking beast afraid of such a small dog?

"Coward. I will get him myself." Shwei had not expected that the boy's soul armos would only be a small gray dog in spite of being a green. He felt lucky that this dog was not as menacing as Touman. Without thinking, perhaps because of the great throbbing in his head, Shwei ran towards the small dog, his yellow essence flashing around him.

Gray Gray did not know why this stupid man was still trying so hard to harm its master. After observing the three-tailed fox for a while, Gray Gray started transforming again as a burst of green light emanated from its body. Suddenly, instead of a small gray dog, standing in Gray Gray's place was another three-tailed winter fox almost identical to Touman, except that this one was even larger than Touman.

Shwei had not expected that this small dog would transform into such a large beast. Hence, he was too late to stop his momentum. A massive white paw landed heavily on him crushing him to paste to the ground. The moment that happened, Touman dissolved into tiny specks of yellow light and was no more. The ghastly red blood from Shwei's crushed body decorated Gray Gray's snow white paw like a painting.

Ovandarrak was perhaps the most confused person of everyone here. His eyes widened with shock. Gray Gray was a shape shifter? Since when? How did he not know that? Because of Ovandarrak's momentary loss of concentration, the oppressiveness in his essence vanished, and the other three yellows were released from that cursed pain.

The three yellow users had witnessed everything and were still frozen on ground even after the pain was gone. Four of them had been killed so easily like it was nothing at all. Even Shwei, who was the strongest one after Rynyk was reduced to nothing but minced meat. How could they even think about fighting back. One look from the large green eyes of the beast sent them running back in the opposite direction.

Seeing that the people troubling its master were all gone, Gray Gray finally transformed back into that adorable gray dog that Ovandarrak knew. The dog ran back to its master, hoping to earn his praise.

But Ovandarrak was just staring at the dog like a ghost. Gray Gray's eyes drooped, lowering its head. Ovandarrak could feel within his soul that his soul armos was depressed. It finally dawned on him that the dog was feeling that way because it was not getting the usual attention and love it often got from him.

Ovandarrak chastised himself in his head. He was just too much in shock from everything he had witnessed which was why he was staring at Gray Gray like that. Ovandarrak immediately knelt in front of the dog and then patted its head gently. Gray Gray's green eyes lighted up again as it lifted its head to stare into the green eyes of its master.

"That was amazing. I did not know you could transform like that. So you are a shape shifter, huh?" The coldness in Ovandarrak's eyes were no more and instead, filled with warmth. He carried the little dog into his arms, caressing its beautiful gray fur which had been by now, tainted with blood. Gray Gray barked as though replying to its master's question.

"How come you never told me?"

"Woof… woof." [You never asked]

Ovandarrak laughed heartily. "You are such a sassy little dog. Wait… Are you even a dog or are you just appearing as one."

"Woof… woof." [I awakened as a dog because you love dogs].

"Oh. I see."

The two left the bloody scene behind, not once turning back. Ovandarrak decided to go to Darana Hotel as Savyrran had suggested. She was probably already done and waiting for him there. A small smile tugged at Ovandarrak's lips as he imagined Savyrran's hilarious expression once he told him everything Gray Gray did.

"By the way," Ovandarrak continued, "I am going to give you a bath once we get settled in. You are not dissolving back into my soul with all that blood."

"Woof.. woof…" [Bathing a soul armos? Yeah, that is smart].

"Shut up."

"Woof.. woof.." [Stop bullying me. Or else I will tell Aunt Savyrran].

"Good luck getting her to understand your dog nonsense."

"Woof… woof…" [Shut up].
