67 "But I Don't Want Anything!"

"You know, you are full of surprises." Lorvan said for the hundredth time. No matter how she looked at it, she could not see how Savyrran was able to defeat the boys.

It was even more shocking to her when she learned that Savyrran had not even manifested her essence, and that she had no soul armos. So how was she able to fight? In fact, how was she able to even catch up with them that quickly when they were running with all the power of the orange essence. It made no sense. But they had witnessed it for themselves.

When Savyrran had told them to run so she could take care of the bullies, Lorvan was sure that the boys would definitely kill her. Instead, about half an hour later, Savyrran eventually caught up with them. At first, when they heard someone approaching, they had thought that it was Chanras and his team.

To be honest, it had taken Savyrran a while to find the two sisters once she was done with Chanras and his friends. But thankfully, Lorvan and Yuil had eventually grown too exhausted to keep running. Thus, they had decided to take a rest

Being completely exhausted after using all their soul energy, they knew their end was near. Running was no longer an option. All they could do was hope for a quick and painless death. But when Lorvan and Yuil saw that it was actually Savyrran, the relief that washed over them was tangible.

Savyrran eventually explained to the girls that the bullies were no longer after them.

At first, Lorvan would not believe it. But after hours of resting without any sign of Chanras or his friends, she finally believed the strange girl.

But perhaps, what surprised Lorvan and her sister was what Savyrran did next.

Savyrran lightly rubbed her silver ring and out came several colourful stones. The eyes of Lorvan and Yuil almost popped out of their socket when they saw how much cores Savyrran had. Many of them were actually rare soul beast cores.

"Wow… you got all these?" Yuil asked.

"I wish." Savyrran chuckled. She had never even found one soul beast on her own. How could she have gotten all these by herself. "Chanras and his friends offered it as a gift."

Lorvan opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Did this girl just call stolen cores a gift? Yuil only laughed when she saw her sister's expression. She knew exactly what Lorvan was thinking.

"Those boys must have stolen from so many applicants. Look at all these cores." Savyrran said, completely oblivious to her the look of wonderment she was garnering from her companions. "It looks like they had enough for all four of them to complete the trials. Why were they still going after more cores?"

"Obviously because they didn't want others to pass." Lorvan said.

"But why? That sounds… terrible." Savyrran said.

For a moment, Lorvan thought Savyrran was joking, but once she saw the sincerity on the girl's face, Lorvan's eyes softened. Was it possible that this girl was genuinely shocked that someone deliberately wanted others to fail?

"Anyway, do you girls have enough to pass the trials?" Savyrran asked.

For a moment, Lorvan and Yuil were taken aback by the question. They had not expected it, and thus, they were rendered speechless.

But a few moments later, they both regained their stupor. The girls rubbed their rings and out came a few common class cores.

"Hmm…" Savyrran said once she saw the few number of cores the girls possessed. "Alright. So there are seventy-two common class cores and thirty-eight rare class cores. So I'm going to give both of you ten rare class cores each."

"That's… you don't have to do that." Yuil said. Was this not too generous? Even if she were to give them ten common class cores, that would even be considered too generous. And yet, here she was, giving them ten rare class cores; the exact number of cores they needed to pass their trial.

"Yuil is right. The cores are yours, you can't just give them to us. It does not even sound fair."

"What are you two talking about?" Savyrran's dark eyes got even darker with confusion. "First of all, what do you mean by I don't have to do that?" She pointed to Yuil. "And you," she pointed to Lorvan, "what do you mean it does not sound fair? Was it fair when those boys tried to steal your cores?"

Without saying anything anymore she just pushed the cores into their hands. "Don't argue with me. Just take them. Besides, I found them because of you two, so it is only fair to give your share."

"Thank you." Lorvan finally said. As much as she thought about it, she could not understand why Savyrran would do this. They had never done anything for her to deserve it. In fact, she was the one who had protected them from those boys and now she giving them the cores. Which meant that because of her, they were about to pass the trials. "But we really have nothing to offer back."

Savyrran smiled, "but I don't want anything."

"This…" Lorvan began.

"How about this. You can do one thing for me and we can call it even." Savyrran said when she saw how conflicted Lorvan and Yuil looked. She had heard from Master Bufan how some tribes felt about being indebted to others. She didn't know which tribes these two belonged to, however, she did not want to put them in such an awkward situation. Thus, she tried to compromise.

"Anything." Lorvan and Yuil said simultaneously.

"Why don't we all rest for today and once we are well rested, you can help me out of this forest first thing tomorrow."

Lorvan blinked rapidly, still waiting to hear what Savyrran actually wanted.

"I can't find my way around in this forest. So maybe you two can help me back into the academy." She explained.

"Well, I agree." Yuil said. Though Savyrran had described it as if they would be helping her, Yuil knew that she and her sister would most benefit from this arrangement. After all, with Savyrran on their side now, they could safely get to the academy without being ambushed by other applicants. "What about you, Lorvan?"

After a few seconds of silence, Lorvan finally replied. "Okay."

"Wonderful. Then we have a deal." Savyrran chuckled, lying back on the rough surface of the boulder they were sitting on.

After several minutes of comfortable silence among the girls, Savyrran finally mused out loud, "I wonder what the second phase of the trials is about."

Lorvan sighed. They had not even yet made it out of the forest alive. But once she remembered the incredible feat Savyrran had accomplished, she thought that perhaps, it was not strange for the girls to think about the next phase of the trials. Thus, Lorvan decided to tell her what she knew. After all, it was the least she could do at this point.

"I heard it's some kind of a tournament."

"A tournament?" Savyrran quickly sat back up in excitement. When she wondered out loud, she had not expected an answer. Since she had no idea what to expect, she had not really thought Lorvan would know about it either.

"Yes. According to what I heard the second and third phase would be fighting tournaments."

"Wait," Savyrran eyes grew wider, "there is a third phase?"

"You didn't hear?" Yuil added

"No. I was too worried about my brother. He almost died in his trials in the Soul Recovery School. Honestly, I'm still worried because he's still not awake."

"I'm so sorry to hear about this." Yuil said sincerely. Savyrran smiled widely as though she had not just admitted that her brother almost died.

"It's okay. Ovan is tough, he will be fine."

"Ovan? Do you mean Ovandarrak Thark?" Lorvan said. There was a certain look in her face as though she had just figured something out.

"Yes… how did you know my brother's name?"

"Goodness… Ovandarrak is your brother? Ah, now everything makes sense."

But Savyrran stared at her in a way that showed that nothing actually made sense. "How do you know my brother?"

For the first time since she met the two sisters, Savyrran saw Lorvan laugh.

"Really? Your brother challenged the violet level. There is no one in Royal Dream Academy who doesn't know him."

For the first time, Lorvan saw Savyrran in a different light. If there was still any doubt she had about Savyrran's strength, then it was completely shattered. At first she had reasoned that the girl probably got lucky fighting Chanras and his team. But someone whose brother was confident enough to challenge the violet level and still survived couldn't have simply being lucky. These two siblings must be completely a pair of over-powered monsters; in the good sense.

For a moment, Lorvan felt that even if they passed this trial, she and her sister stood no chance in the next one if they would be facing people as strong as Savyrran was. Wasn't it a good thing they were on her good side then?
