6 The Mysterious Old Man

In a wide office, Two old men sat face-to-face with a desk between them. One of the old men had a kind-hearted grandfather kind of look, while the other was wearing a white suit with white hairs and beard growing on him.

In case you haven't guessed by now, the two men were the Principal of Hitachi high school and the mysterious old man who had came to watch Argo's testing.

The mysterious white man was known as Manuel Su. He was a very popular man. He was Rema Talean's mentor, but his other identity was the dean of Yaoyang University; the number one University in the world.

He was one of the most influential people in the United Federation. Even the President of the Federation had to show him some respect.

The Principal welcomed Manuel Su to his office. Through the window, they could see walking out of the school gates with Jared in tow. They other students were pointing at them, gawking and whispering to themselves.

"Your students are all a bunch of wretches!" Manuel Su spat to the Principal, a hint of fury in his eyes. He had just heard about Argo's life for the past few years in Hitachi high school.

He specifically entrusted Argo into the Principal's care. He instructed him to take care of Argo.

He couldn't be more sorry. He blamed himself for not checking up on Argo for the past few years, though he gave Argo his smartlink contact info and told him to call if he ever needed anything or ran into trouble. He never did. Who could've thought that the son of a General would live such a life.

He remembered clearly that after Rema Talean went missing, the higher-ups who were always jealous of him accused him of betraying his country and abandoning his post. Some of them even went as far as trying to have his son killed. So to protect Argo, he arranged to have him expelled and sent him here hoping he would live a happy life with zero worries.

He was given a big surprise today when it turned out that he had dual element affinity just like his father. But additionally, he had perfect affinity for both of them.

This meant he was an even greater genius than his father.

'If this nobles knew that the boy the cast out turned out to be talented, they will surely go green with regret...hehe.' Manuel Su thought gloatingly.

That said, he was still furious with the Principal for not taking care of Argo as promised.

"Dean Su, it wasn't my fault. Argo is a very independent young man. He repeatedly rejected my offers and attempted to help him" The Principal hurriedly shook his hands and explained. He felt like he was on the edge of the abyss right now, one small mis-step will send him into the depths of hell.

Manuel Su eyes softened when he heard what the Principal said. He understood, after all Argo never called him even once, despite all the sufferings. Like father like son indeed.

"Dean Su, would you like to meet Argo?" The Principal breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the Fury in Manuel Su's eyes clearing up.

"Unnecessary" Manuel Su waved his hands. "Since your little competition will be held soon, I might as well stay and watch how he performs"

"That's great! I'll make arrangements immediately!" The Principal was ecstatic. If the dean of Yaoyang personally watched the competition, there was a chance that a student could catch his eye and perhaps he might increase their quota to six or seven.

"Right, how good is his martial arts?" Manuel Su suddenly asked.

The Principal replied "He is publicly known as a Level 1 Apprentice. Even I thought so until a few days ago when I heard he beat up two of his classmates. His actual strength would be around Level 3."

"That's approaching the limit of what's achievable without using Mana, he's indeed talented" Manuel Su nodded his head in praise. A level 1 Apprentice was basically as strong as a normal human adult.

*****

Argo got home and started thinking about the events that happened today.

One, was that he turned out to have extraordinary talent. Possessing a rare dual element affinity, and both of them turned out to be high level... maybe higher.

He thought so because of the phenomenon that appeared when he was tested did not appear at any other testing but his. He thus speculated that his level was actually higher than high-level.

He was pretty sure that the cause of the incident was the Mana Gathering Pill he took the day prior that caused his elemental affinity to be much higher than the norm. He was excited thinking about that and wondered if he could get more of those pills.

'If I could get a handful of those pills, won't I become the strongest man alive.' Argo's excitement grew the more he thought about it.

His excitement died down as quickly as it rose when he checked the price of the pill on the system's Exchange List. The almost endless strings of Zeroes crushed his fantasy of eating... cough cough his way to the top.

The other Significant incident that happened today was the system alerts that he got after he finished his Affinity Testing.

[Ding. the host has done something deemed as fun by the system. Host has been awarded 1000 SP]

This was one of the system alerts Argo got after he finished his Affinity testing. He had asked the system and determined that the points were awarded because his testing caused excitement to some people. The system surprisingly deemed the Affinity Testing as 'Fun'.

Argo was speechless the first time he saw this notice. How bored could someone be to deem an Elemental affinity testing as fun? Suddenly, he was feeling kind of bad for the system.

[Ding. New Mission Issued]

[Obtain the first place in the competition being hosted later at your school]

[Rewards Hidden]

This was the other system alert he got.

Argo had already made up his mind to get stronger as soon as possible, as strength was the only true language understood In the world. And the fastest way to achieve his goal was through the system, so the mission was welcomed by him and he was determined to complete the mission.

He skimmed through the system's Exchange list and wanting to check if there were any items or treasures that would help him with the mission.

His eyes brightened and he licked his lips as he saw the items in the exchange list. He almost felt bad for the other students participating in the competition, a cheater just arrived to break the game{1}.
