Iremn, Academy of Mages, Olivia's room

"Let's start off with goals in life, I want to become the Lord Magus here in the Gladifer Empire and run this Academy how I see fit." Olivia would sit down on her bed swinging her legs as she talked.

"But if that doesn't pan out I can always just do some military work or go out adventuring." Olivia looks over to Seraph as she rolls onto her stomach.

"What goals do you have as a familiar?" Olivia rested her head against one hand under her chin leaning in towards Seraph.

"Well first is to explore what this planet has to offer, after that I'd just like to magically make tacos. Maybe even make a lil taco shop." Seraph hopped in front of Olivia and booped her before hopping on her back. From there she kneaded Olivia's back and curled up into a ball.

The two decided to fall asleep until the following morning. When Seraph woke up she walked around looking for Olivia. So Seraph decided to walk outside her room and explore for a bit. She would look at the high ceilings that were decorated with some silver metal over the white marble surfaces. Seraph comes across a hallway where some students were gathering up so she decided to pitch in to see what was going on. The crowd was looking at three individuals, one was Olivia who was on the floor with magical metal clamps over her feet, the other two were some teenage alpha male with a husky sized blue dragon near him.

"-since you've made it to the Beta class there's a few rules you gotta follow now. And if you follow them well, my familiar here won't eat yours in front of you." The asshole in blue formal attire would rant on about ridiculous rules many that would be considered slanderous only made Seraph smile. Seraph hopped on the heads of the crowd before hopping on the head of the formal asshole leaping off to nuzzle Olivia's hair.

"Your familiar is courting death! Apologize for disturbing this meeting and placing your filthy paws on my head!" To say the asshole was livid would be quite accurate, but Seraph didn't give a fuck about his issues. She went to the metal shackles and used light magic to pry it apart, shattering the magic entirely.

'Hewwo Olivia, are you alright?' Seraph would boop her to get her to laugh a little.

"Yea I'm fine just a Beta asserting dominance is all. Let's go to class before this escalates." Olivia went to pick up Seraph and started to walk towards her class when a wall of blue fire blocked her path.

"Listen here you bitc-" Blood splattered the crowd behind the formal asshole, they all screamed at the sight of one of the top Beta's and their familiar getting impaled through the heart instantly. Orange blades of light were burning through their flesh, clothing and fur. A few moments later the blades vanished with the sound of dead bodies dropping right after.

'Want me to kill the rest for simply standing by watching while not even lifting a finger?' Seraph would wag her tails while looking Olivia in the eyes.

"N-no it's fine, I'm fairly certain we'll be in trouble because of this. Let's just go to class." The fires that were standing in her way dissipated when the familiar died. They made their way to the advanced magic understanding course. The classroom was fairly sized, there were thirteen rows of chairs within twenty columns. There was a podium in front with chalk boards behind and a few tables with books stacked in an unorganized way. There were several classmates already sitting at their desks, a couple of groups talking to each other, and a few glanced over at Olivia walking through the door with Seraph acting as a scarf again. Olivia finds a chair near the front and takes it.

Seraph looks around the classroom, tickling Olivia in the process. There were a few people she saw who'd probably be killed by their own stupidity near her in the future, otherwise everyone else looks more like sheep than wolves. She goes back to looking at the front of the classroom tickling Olivia again, getting a little giggle before a hand smushes Seraph's face.

"I'm trying not to stand out, kindly stop tickling my neck." Olivia wasn't mad, she just wanted to get the day over with after the hallway scene.

'I made you unhappy, was I not supposed to kill that asshole who bullied you?' Seraph was a little confused, humans die a lot and easily from what she's seen. So she thought it was natural to end a life anywhere.

"No you were not supposed to kill him, yes he was bullying but you can't just kill him. There are consequences for those kinds of actions." Olivia kept the conversation to a whisper for any prying ears.

'Was the hoomans fault for bullying you with the use of his familiar. What's wrong with protecting you and eliminating the threat?' Seraph got another smushed face from Olivia's hand

"Just disable them next time you dork." Olivia sighed and pet Seraph

A few minutes passed by until a professor entered the room, the groups standing quickly got into their seats. Using air magic he flipped the unorganized books into a neat row with a couple books on top. He looked around the classroom before speaking.

"Alright for those who already know me, just stay seated, if you're new, stand up and tell the class your name, specialty and the name of your familiar." Professor Zak was a tired looking man, mid forties and wore a dark blue robe with a few satchels on either side of his body filled with scrolls and a few potions.

Olivia was the only one standing up, all eyes were on her. She looked around before saying her name.

"My name is Olivia Greyheart, I study the art of gravitational magics. My familiar is known as Seraph, she can hold three arts at her disposal." Olivia could hear chuckling from multiple students, the professor shut them up by banging the table with one hand.

"My dear, why don't you have your familiar show the class its power so they won't readily mock your claims.

Olivia would look at Seraph, pat her on the head before watching Seraph leap from her neck and land on the professor's desk.

'I'll need one volunteer.' Seraph looked around the crowd

"I need one volunteer for my familiar." Olivia looked around and saw one guy stand up, walking down the aisle before standing a few inches from her looking down.

"Bet that squirt won't even harm a hair on myself. If i'm right you get to be the class pet for the rest of the year." He walked off towards the professor's desk looking down at Seraph.

Before the boy could say another word he screamed in agony and the sound of magic getting shattered echoed in the classroom. The boy had a protection spell enchanted into his clothing to prevent a multitude of damage types from hurting him. However this didn't work considering up to his kneecaps had been eaten away by miasma on the floor. The miasma dissipated and pillars of light crushed both his arms. The classroom jumped from their seats, some girls screaming at the sight. Not as loudly as the boy who has just a stubby torso now. After a few seconds his arms and legs began to regenerate at an alarming rate until all his limbs were as good as new. The boy had pissed himself running out of the classroom. Seraph created a miasma to destroy it before returning to Olivia as her scarf.

The professor cleared his throat before looking at Olivia, mainly at the scarf.

"It would be appreciated if you didn't kill members of our classroom if you can help it." Professor Zak was hoping the familiar was reasonably behaved and not just a random stray that entered the sanctuary.

'So long as they don't disrespect or hurt my Olivia then they have nothing to fear. Besides i disabled him since my friend doesn't want me to kill anyways.' Seraph would wag her three tails behind Olivia's neck.

"Right… Anyways class this is exactly why wizards, mages and sorcerers should never underestimate the power of another. We're not a normal school for kids to have gangs and crap like that, power is the only currency us professors care for. If you lack that power expect to get expelled, left behind or die due to your actions." The professor took out some papers from his satchels and threw them into the air. Each one vanished and appeared on top of everyone's desk, it was a paper about an expedition to a dungeon. It was a mandatory event for all Beta's to attend for field experience. Every student apart from Olivia dreaded the idea of going into a dungeon.

'What's a dungeon? Is it like a creepy cave with chains hanging from the top, oh and has a bunch of skeletons?' Seraph would wag her tails side to side waiting for an answer.

"It depends on the situation. Many dungeons are lost structures, monuments or artifacts infested with ruinous creatures or bandits. Other times is a portal leading to an unknown location. And rarely it's the sites immortals made out of boredom.

'Immortals? They sound boring.' Seraph would stop wagging her tails.

"I mean not not much is known about them other than, well being immortal creatures. One was a really big deal for this empire but soon he grew bored of us and left somewhere else." Olivia looked to see what location the dungeon would be at.

'Still sounds boring, let's look back at this dungeon thingy.' Seraph would jump off Olivia's neck and walk around her desk. She looked at the paper, and for a long time she pondered what was in front of her until finally she looked up at Olivia.

'I can't read! Human you must read for me because I am illiterate!' Seraph would roll on the table acting all depressed. This caused Olivia to laugh and place her hand on Seraph's fuzzy chest stopping her from rolling about.

"I'll teach you, I'll teach you, just stop making me laugh in front of others. It's embarrassing to see others watching me alright?" Olivia sighed she was going to say something further but got booped by an adorable fox.

'Screw other hoomans, if they judge you poorly because of you enjoying your life then they should be embarrassed. Being such lowlifes who need to judge others to feel better about their own existence. If there is no joy or happiness then there is only regret and idiocy in the world. And less hot strong willed babes.' Seraph chuckled at the last part before booping one more time. Seraph jumps on Olivia's shoulder and snuggles against her neck. Olivia is confused by the last part Seraph said but she understood the rest and proceeds to pet Seraph.

The class resumed to go on about the theory of dungeons and why they're so common in the world they live in. The most famous dungeon was Avermands castle, a place swarming with undead soldiers and adventurers at the ground floor, the castle itself is integrated inside a gigantic spire, the amount of floors discovered was four hundred and eighty seven until they had to retreat. Every nine days the dungeon repopulates all floors giving anyone who enters a timeframe to leave before getting surrounded and cut off from the outside world. Nobody knows what treasures lay at the top or the monsters that guard it. So very few adventures and fools these days go after it from time to time. The last recorded expedition was seventy years ago when the Lord Emperor attempted to break through the spire's peak, all but three people including the Lord Emperor made it out alive.
