9 Scaled Combat

'Well, they brought an army sooner than expected, this will be problematic. Chances of winning this situation is below seven percent. But it looks like they've brought some sort of device, possibly some sort of multi-phased jail system. This will require more information.' Impheares sits on the floating disk of light observing the fight to come, he watches as the rebels begin to run around their newly constructed palisades grabbing whatever weapons they can for the fight.

"To arms, the empire has come! We must push them back with our resolve to be free!" Jurik was encouraging nearby rebels to fight their hardest, the jackals along the wall stood still waiting for hostile intent. The rebels soon take up makeshift wooden shields and stolen weapons to combat the empire forces. Each one had a terrified expression across their face, however many regained their resolve seeing the jackals dart off towards the enemy.

The soldiers of the empire forth company Iron Curtain brought forth the small iron palisades over their backs and dug them into the ground pointing them towards the incoming attackers, they pulled out shields and longswords for battle. Each soldier was ready to fight and die in the Lord Emperor's name to regain his territory. After a few moments the sound of flesh smacking against the palisades resounded in the air, hundreds of jackals ran themselves through but still found the will to claw at the enemy. Many were beheaded or shot to death. Some leaped over the dead to drop on the soldiers below, each slice or bite melted whatever weapon, sword and flesh that got in their way.

The Captain wasn't phased by this sight, for only the demon was his target, he ordered several mage rifles to shoot the platform the demon was on to gather its attention. After a few volleys they indeed acquired the attention of the demon, only to have blinding light fall down from the heavens onto their positions. Many dodged the onslaught of beams of light burning through the ground but some were not so lucky. The scent of burning flesh, fabric and metal filled the air. The demon fox jumps down towards the soldiers to enter the fight.

Watching Impheares jump down to join the battle inspired the rebels to charge into battle. Each rebel roared a warcry as they bypassed the iron palisades and joined the fight with the remaining jackals. Iron on iron clashed against each other, blood spilt by both sides started to paint the battlefield a crimson red. The Iron curtains began to tactically retreat from their positions shooting a green flare above their heads.

"Fire!" The scout Captain resounded using air magic. The two companies of scouts fired their mage rifles from opposite angles onto the rebels killing a good majority of them. They attached shortswords to the ends of the rifles and charged forward with air magic hastening their assault. The rebels were stricken with fear watching as the scouts impaled them with the swords and ripped them out to meet the next target.

'This is just as predicted, now let's see how they will handle this.' Impheares created an orb of light with great intensity, after a few seconds he threw the orb high in the air while rushing towards the enemy. The orb behind him ignites into the brightness of a solar flare temporarily blinding many on the battlefield. He used this opportunity to create a armor of blue light around his vital areas while each claw had an orange blade of light extruding out. He strikes down the iron palisades in his way as if they were toothpicks, then he goes for the scouts nearby. Many of these scouts were able to evade the blades of light to his surprise so he decided to attack the other variations of soldiers. When he attempted this the scouts diverted his attention by using wind magic to create obstacles  in his path.

'So they want my attention, this should prove informational.' Impheares devoted his attention to the scouts, able to kill one after another with perfectly timed jumps. The game just started though, for the first time in his existence in this world, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. There was danger and that danger had a sword the size of a house coming down at him. He dodges narrowly only to be smacked by the blunt part of other blade crashing into the ground with enough force to shoot up bone and dirt. Impheares coughs up luminescent white blood over the ground. He backs off shooting a beam of red into the eye of the construct. The construct falls apart from this attack for its core was skewered. The second one didn't give him the chance to do another attack, smashing its foot towards the ground where he stood.

The foot stops just above the demon's head, several mages use binding magic to hold the demon on many leashes they use to drain magical energies and stamina from their targets. The mages drag the demon out from under the Knight of the Light's foot and towards the floating orb. Soon the demon was directly under the floating orb, the priests chanted louder until the orb started to vibrate uncontrollably in and out of reality before the demon started to get sucked inside of it. After a few moments the orb calmed itself sticking within one phase of existence while the demon looked as if frozen in time inside.

"We finally captured it, which took more casualties than predicted, however this is still a win for the Empire. Captain ensure the rest of the rebels are dealt with and a new owner is placed for this mining colony. We're bringing this demon to the laboratory for study." The Lord Knight takes half of the forces remaining to escourt the demon.

Meanwhile the commotion outside simmered down, Impheares's mind was still unhindered in the amount of questions he had. 'Were those constructs or piloted mechanoids? And this orb, it seems like an interdimensional zone encased in strong gravitational magic… simply fascinating! I wonder how many other secrets they are willing to share with me. I must know more about this world's understanding of magics. But first I possibly need to appease their own curiosity of myself, first I'll gather their trust and then acquire whatever knowledge they have for my own. Sadly those rebels are probably dead by now, if only the rebels were the ones who attacked me instead of the guards. This would have been a better encounter if that situation came to pass.'
