15 Hairy Evaluation

***

Iremn, Academy of Mages, Evaluation room III

Olivia, with Seraph warming her neck, follows several elders through the hallway until they find themselves at a doorway that leads to the Evaluation room. This room had obsidian flooring with decorative metal walls, at the center of the room was an obelisk. This obelisk was made out of obsidian and had glowing white veins underneath the thin layer of obsidian. The outside was decorated in gold metals and silver highlights.

'So human, what are we doing here? This some kind of ritual thingy?' Seraph would stop being a scarf and hop from shoulder to shoulder on Olivia.

"This is an Evaluation room, they're going to check our magical capabilities before we make a pact." Olivia would adjust her adornments before walking towards the obelisk. There she placed her hand on the open surface watching the white veins react to her mana flow. After a few moments the obelisk created a manifestation of her power. The manifestation was that of a black hole and a white hole coexisting in synchronous orbit with one another keeping the same distance from each other at all times. She walks away from the obelisk ceasing the manifestation's existence.

"Olivia Greyheart, your mastery with gravitational magic has improved from the last time I've evaluated your progress. I'm sure you will surpass many once your studies end two years from now." Elder Neru was showing a smile as he stated this.

'So I just hop on it and it'll make a manifestation of what I am currently?' Seraph was confused at the whole process, but thought the pretty pictures were cool.

"Yes, just touch the obelisk and it'll see your potential." Olivia picked up and placed down Seraph and stepped back.

'Well what's the worst that could happen.' Seraph pounced the top of the obelisk and decided to take a nap since it does the pretty pictures for her. For a while the obelisk only flickered purple flares which gave off heat. The elders in the room stepped back, but they all realized something terrifying along with Olivia. The room they were in was no more, they were standing atop a spire overlooking a maelstrom below using the spire as the eye. A few elders almost fell off and brought themselves away from the edge. When everyone looked around there were three pillars that pulsed light steadily into the sun above. Six more pillars seemed dormant, all of them combined to form a half circle around the cracked ground they stand on. Each one with a carving on the ground heading towards the center where the sleeping Seraph resided.

Olivia at the time was bewildered at such a manifestation taking such control on the material world. That's when she felt chills running up her spine, for the sun fell to the north. And from the south a purple moon rises, the pillars change shape into monstrous creatures. The first was a bright white fox made of crystals, every movement it made was not organic making its movements seem erratic. The second was a black fox made entirely out of a dark miasma that eroded the land it came into contact with. And finally the third fox, as the pillar warped it disappeared along with every manifestation surrounding the obelisk. All the elders and Oliva fell on their asses contemplating what just happened, they looked towards the obelisk. The obelisk itself had all metals melted, the blood inside bursted out the bottom leaving a white goo on the floor with obsidian shards. Finally there was Seraph taking her power nap on the top of the obelisk. Completely unaware of the situation other than how comfortable it is laying on such a smooth surface.

"What the hell was that! They said that the familiar was strong but this goes beyond strength." Elder Neru was taking a mental note of the scenery they witnessed.

"Wasn't that the spire of Ultimatum? It was supposed to be a legend, and we just watched it flip like a coin." Elder Trez looked at Seraph then back at Olivia and pointed at her.

"Olivia, if you still have the determination to form the pact with that familiar know this, there is a possibility it is an Immortal. You must not under any circumstances betray its trust." Elder Trez has met one Immortal before, he was a part of the creation of this empire. Known in legend as Quasar, dragon of stars. Trez sought the dragon in search of knowledge several years ago in order to become an elder.

"I didn't plan on it, Seraph will be under my care now. Thank you for evaluating us elders but I must be going to form a pact with my Seraph." Olivia went to Seraph and cradled her in her arms.

'Hewwo human, where are we off to next?' Seraph would roll in Olivia's arms playing with her tails.

"To form a pact with you, that's if you still accept me as your master." Olivia would keep pace walking to her room.

'I don't really care for the idea of having a master. Why not just be my friend and we can see where that goes.' Seraph would hug one of her tails

Olivia chuckled at Seraph's comment, for a familiar with so much power they really are just a playful kid. She opens the door to her room in the girls dormitory section. The room was fairly sized, it had a doorway on her left leading to a bathroom. In front of her was the living room/bedroom area, and to her right was a couple of closets. The decor had a red theme to it, almost like autumn. The area itself wasn't pristine but it wasn't a mess either. Seraph hopped from Olivia's arms and looked around for a while before laying on the foot of her bed pawing at the tips of her tails as she laid on her back.

"So, ready to make the pact?" Olivia was a little nervous but she knew with Seraph with her she could accomplish anything.

Seraph reached out her paw, Olivia reached out hers as well. Both had magical chains materializing around their bodies and converged towards their connection. As the chains touch Olivia feels a burst of resistance. As she watches three colored chains slowly squeezing her arm. She endured the pain until the chains faded away, Olivia felt lighter than usual but she guessed that was from forming the pact. Seraph looked at Olivia for a bit before she decided to speak.

'Hewwo Olivia, what do you wanna do first?' Seraph looked Olivia in the eyes, for now she actually saw her for the first time.
