7 From darkness, comes the light

What a strange feeling this is... I know I've died but there is no fear I possess, no anger at those who killed myself nor sadness for those who died with me.' He contemplated his life choices in the service of the military, analyzing each memory to end the growing boredom death had to offer.

***

Empire of  Gladifier, Mining colony IV is filled with iron and cobalt veins which is relentlessly tapped with the use of collared slaves primarily filled with demi-humans. The day was hot thanks to the sun overhead providing no shade below.

A few of the slaves noticed an anomaly with the metallic veins starting to pulse slowly losing their color in the process until the material turned into pure carbon.

Outside the mines the sun's glow and head on the land started to fade away, giving off a chilling breeze to all present at the colony. Then as if lightning had struck the earth with anger a loud boom of magical energy crashed down on the center of the mining colony killing the unfortunate souls that were within its arc. These energies were a mix of gold and pure white giving off a holy aspect ,which was combined with the cruel reality of the blood soaking the dirt on the edges of the intense magical energies.

Soon ,the energies dissipated into the air leaving a two tailed fox creature in the center of glass ,and blood. Its fur was a silky white color that shined in the sunlight that came back after the pillar left. It also had gold streaks that kept moving in various directions along the fur, never stopping its change. The face of the fox creature was made out of a triangular black metal liquid acting like a mask against the outside world.

The creature looked around, seeing the sights of life after five hundred years of its death. Clearly this was a new world considering seeing many of the demi-humans struck by fear on the ground staring at himself.

'Hmm, so I've been reincarnated into this world, hopefully it holds my attention better than the last one.' He'd examine his right paw, swaying it back and forth while moving each digit with mechanical motion.

'So I'm no longer human, this is a good start, however I'm significantly smaller than a male adult so I'm possibly in the adolescence of this species development cycle. From what I can see I'm a Kyuubi type demon, yet on the lighter side of the spectrum.' He heard footsteps coming close, looking up he saw a few guards with basic chainmail with plates over their forearms and shins pointing their spears towards himself.

"Everyone step back from this creature, it could be a scout for an attack!" One of the guards stated while having trouble holding onto their spear st the possible threat before them.

'Oh? I can understand their language without issue, this will prove useful later down the line. for now I'd rather not test my mortality.' He backs up quite a distance with the guards keeping pace.

He devised multiple plans of actions and reactions with each step he took. Then a thought occurred to himself.

'Demi-humans and reincarnation in the middle of a town of sorts, laws of the world may be different here than back in my previous world. If this is the case, magic may be a factor in the preservation of my existence.' He remembered all the action movies and anime he's seen throughout the 23 years of his previous life with uncanny precision. As he analyzes the data through his memories one of the guards goes to strike the fox creature with their spear only to have it shatter against a glowing wall of blue light.

'It's a poor imitation of protection, but it works for now. Now let's go on the offensive.' He reshapes the blue wall of light into an orange blade that shooted out towards the guard, severing a part of the spear and half his face from each other. There was no time to scream for the only noise that sounded through the air was the searing sound of flesh being burned and wood instantly set ablaze.

Moments after the shocking revelation of the guards death, everyone broke out of their trance from the sound of the body smacking against the dirt ground. Many felt fear in this situation while others saw hope.

The remaining six guards were on edge after the sudden death of their comrade. Each pulled out their respective weapons to face the unknown opponent. This action was a futile one for they died where they stood, each one coughed up blood at the sight of their chest being impaled by beams of orange light. The blood that landed on the beams sizzled out of existence from merely grazing them.

All the slaves stood in awe, they just watched their tormentors die within a blink of an eye. Every single one of them looked at the fox creature and cheered at it. Many started to kick the corpses of the dead guards while others went over to the fox creature.

One demi-human stood out in particular, acting as the leader of the crowd. He bowed down before the fox creature.

"I am Jurik, Proud lizardman of the Red Scars. I like many here have been captured and forced to work here against our will. We thank you for killing our tormentors. I don't speak for everyone in this next phrase, but I would be honored to serve under you." The hulking 8'5" Lizardman bowed his head deeply towards the fox creature.

A few seconds of silence was long enough to make the crowd second guess their benefactors intentions, until he finally was able to speak through air magic.

"I barely know anything of this world to have anyone serve under myself. Besides you're selling yourself from one form of slavery towards another. Think of your consequences before taking action." There was no anger or demeaning tone in the fox creature's voice, it was calm and calculated to meet his needs.

The lizardman thought about what he said, realizing the blunder he just made.

"If you wish to work as equals I don't mind that, especially since I can tell who is good and evil in a relatively easy way." He looked at the crowd, watching as some of them flinch at the glaring eyes of the monster before them.

"If we are to be equals, I wish to know your name fox creature." The lizardman stands up and looks down at the fox creature with the same respect, for he knew who was the strongest here.

"You can call myself Impheares. I need to practice more theories of the magical arts here, could you bring me to more locations holding these guards who oppress your people? Once I kill them all and get the data I need  I'll leave you all to decide what to do with your newfound freedom" Impheares channeled magic over his right paw, watching as three different colored lights emerged, then a fourth... and fifth.
