15 The Explanation

While standing in front of the door Linri was extremely nervous. He had double-checked everything with Jaime. There shouldn't be any mistakes or rather there 'can't' be any mistakes. Everything seemed perfect but that was what made him nervous. There was no such thing as 'perfect' in the world. Everything could be improved. If you think something was perfect that was only because you haven't found the fault in it just yet. That was why it was important to get a second opinion from someone. You should never get arrogant and assume that everything was in your control. At least that was what his father taught when he was a kid.

"I'm coming" a feminine voice came from inside the house.

Linri knew that it was his mother opening the door so he relaxed a little. If it was his father he might have tried to go find the guys who beat Linri up like this.

Once she opened the door Lyra was shocked. His son was a bloody mess and a girl was helping him up.

"Sweetie! Are you alright? What happened? Quick get inside!" Lyra bombarded Linri with questions. She was genuinely worried about him but which parent wouldn't?

"Mom relax. It's not as bad as it looks. Ouch!" Linri grabbed to his side while faking pain. Actually, he didn't need to fake anything but he liked the dramatic flair of it.

She quickly showed them to the kitchen and rushed to the bathroom to get the first aid kit. While they were sitting his father stormed to the kitchen.

"Who did this?" It was such a simple question but Linri knew what his father meant. As soon as he gave some names he was going to find them and beat them up or maybe something worse. That was just the kind of man he was. He didn't care if you were in the right or wrong, as long as you hurt his son you would have to pay for it.

"Dad, don't worry. I also said the same thing to mom it's not as bad as it looks. Also, these are war scars" said Linri. While he was saying the last scene he gave a quick glance to Jaime in order to give his father a signal.

Seeing Linri's glance Arkady finally noticed the cute girl sitting next to Linri and seemed like he understood something. He sat in front of Linri while smiling.

"Ohhh, 'war' scars huh, tell me your 'heroic' tale then!" said Arkady while making a little 'good job!' sign towards him.

Just then his mother also came inside the room together with the first aid kit.

"I also would like to know that" said Lyra while taking out iodine and some cotton from the first aid kit. Her voice was obviously not as warm as his father's was when asking the question. Well, at least he got Arkady on his side so at least it was not going to turn into a big argument.

"Here is what happened- " Linri told them the story they agreed upon with Jaime while also tooting his own horn. " It would have been even better if I could beat them up but this was the best I could do *sigh* Ouch!" When he said the last part his mother pressed the iodine soaked cotton on his injury. Apparently, she didn't like him boasting in front of her. In retrospect, she was kinda right. One was a prodigal Kitsune while the other was the heir to a whole Werewolf Clan. So it didn't really seem as much compared to their achievements in the past. But seriously couldn't she just let him bask in his glory a little more?

"That's my son. You did well. Well done. I am proud of you." said Arkady pridefully while patting his shoulder. Linri could swear that he saw him tear up a little.

"Dad" Linri looked into Arkady with tearful eyes

"Son" Arkady looked back with also tearful eyes. It seemed like they were having some kind of man moment at that instance.

"Dad- Ouch!" Her mother pressed the cotton again almost saying cut the bullshit.

So both Linri and Arkady returned to reality.

"So who are you, young lady? What's your name?" Arkady changed the subject to Jaime in order to spare himself from his wife's fury.

At that point, everyone was looking at Jaime. She also came out of the trance she was in. At first, she was worried about Linri so she was watching Lyra tend to his wounds. Then when Arkady and Linri started to have their scherade she was thinking 'What a weird pair of father and son'. Spark was Max's RP buddy so she obviously knew that Arkady was based on his IRL father. That was why it was so weird. Because that would mean if this was the real world his father would have the exact same reactions. If it was just an RP character that would be fine but that was his real father? So when she heard the question she was deep in thought. 'Just who was Kasaix?'

"Huh? Oh yeah, sorry about my manners. My name is Jaime Voss. I was saved by your son there and-" so Jaime also told the story they agreed upon. When she was finished Arkady was a little emotional.

"Don't worry. You can stay here as long as you want. Mafia Boss or whatever the hell he is they can't do anything to you as long as you are with us" said Arkady in a reassuring tone. He was not going to let all the work his done go to waste. Arkady obviously wanted this girl to stay here. If she could marry his son, even better. She was cute, she seemed smart and she seemed well mannered. Where else could he find such a bride? He was seriously proud of his son for picking up this gem in the streets. He was sure that this son of his was carrying his genes and do the Harclaw family name justice.

"You are awesome Dad!" said Linri excitedly. The first phase of the plan was done. Tomorrow he was going to start working on the second phase. Man, it was going to be a sleepless night...

"Dear! Are you sure about that?" Lyra was not upset that they let the girl stay. What she was really upset about was that Arkady didn't ask her anything. If he did not give a reasonable answer he was going to have to sleep on the couch tonight. No one disregards the Mama Harclaw!

"Of course" replied Arkady. Then they seemed to have some kind of conversation telepathically. Linri was sure this was real telepathy considering her background, not the kind which he had with his father just now.

"Fine then. We have an empty guest room anyway. So you can stay as long as you like" Linri didn't know what his father said but Lyra seemed warmer all of a sudden. Quite curious indeed!

"Oh, by the way, can I look at that?" asked Lyra while pointing at Jaime's sword. Now, this was interesting. Maybe that sword had some kind of history. Linri did not think that Lyra would take any pointless actions.

Jaime was surprised by her request but she gave it anyway.

"Where did you get this?" asked Lyra after giving the sword a thorough look.

"It's my family heirloom. This and a book for some sword method. I don't know their background but they always belonged to our family as long as I can remember" said Jaime without hiding anything. Even though she was the creator she never really gave these objects a background so it shouldn't be a problem to tell her the truth. Maybe she could learn their origin from Lyra. She knew that Lyra was a Kitsune so she might really know something.

"What did you say your surname was?" asked Lyra. Now even Linri was getting curious. Just what was it that picked her mother's curiosity.

"Voss" Jaime did not know why she was asking but she replied anyway.

"Any parents or siblings?" Lyra seemed to get more and more into it.

"None. An accident happened and now I am the last member of my family" said Jaime with a little grief. She was really sad because she knew that if she can not find a way back she was really going to be all alone in this world. However, the only thing she could blame was her incompetence in writing backgrounds and maybe her luck for getting Jaime instead of Brie. Just what made Jaime so special anyway?

"Have you trained with them yet?" Lyra seemed to be getting more excited by the second.

"No, never really seemed necessary, till today at least" then Jaime gave a worried look towards Linri.

"That's a shame. Sorry for reopening your old wounds dear" said Lyra while giving her back the sword. She seemed somewhat disappointed?

"Linri, sweetie, why don't you show her to the guest room. It's not like you can't walk right" said Lyra while giving him a dirty look. She might have found Jaime interesting but that did not mean she was any less angry with him for putting himself in danger's way.

"Okay" Linri grudgingly accepted. Right now he just wanted to take some painkillers and hit the sack.

As they left the room Lyra looked towards Jaime with profound eyes. Since they went upstairs Arkady finally couldn't hold himself and started smirking.

"Ha-ha, that's my son alright. He even got my lady killer moves" said Arkady pridefully. He was really impressed with this little demon.

"What lady killer moves are you talking about. Anyway do you even know who did he bring here?" asked Lyra.

"What? Wasn't she some normal girl?" asked Arkady with a doubtful tone. He honestly couldn't see anything special with the girl.

"That's why, my dear, you have to read more books just like our son. Did you see that sword? That was the 'Silver Blade' and it seems like she is the next 'Sword Maiden'" said Lyra while smugly looking at him.

"WHAT! Sword Maiden? You mean THE SWORD MAIDEN? But they were missing for centuries. Aren't their lineage already extinct? Also if she is the heiress why was she harassed by some thugs?" He was still doubtful about what his wife just said. Because if she was right the severity of the situation would rise by at least tenfold and it would mean it wasn't just some random Mafia Boss interested in her.

"Yep, she is exactly that. Some members must have survived that calamity and protected their biggest secret in hopes that one day they can rise again. It seems like she never trained in the sword before. Also, something might have happened to her family before they could tell her the secret. I honestly can't believe that they didn't tell her anything before passing away" said Lyra and couldn't help but add.

"It seems like your son has even better luck than you with ladies. She found the Sword Maiden before she even awakened. It's not easy to erase this memory from her heart if he plays his cards right. Then again I don't know if this is the right thing to do?" Arkady could feel the worry from her wife's tone.

"What do you mean? Isn't it even better if our bride is the Sword Maiden?"

"Normally yes! But Linri ... well you know... he is 'normal'. He cannot survive that kind of life" Lyra was still hesitating while saying 'normal'. It seemed like she was expecting something but also wasn't sure about it.

"You know that's a baseless worry. He is my son. When the day comes, of course, he is going to awaken his Werewolf bloodline. I am 100% sure about that. He might be even more of a genius than 'her'. He is just a late-bloomer and that's it" said Arkady without a shred of hesitation or worry.

"But you know there wasn't a single mix breed that awakened their bloodline till now. If it was gonna happen it would have happened by now. I can feel that both bloodlines are fighting intensely inside his body and if one of them does not emerge victorious he has no hope" said Lyra.

"You are worrying too much. Anyway let's go I was still watching a movie before that rascal came back. At this point, I already missed the first half. I don't want to miss the other one."

So they left just like that.
