7 The Rescue

About an hour passed, which seemed like eternity. No one dared to utter a single word as everyone was focused to listen to every sound they could hear outside.

As the time passed the fire outside made from the wood of the benches died out and soon the whole area was covered in complete darkness. And so the eyes of everyone seemed to adapt to the surroundings.

Every once in a while some of the 3, often Jack, tried to get a peek from the outside to look if they could see something in the darkness, but there was nothing.

"Do you think the marksmen went away?" Marie asked curiously because the sniper hasn´t shot anymore after Wolfgang left the are.

"I think he is still out there anymore, he just waits until he can get a clear shot at us or reinforcements come to help the shooter." Reinhart stated after carefully judging the actions of the marksmen.

"So you think we'll be in trouble if he actually has reinforcements?"

"It could be, but our reinforcements should be here way earlier as his because the nearest military outpost where a battalion is stationed is just located outside of Chagny."

"Let's hope our troops are here faster. I can't wait to be out of this mess." Marie spoke with a little smile in her while thinking to herself that this chaotic situation will be over in a few hours at most, but little did she know that this was just the beginning.

What seemed like eternity was in reality just mere minutes if you were to check the time on a watch. After countless minutes that passed there was a reaction outside the palace it was nearly silent footsteps of several people walking towards the direction of Marie, Reinhart and Jack.

As soon as the footsteps were heard the three of them instantly entered combat mode and draw their weapons and pointed them to the door at the entrance. Minutes passed and nothing happened nobody wanted to enter the palace at all.

Maybe they went, or maybe they are just cautious that we are still there went through Marie´s brain as she waited for the several man to come into the palace or just to make some sort of sound so that she would knew they are still there and have not suddenly vanished from the earth.

"Thump", A dump sound could be heard outside after that was a succession of more identical sounding clangs. And then running soldiers could be heard outside who ran towards the palace. Before they entered the building one of the soldiers shouted.

"Is anyone of you alive?"

As soon as Marie heard the familiar sound of Wolfgang's voice she nearly jumped up from happiness, but before she could walk outside Jack signaled her to stop doing so. And then Jack peeked outside to look for Wolfgang and as it happens Wolfgang was there accompanied by several other soldiers clad in uniforms and equipped with the same weapons as Marie is.

After Jack signaled Marie again that it is safe to walk outside now, Marie ran to Wolfgang to say hello to him.

"Wolfgang you kept your promise!" Marie shouted with excitement, but to her bewilderment Wolfgang wasn't as excited as Marie was. And so Marie asked Wolfgang what is wrong with him.

"Wolfgang what's wrong with you aren't you happy that we got to see each other again?"

"Well you will also lose your smile when you're about to hear the latest news of the revolution." Wolfgang replied to Marie.

And so Wolfgang told Marie all events that took place since the start of the revolution. How the cities of Leuchtringen, Balbetory and other major cities in the south are already captured by the rebels or how other cities like Donnerhafen in the west are currently fighting against the rebels.

Marie, Jack and Reinhart were shocked by these devastating news, the revolution started like 10 hours ago and they already captured several major cities across Koheiwa, this is no laughing matter.

But what shocked them even more was the fact the even the royal palace got attacked by the rebels, but got dealt with by the royal guard of Her Majesty.

Marie couldn't even process all of the new information before one of the soldiers spoke to the four of them.

"I don't want to interrupt your reunion, but we have to go now. Our orders are to save every soldier in the vicinity and then leave Chagny ASAP."

And so all of them soon left the area of the palace to go to the central provisionally military outpost where all military personnel is supposed to meet and then await further orders from the higher ups.

Marie walked besides Jack and they soon walked near a pile of corpses who where all shot in the head by the soldiers. And by the interval of the shots these soldiers have to really good.

The group soon reached the outskirts of Chagny without encountering any soul on their way like the whole city was a ghost city. So Marie soon spotted the provisionally military outpost with several soldiers guarding the outpost.

Without any interference the group went inside the outpost to find a high ranking officer to get further orders and to get a place to rest, at least for one hour.

Little did anyone of the soldiers from the provisionally military outpost know that they have escaped a nightmare by giving up the city of Chagny.
