5 The Queen II

"Does anyone here have an idea besides to mass slaughter our own people?" Royal Chancellor Stanford spoke soon after the Queen left the room.

"Sir Stanford, we should wait and defend the major cities that are currently being attacked and try to fortify all other cities to prevent the rebels from taking them. Furthermore we should increase the security of the royal family to prevent an assassination." The one who spoke was Sir Radivil the minister of defence of Koheiwa.

"I agree with sir Radivil, sir Stanford." spoke Pototsky "We still don't know where the rebels got the weapons from, so we should try to also secure our borders with the Gothian Nations, especially Monichia."

"Ugh… fine. Write down all your propositions. Janek will collect them around 4 PM today. I'll show them to Her Majesty… after I get some sleep. You're all dismissed."

Sometime later

Royal Chancellor Stanford was sitting behind the large, beautifully ornamented desk. He was all documents the Janek gave him. The situation was dire – wrong decision could result in the rise of revolutionary tempers in the north of the Empire as well. Stanford couldn't let that happen.

Allowing the chaos of the rebellion being successful would mean all his effort would go to waste.

And that was just too much to lose.

You can't slaughter your whole nation, or else you won't have anyone to rule.

The decision was tough. The more Stanford thought about it, the more difficult it got. Wait or intervene right now, when there's still a chance of crushing the rebellion in its early state?

Then again, waiting for the events to develop further would make the Empire look like it's afraid to face some armed civilians.

The next idea that came to Stanford´s head frightened him. It was so bold, yet so simple.

"No, this can't happen. It's suicide. Or is it… Emire!"

"Yes, Sir Stanford?"

"Bring me General Coldwine here. And the Minister of Industry."

"Right away, Sir Stanford. Now, if you excuse me"

Emire left the chamber and closed the door. Stanford sighed. If his prediction is correct it would mean the end of the reign of Anastasia, but would also mean that the revolution will definitely fail.

Either way if my prediction is correct I can ensure my life and my position as Royal Chancellor and preserve the Empire of Koheiwa.
