6 Smokescreen

"Has anyone of you 3 an idea on how we could create a big smokescreen to cover us from the marksmen?" Marie spoke "In that way we could hinder the shooter from seeing us, with that Wolfgang would be safe – at least for the first few seconds until the comes out of the smokescreen."

Jack, Wolfgang and Reinhart were going to start thinking about a possible solution to this problem because no one wanted to die so easily.

"We could tear the benches apart lay our clothes over it and burn it and throw the wood outside. This should be enough to make enough smoke to distract the marksmen from shooting at me."

Wolfgang stated after he carefully observed his surroundings.

And so, the 4 of them started breaking the benches apart in total they broke about 5 meters of wood apart. After they collected the wood in one central place Jack, Wolfgang and Reinhart undressed their jackets and put it on the pile of wood.

Soon after Wolfgang pulled out a lighter and started a small little fire that soon spread like wildfire.

"Quick! We have to throw the wood out now!"

In the streaming rain right before the back entrance of a palace was now pile of wood covered with wet clothes that burnt like it could engulf the world in flames. Some minutes passed and the smoke produced by the fire was now so great that it covered an area of around five to six meters

"So, it's now all up to you Wolfgang report the situation to the higher ups and bring reinforcements with you." Marie shouted with a worried expression in her face, but to her surprise Wolfgang just looked at her with a smile and soon, Wolfgang has completely vanished into the thick smoke.

"Hopefully he will make it." Spoke Jack while looking at Marie to check if she is ok.

"He will, I know Wolfgang personally before we were drafted into the military, he never makes empty promises. We just have to wait here, defend this place and be safe." Reinhart mentioned while looking at Jack and Marie.

The former pile of wood was now a blazing pile of pure never ending raging fire that could devour anyone who would be stupid enough to go near it.

"So what do we do now that we blocked of our only exist?" Marie curiously asked the two men with a worried expression on her face, still thinking if Wolfgang is safe.
