3 Escape The Death

After Marie spoke her sentence the air around the 4 of them was suddenly dead silent, nobody could come up with an idea to prevent someone to go outside and report the situation to the higher ups. Sadly, for them they can't just walk deeper inside the palace to get to the front entrance to see if the stationed soldiers are there or not because after you enter the back entrance the only thing that will greet you is a massive stairway to the underground that leads to the tomb of a branch of the royal family.

The other idea they had was to walk around the palace till the one who had to report reached the front entrance, but this plan was also not feasible because the back entrance and the front entrance were separated by a massive wall with a height of at least 3-4 meters.

So, the only way is to run to the streets and go back to the barracks, but this was utmost dangerous because of the marksmen who could shot anyone who dares to be in his sight for to long.

"Marie are you insane? You will likely be killed if you just run to the barracks!" Jack spoke to Marie with a serious voice to persuade Marie from getting herself in danger.

"So, when you do it, you will not be in danger or what?"

"Marie you don't understand!"

This discussion went on for about 10 to 15 minutes or at least that was the assumption of Reinhart and Wolfgang. And so, after Wolfgang couldn't endure it anymore he spoke to Marie and Jack.

"Both of you stop. It doesn't bring any good if both of you argue."

"We will do it like this, I´ll run towards the barracks and report the situation to them and all 3 of you will give me support, so to say you 3 will try to spot the marksmen while he is focused on me and try to kill him."

Marie, Jack and Reinhart all nodded in unison after hearing the proposal of Wolfgang. While this plan was not the one with the least danger it can at least minimalize it. Marie could feel how the air around her suddenly went dry.

And so the plan was carried out swiftly, Reinhart leaned his body to the door to peek outside some seconds later the sound of a bullet hitting the ground could be heard. Reinhart was dazed for a moment before his mind came back to reality and went completely inside the building.

"Well I guess the marksman is still there. Did you saw him?" Marie asked while still looking a bit pale in the face from the shock of the nearly fatal gunshot on Reinhart.

"No not really there are so many positions he could be in." Spoke Reinhart as he tried to recover from this near death experience.

What should we do now we are locked in place and as soon as we walk outside we will get shot immediately? Maybe we could produce smoke to distract the marksmen?

As Marie thought of this she looked around to see if there is any wood that she could find any wood to burn to produce the smoke screen to block the field of view from the marksmen.

But Marie soon realized that there is no wood in her near vicinity.
