10 Chapter Ten: A Hero's Ideals

'Why'd you do it,' Mrs.Mystic sat across from both Lilly and Jack.

Both their arms were contained and their cuffs weren't easy to break.

On the other side of the one way glass, Anne and I watched the interrogation. We told Mrs.Mystic that she should've done one at a time, or let one of us, if not both, interrogate them. She reject all proposals.

She stood from her chair. 'As a hero, I'll protect everyone I can and use my powers for the greater good and on my life, I promise, I will never kill another human.'

Everyone was silent.

'Why you suppose she said that,' Anne played with her hands.

'Your guess and is as good as mine.'

Then, we saw it. Sweat began to form and fall from the faces of Lilly and Jack. Putting the pieces together, we realized that Mrs.Mystic used that short speech to use her powers and enter the thoughts of them. In doing so, shes intruding their thoughts, making them feel, nervous. Whatever they were hiding, it must be a horrible secret.

'Wait,' Mrs.Mystic fell backwards in her chair as if she just lost. 'That's why you want me dead?'

From the glass, Anne and I watched a woman who acted as the representative for all heros in this quadrant, who's involved with politics , and took in two dangerous people, Anne and I, wore mask that reaked of defeat.

'What do you think their reason for betraying us are?'

Thinking back to how Jack acted when he lost to us, I had but one guess, 'They want power.'

Mrs.Mystic stood up and approached the glass. 'I made a mistake,' she looked at us.

We were caught in shock. It was a one way glass and she knew excatly where we stood. What was more worrying is what she said.

'Warn everyone to evacuate n-'

And like that, before my very eyes, blood spurred all over the glass before I heard a body hit the ground.

'No,' My body shook all over. What I saw, I question if it was real or not. I couldn't begin to comprehend what occurred. Snapping back, grabbed Anne's arm, to hard, 'Go warn everyone!'

Anne moved faster than I. Transfering into her outfit, she went out the back door while I approached the interrogation rooms door. Opening it, I was rushed. A bloodied Jack, and a bloodied Lilly. Lilly pushed me against the wall with her water powers while Jack froze it immediately. Out the corner of my eye, I saw her body, Mrs.Mystic's body, lumped on the the ground, head pierced and neck slit.

'How,' I looked at the two of them standing there, 'How could you kill her?' As I was blinded to the wall, anger swelled in me.

'Simple,' Lilly mocked me.

'Power and-'

'AND?! AND WHAT! YOU'RE HEROS! THIS ISN'T RIGHT,' I struggled to break the ice, but I could only move my free limbs.

'And because Zen,' Jack slammed his palm tight around my throat and looked me in my eyes, 'We. We Were never heros.'

At that, it was like they have a cue to someone. Explosions were going off all around me. I could hear them from inside the room. 'What's going on,' I glanced all over furiously.

'Backup.'

'What?'

An explosion came to my right, blowing a hole in the wall into the room. Walking in were two girls dressed in black. The one of them had metal fist, must've been their powers, but they were covered in blood. The other had a blade, yet it wasn't touched by a single drop of blood.

'Who the hell are you?!'

'We said,' the first girl said dryly.

'No survivors,' he second girl sounded the excat same, they seemed to be twins.

'We were just toying with him, Yui, Mio,' Jack wore a disgusting grin.

'Just hurry up,' One twin spoke.

'We've killed 100, you kill one? Pathetic,' The others native accent blended with her English, she must be from Asia from their names and looks.

'100?' My words came out weak. My body was slowly freezing to the point where my organs would begin to suffer.

'Each,' The first twin spoke.

Coming in through the hole, another individual in a black cloak came in. This time, he was accompanied by a body. From all the screaming and explosions coming from around me, this hurt worse than anything else in the world. Anne, one arm missing, blood splattered all over her face, and her wound was wrapped.

'You're dead....'

'Who's that?' The man with Anne asked.

'Soon, another victim,' Lily added.

Jack looked at Anne, 'Manage to kill a champion? Impressive.'

'Wait-'

'What did you say,' the twins exclaimed, cutting the man off.

'These two are the angel and devil champions.'

'Jack and Lily you morons! Their power is much gre-'

Breaking free, I decapitated the man with a swift strike of my blade. 'Spectres Strike,' I whispered. The twins, Jack, and Lilly stared in fear and confusion.

I personally didn't know about this ability either, but seeing Anne hurt and dying I knew I had to do something. With this new ability, it allowed me to shift through physical objects, like ice. 'Your, gonna, die.'

Lilly used her water to wrap up her body except her head and bending joints and the same to Jack as he froze the water turning it into makeshift armor.

The twins beside me slide in their masks, Kitsune, which had pointy noses, slits as eye holes, and the traditional red and white color theme. One twins mask had pointy ears, the others were more rounded.

Standing over a large mans dead body, I gently placed Anne against the wall, and that's when I heard his voice again.

'Young one,' the demon in my head spoke where no one but me could hear him.

'What?'

'Control your anger, if you continue like this, you'll become someone you won't be pro-'

I slapped the sides of my head, 'SHUT UP! I'M NOT LOSING ANNE, EVEN IF IT MEANS LOSING MY HUMANITY,' I spun around to face the enemy. My eyes were wide, filled with rage. My right hand held onto a blade, now soaked in blood, while my left was balled into a fist. My pitch dark outfit loomed in the light. I could see and sense the fear in my opponents.

'Zen, we're sorry, ok? Can you ju-'

'YOU KNOW HIM TOO!' The twin with the small ear Kitsune barked at Lily.

'Look, Yui, we thought he was weak,' Lily was using her powers to make a shape in her hand.

'Don't , Yui, me.'

Tired of idle chit chat, I held my sword by the handle angled like a spear, and the I moved my arm back before realing it out forward. Just like that, it sunk right into Lily's face, killing her instantly.

'What have you done? You killed he-'

Zooming up to Jack's face, I grasped his face and lifted him up, 'And you'll be next.'

As he placed his arm on mine, trying to freeze it over, the twins Yui and Mio charged at me.

'Bloodriddened Strike!'

Not releasing Jack, I used my inhuman speed to turn around, reacting to the twin Yui's attack, making Jack act as a shield. Before my very eyes, I watched as her blade made contact with him, and like that, his blood spurred out crazily.

'Shit! Unfu-'

I tossed Jack into her. Her attack in perspective seemed strong, but in reality she need extreme precision. Her cut had actually gone deeper than I thought, clipping an organ. Her twin must be gifted with illusion powers. My head hurt when the twin Yui hit Jack, as if that's when I know I'm looking at a fake reality. By that knowledge, I reached my hand out to my right, and grabbed someone by the neck. Watching Mio disappear from infront if me, she was now in my hand too my right. I was spot on. Looking at Jack, I could see the blade that seemed to be a sickle scratching him, was a katana piercing him. Yui's gift must allow her to strike anywhere if she can imagine it, "bloodriddened strike," more like "organ piercer."

'Release her!' Yui struggled to push Jack off.

'If you say so,' I threw Mio at them.

A grunt came from the disgusting piece if filth on top of both girls.

'Wanna share something shitface?' I approached them slowly.

'I th-' He coughed some blood, 'I thought you were suppose to be a-' he coughed more blood again, 'A hero.'

I paused, 'Maybe that won't due.'

'YOU'RE IDEALS!! WHAT ABOUT TH-'

Jack began to annoy me, so I beheaded him. 'My ideals? Well you're dead now, but maybe my words will read you in the afterlife. My ideals are no longer applicable.....'
