19 Chapter Nineteen: Reunion

Sitting at a red light, a loud snore was produced from behind.

'She really snores? Unlucky us.'

'Rather you say unfortunate, sounds better.'

Anne shot me a glance.

'Ok ok, unlucky us.'

'Better.'

The light turned green and we, slowly, proceeded down the road.

'If we didn't have Ruby with us, traversing on foot would be a preferable method,' looking at the traffic we were in, I tapped my fingers in the steering wheel as I nudged the pedal.

'Don't remind me.'

Pulling up into a parking garage, I drove up to the third story. Getting out the car, Anne carried Ruby on her back.

Heading towards an elevator, we entered in and gone up more. Reaching our designated floor, we headed towards room 233. Knocking, a voice came through.

'Who?'

'Yui?'

The locks of the door could be heard flying off before the door swung open. Standing their, a girl in a black dress with a red ribbon around her waist was present, 'Zen? But I tho- I just,' tears came down her face, 'I just-'

I wrapped my arms around her, 'Anne told me, it's all right. She didn't mean it,' I caressed her hair, 'Anyways, Mio around? Got y'all a gift.'

'No, Mio's out gathering info about our mothers whereabouts.'

I pulled away, 'For how long?'

'Now that you mention it,' Yui's saddened face turned panic, 'More than two days!'

'Anne-'

'Yeah yeah,' Anne walked by with Ruby.

'That's my mom!'

'Yeah yeah,' I closed the door behind us, 'Look, do you have Mio's number?'

'Of course,' Yui gave it to me, 'How ya gonna find her?'

'I got methods.'

Running into the police station, I was now in civilian clothes. Jeans, slip-ons, white t-shirt, unzipped jacket and uncombed hair. 'Officer! Officer!'

'Sir?!'

Slamming my hands on the desk, I talked quick and panic, 'My girlfriends gone missing! It's been days and I think she might be in trouble!'

'Sir, calm down. Are you sure it is-'

'If her phone was gone, or her apartment left unlocked doesn't mean shit! Then I'll fucking find her!'

'Ok sir, just give me her number.'

In the back of my head, I wanted to smirk, 'Of course,' I read it out to him.

'Says shes in a warehouse way off towards the coast. We'll gather units to move on tha-'

'No need,' I switched into my outfit, 'Let a hero take care of this.'

'Wait, who are you?'

'Forgotten already? Fine by me,' going towards the door I pushed it open.

'Wait! What happened to all the other heros!?'

'It's up to you heros now,' I looked directly at the officer behind the desk now, 'Flashy powers can't beat the old,' I exited the building.

With the cold wind hitting hard against my face, I looked over to Anne. Just like the night we saved Ruby, just instead if an old abandoned building, we were already atop the warehouse. Peering down through the skylight, we saw only Mio.

'It's a trap,' Anne whispered.

'Then like a fish, we'll take the bait. Just only, you grab and go.'

With a simple nod, Anne opened the skylight.

Dropping down, I heard someone approaching me.

'Well, well, well,' A man with black leather gloves, skinny jeans-tight enough to cut off his blood flow, and no shirt on either. His hair was messily done, and his eyes were brown like autumn leaves.

'And you are?'

'Names idiotsayswhat.'

'Idiotsaidwhat?'

'What?'

'Dumbass,' I snickered.

With his brow furrowed, he slammed his foot against the concrete, creating a small crater, 'Actually, they call me tombstone,' he punched his knuckles into each other.

'Tacky.'

'It is not!'

'Is too.'

'Nah uh,' then he looked behind me, 'You're just distracting me!'

'Nah uh,' feeling a tug, Anne and I leapt out through the roof.

'Let's hurry,' Anne tossed me Mio as Tombstone busted through the roof under her, 'New plan, you go, I catch up!'

With ever instinct telling me to drop Mio and help, I trusted Anne, 'Ok!'

'Now that he's gone,' Anne's body was enveloped by a bright light before it begun to look as if she was wearing armour.

Tombstone covered his eyes to aviod being blinded.

In that moment, Anne torpedo her feet into his chest and into the ground. With dust from the debree rising up a tug came. Clearing, Tombstone held tightly onto Anne's leg.

'Well done girly,' slamming his free hand into the ground, he propelled himself upwards and with Anne still in his grasp, he chucked her into the fan.

With the many craters and holes scattered into the roof now, it began to collapse.

Crashing, Tombstone used his inhuman strength to clear the rubble around him.

With the protection of her power, Anne charged through the flying rubble before landing a blow from her right fist into Tombstone's face.

With blood spilling out through his gritted teeth, he rammed his fist right into her chest.

Blood then proceeded to spill out between her teeth.

Exchanging blows, no normal human would be capable of surviving without having one of the fist penetrating through their fragile skin.

Going for another punch, Anne dodge Tombstone, got behind him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and pile drived him into the ground behind her.

Rising, Tombstone planted his feet in the ground before slamming his head into Anne.

Catching his head, Anne yanked his head down back into the ground.

Struggling to pick himself, he coughed out blood. 'I....will not....-' he coughed up more blood, 'I will n-'

Without hesitation, Anne knocked him out with a kick to the head.

Police sirens could be heard off in the distance.

'Guess I should catch up.'

Out of our costumes, Anne in her dress, I in jeans and black tee, sat on Yuri's couch along with Mio.

Standing on the other side of the coffee table, both Ruby and Yuri were present.

'I'd like to ask some questions,' I leaned forward.

Ruby looked up to me, 'I'm guessing it's towards me,' she said coldly.

'Bingo,' I pushed myself up off the couch, 'How was a hero as strong as you are, caught so easily and unable to protect your family?'

'They got to them before I.'

'Bullshit.'

'Hey! That's my mom and I think shes had it rough, don't you,' Yuri got pissed at me.

'So what, you're suggesting none of us have had anyone of recent! I just wanna know: what the hell are you hiding?'

Ruby crossed her arms, 'I think you should leave.'

'So you admit to it?'

'Leave,' steam was rising off Ruby's skin.

'It's because we're champions, isn't it?'

'Let's just go Zen,' Anne tugged at my arm.

'Happy reunion, assholes,' Anne and I walked out there apartment at that.

Ruby was definitely hiding something. That piece of information could bring them closer to finding the masterminds behind heros eradication, yet she withheld her tongue. If Ruby wasn't scarred, she must have been a traitor in some demeanor.

'Zen,' Anne wrapped her arms around mine, 'Don't lose your cool again?'

'Again?'

'You act to stupid at times,' she brought my face close to hers, 'Zen-'

'Anne,' my heart was pounding, but in a good way.

'If we survive this, let's get married,' her lips were inches from mine.

Speechless, I bit my lip, 'Sure.'
