4 Chapter Four: Old Friends New Enemies

'The Names Mrs.Mystic,' She opened the double door.

'The, Mrs.Mystic!?'

'So my reputation exceeds me,' she smirked.

'Who?'

I placed my hand on Anne's shoulder, 'You don't know who Mrs.Mystic is?! She's not only one of the coolest looking heros to exist in recent times, but she's captured more villains, criminals, and she's even apprehended terrorist before they became a terrorist!'

'Really?'

Kid's of all ages, five and up, ran by us.

'Welcome, to our greatest building down here! The Super School!' She tossed her arms above her shoulders.

'Wait, we're gonna be-'

Mrs.Mystic poked my face, 'Yes.'

A buff teacher, who looks like they're suppose to be a gym teacher, approached us, 'These two the "champions" Mrs?'

'Yes indeed,' she walked away, 'Goodluck kiddos!'

'Huh,' Anne was lifted off her feet, 'Huh?!'

I recognized the man now. He was a superhero with a buff build to make his opponents think he has a self-strengthing power, but in reality he had telekinesis. Floating upside down, my t-shirt fell over my eyes. 'Well this is pleasant.'

'Zen.'

I couldn't see because of my shirt, 'What's up?'

'Their's a lot of kids in the bleachers,' she used her feet to lift my shirt.

Analyzing the area, it was the school gym, lit by the natural light of the outside, leaving the interior between the stages of being dark and bright. Staring at the bleachers, I saw many older kids, all in my age group I presumed, talking with one another, in costumes. Two stood out to me the most, but I couldn't figure it out why.

Feeling gravity reestablish itself, Anne and I slammed onto the cold ground. Without warning, lights beamed on us. Both of us began to spin sporadically. We were placed in the center of what seemed like an Arena, and we're being displayed as center attention.

Opposite from us two more lights came on, revealing two more bodies. Recognizing them, they were from the bleachers.

Out in the corner of my eye, the buff man huffed, 'Now show me "champions!" Are you worth our trouble? To prove it, win this fight, or die trying,' his tone was serious.

Facing our opponents, they took off their mask.

I couldn't grasp what I saw, I refused to believe it but a thought reemerged in my head. The feeling of abandonment of those that I put my trust and faith in.

'You filth ought to rot,' Jack wore a disgusting grin.

'Orders are simple. Beat us or die,' Lily lacked her sweet and tender voice of hers. What remained was that of an A.I.

'Zen aren't tho-'

'They're friends no more,' I made sure to announce it so they could hear me as well.

Without warning, the buff man blew a whistle and the two before us came at us.

With my left hand a sheath formed. With my right hand, I drew out the blade, listening to it hit the bamboo sheaths shell. At once I transformed. My costume enveloped me taking away my imaginary sheath.

Staring in awe, Anne placed her right hand to her side, summoning her staff. Similar to my outfit, all that differed was Anne's hair turned white and her costume was primarily white with black accents.

With ice forming around our feet, Anne and I jumped up above it.

Being barraged by sharp water particles, Anne spun her staff and maneuvered it on all sides of her. Doing so had created a strong wind dome around her, halting and effacing the droplets.

Unlike her, I had a meer blade, so instead I took all the droplets that came at me. Protecting my eyes I crashed onto the ground.

Anne had, elgentaly, floated downwards. Looking down at me, she offered me help to stand back up, and being her best friend I took that offer. 'These moves seems so old, as if I've trained in practicing them-'

'But you've never done it in your life before?' I added.

'You said it.'

I had a theory, but now was far from sharing theories.

Without warning, Jack and Lily had intruded our space. Jack went in for a side sweep on me while Lily went for an jab to Anne's nose.

Jumping straight upwards, I sprouted wings from out my back. Spreading out far left and out far right they were like extra bones to my skeletal structure. No skin covered them just exposed bone and muscle holding it together.

As Lily's palm came close to her nose, Anne slammed her face into her hand. With a violent cracking sound, she must've broke Lily's hand.

Swooping down I sheathed my sword and jabbed the butt of my sword into Jake's gut. With the great force Jake went flying out the arena and into the wall of the gym.

The buff man had blown his whistle.

At that, I landed beside Anne and we returned to our original appearances.

'Seems you live to fight another day, join the rest of these "heros".'

Anne and Zen were sent to the bleachers with the rest of the kids. People moved away from the two. Kids began to whisper, some quiet, others not so much.

Coming in the room were a group of nurses. Taking both Lily, who held a pained expression, and Jake, unconscious and blood spilled a little from an injury on his head, they left the room.

Feeling someones gentle touch on my shoulder, I started to breathe again. I didn't even realize I was holding my breathe. I looked at my hands, balled into fist, I flattened the on my knees.

'Zen, it's all right,' Anne said softly.

'Thanks,' I said disgruntled.

'What for?'

'For being by my side, being someone I can trust, a pers-' she pressed her finger against my lips.

'It's fine,' she reassured me.

I still couldn't grasp that my two friends have now become people who harbor great hate to us...as if they knew I was to become this...this..this monster.
