11 Chapter Eleven: A Vengeful Spirit

The twins dodge each one of my attacks. Faster than the last. Ice crumpled off my body as I swung my blade. Connecting blades with Yui, Mio thought her powers would fool me, but simply I countered her everytime. Her mask was now destroyed on the ground.

The two of them were panting.

'Why? Why did you barge in here? Kill so many? Kids and elders alike? WHY,' The more I fought, the more I felt like a demon from urban legends.....

.....'Mama?'

'Yes my child?'

I remember my mother so vividly. My father normally was always busy with work, so he wasn't around a lot. I didn't hate him though, rather it made me love him more. The fact he'd sacrifice spending time with us in a low paying job just so I could live a good life, showed how much he cared. When he was around though, he always made up for the time missed.

'Could you read me anotha stowy?'

When I first heard of demons, it was when I was around the age of five, maybe six.

'Fine, one more,' she leaned in and tickled me.

That innocent smile of my, I can remember being super ticklish and how my giggle was something my parents wished to treasure.

'Let me read you a scary story.'

'Is it really scary?'

She boopd my nose, 'Noooo,' she said reassuringly. Opening a book, it was thick and red, but she skipped halfway through. 'There was once a friendly demon-'

'But Father Erin said that all evil is the work of the devil.'

'Well this one in particular is a nice one-'

My mother went on to tell a story of how this devil went on to do many good deeds. How the devil betrayed other demons to do good rather then spread disaster. Yet no matter how good the devil was, people feared his looks. No matter what he did, he fell into suffering and pain. However hard this devil tried, he failed in the end.

'Mama?'

'Yes my sweet child?'

'Do you think the devil just lacked someone to protect?'

'And why would you say that,' My mother turned her head sideways to me.

'Papa told me he feels strong everyday knowing what he does is for us, so he gets strength from the idea of protecting us.'

'I guess so,'...

Mio was out if ideas. Charging at me, she was ready to die to save her sister. She was crying. Parrying Yui and wrapping Mio in my arms, I pulled her in by the waist, avoiding her breast.

'How old are you?'

She sniffled up her tears, '19.'

'WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY SISTER!' Yui yelled but made no effort to move. She was afriad I'd off her sister.

'You two didn't kill anyone, did you?' I pushed Mio into Yui. I looked down at my hands. Blood was splattered over them. I had let anger consume me. Ignored all who tried to guide me right, for anger.

'What do you mean we've never killed anyone? How could you be so su-'

'Because, that man reaked of bloodlust, you two are just scared. You were forced by Jack and those other men? Tell me the truth,' I held a bloody blade.

Yui stepped forward, taking her mask off, 'Talking to you might get us killed, what are you offering?'

'Don't tell me and I'll kill you anyways.'

They sighed.

'They have our mother in custody. They simply told us to act clueless and occupy you while they kill off the heros. We're not sorry.'

'Don't be,' I thought about my parents, 'I just wish, you took a different approach.' I sheathed my blade and approached Anne, 'Could I even save the others?'

'No,' Mio sniffed.

'Could I ask you two a favor?'

'Like we'd help you, you monster,' Yui added.

I looked at Anne, taking in slow breathes, 'Can you take that girl to a hospital to get treatment? Shes the only person I care about in this world anymore.....like you to your mother.'

They both looked at Anne. Whatever had gone through their heads, Yui and Mio put on their masks.

'If you save anyone, we'll be impressed,' she gave me a weak response as her and Mio picked up Anne and left.

'I hope I was making the right decision,' I mumbled to myself as I left the room. Upon exiting the room, I immediately saw heros pinned against villains. Running over to help, I got hit hard in my side and into the ground. The ground around me was broken, smashed, and flung all around me. Grunting in pain I looked at the roof of the cave. It was destroyed in some areas creating craters upwards which made rocks fall down on the structures. The underground utopia built for those with unique gifts, powers, being destroyed all around me.

Looming over me, it was a face I couldn't forget. Reaper. On my first mission, we had made an encounter.

'You,' I said weakily.

'Glad you remember me,' he spun his scythe from his arm before letting it stop and sink into my chest.

I hollered in pain, 'AHHHHH!!'

It didn't give far enough time hit a vital organ, but it didn't feel pleasant either.

'And seeing as you recognize me, I'm here to get my revenge. While my "friends" are kill your allies, you'll be mine.'

At that I smirked at him.

'What's so fun-'

I yanked down on the chain of his weapon pulling him towards me.

Loosing his footing, Reaper ripped his scythe out my chest.

'Argh,' I grunted as I moved to my feet forcing him to retreat backwards. Moving my hand over my wound it was some what deep. If I didn't get this wound treated, I feared death may pay me a visit.

Reaper spun his blades off his arms, 'So you made me move,' he let one stop spinning sending it flying past my face and pulling it back, 'Try and beat me now.'

Standing their, I felt like a certain action was a due. Thinking with all my might, my katana blade had turned into a pair of iron armored gloves, 'Sure,' I opened my palms placing them on the ground and with all my might I propelled myself at him, 'HERE I COME!'
