1 The Accident

"Two more orders for the blueberry cupcake and one chocolate mousse!!", Allis yelled at Kian, as he hurriedly passed the orders to the customers standing on the other side of the marble countertop, Kian was carefully packing the pastries in small white boxes and arranging them neatly on the counter. It was Friday evening and the bakery was bustling with people. Kian smiled looking at how well his new business venture was doing.

Growing up in an orphanage he had never thought that he would get to open his shop. It was tiny and a little shabby compared to all the other high-end bakeries but the taste and quality of the desserts there made it popular in the locality. Though he opened this shop with the help of a huge loan he took with his friends Allis and Will, who were both omegas and also his roommates, he could already feel this startup being a success.

The shop is finally getting some good business, Kian thought to himself as he ran back to the bakehouse behind the counter. His eyes moved to the huge wall-clock and he gasped in shock. "Nooo! It's already 7, I'm gonna be late again." Kian hurriedly changed his clothes into a red and black uniform and packed his items.

Kian had known Will since he first came to the orphanage, he was like his younger brother. And though Allis was introduced to them pretty recently, both of them had grown accustomed to his reserved yet amiable nature.

To work part-time aside from the bakery to meet the daily requirements for the three of them was nothing new to Kian. Buying expensive suppressants every month for Will and Allis, the high rent for the apartment in a decent neighborhood with fewer crimes against omegas and above all the huge loan that was taken to start the bakery, all required Kian to work harder every day.

Despite all the difficulties, Kian never blamed Allis and Will for not taking extra part-time jobs. He understood that for them finding a job is extremely difficult, let alone finding one with a safe environment to work in. Since Kian was a beta finding work was easier for him. And though his life was very hectic due to his multiple shifts he was still very happy because both his friends never complained about him not doing any chores.

"Hey!! Where are YOU going?". Kian heard Will's high- pitched voice behind him as he pulled the glass door with an open sign on it. "I have my shift Will!!, I'll lose my job if I am late one more time!!", Kian replied annoyingly. "What about all this?? Who's gonna manage so many people?? Wasn't this bakery your dream??", Will asked, rhetorically. Kian stepped back inside, "Sorry I know but you know I have the loan and I am only doing this for all of us! Allis is here to help you. Pleeease!", said Kian pouting his lips at Will who was standing there holding trays. "Fine. Be careful", Will said, turning his back to Kian, who gave him a quick flying kiss and left.

Kian ran up the giant staircase and pulled the heavy glass door towards him to enter the magnificent building. It was one of the most expensive and exquisite hotels in the city and getting the job of the bellhop here was too difficult for someone like Kian who looked like a delicate little omega with his fair skin, wavy chocolate brown hair, and hazel eyes. When Kian got this job last week he felt grateful because his previous job as a cleaner in an office building was comparatively more exhausting and degrading.

"He is the new guy ??", Hotelier asked in confusion, scanning Kian from head to toe. Kian looked at his boss who nodded to the Hotelier giving him a slight smile. "Whatever, just make sure there is no mistake today. There will be a huge party today on the ninth floor so I won't be available", Hotelier said without looking at the Head who followed him until he left the room.

Kian was relieved that he managed to get there on time. "The job at the hotel was going well and the bakery was also working out perfectly", Kian thought to himself, "My life is finally coming back on track". After a long time, he had felt truly happy. It was a difficult time for him when his mother ran away one night from their house due to the abusive nature of his father and left Kian all by himself. The very next day his cruel father angrily left him at an orphanage saying he never wanted a child with that woman.

But luckily he found Uncle Levi who used to run that orphanage. Uncle Lee made Kian believe that the world is not all ugly and unjust as he had witnessed. He and all the other orphans at his orphanage became Kian's new family. Kian owed everything he had to this point to his dearest Uncle Lee, who taught him how to be happy and live his life with determination and purpose. He was the only person in this world that Kian could trust blindly.

It was already late and Kian's shift was about to finish. His last task was to move the baggage from the rooms to the parking lot and place it inside the cars. He was feeling exhausted beyond belief as he kept dragging the trolley to its destination. As he managed to bring the trolley outside he noticed the slope which led to the car park. He brought the trolley to the slope and started pushing the trolley down the slope. However, to his surprise, it rolled off of the slope uncontrollably. Worried that this might cost him the job Kian quickly bolted towards the trolley to get a hold of it. But before he could reach it he felt a sudden jerk that threw his body on the ground.
