8 Learning How to Make Money

That night I made plans on how to solve our family's money problem. First I made a list off all the things that will become popular in the future. Since I also come from a more modern society, I also know inventions that hasn't been created here yet that I can sell.

I chose from that list which are the ones I can implement now. This will be good. Money is always important, with money you can do almost anything you want, plus this will solve the problems of the household and Elaine's parents won't hate her anymore.

I don't know what I should think of them. I never really had parents and don't know how to interact with them. I should count myself lucky that they don't know Elaine very well either that they don't suspect me, but I felt bad towards Elaine.

Every time I made eye-contact with our mother or father, there was a clenching in my heart. This was definitely not my feelings since I don't even know them, but perhaps it was Elaine who longed for her parents' approval.

I couldn't even comprehend the fact that I had a family now. They also didn't feel like one, after all they were Elaine's parents not mine.

With that thought, I slept through the night.

I woke up the next day to the sunlight shining on my face. I hated having to wake up in the mornings, but I forced myself to sit up as I had a lot of things I need to do today.

Lisa, another maid, has become my personal maid now, she was the one who opened the curtains when I woke up and she was ready with a big bucket of warm water this time. She helped me dress up to go into town as I wanted to make money.

Last night I realized that even though I knew many things of value, there is nothing I can do if I cannot produce them and that also required money. Everything in life requires money.

Even in another life I'm still as poor as a homeless person, but I won't give up. I thought a way I can still make money is to invest my money. Going into town I took with me all of my jewelry in a brown leather pouch and sold them at a nearby pawn shop. The store was empty, all you can hear is the swinging of the door as I entered the store.

"What can you give me for this," I asked underneath my cape. I wanted to keep my identity as a secret since I know the towns people aren't exactly fond of Elaine as she always abused her power as the daughter of a Marquess.

The bearded pawnshop owner was halfheartedly hearing my request and took a look inside the pouch. His eyes grew wide at the jewels inside. He took out a monocular and saw the purity of the stones he gave me his price. I tried to bargain with him and eventually we settled on 500 gold coins for everything that I had.

I made Lisa carry half of the coins on her person just in case we got mugged. I don't even want to think of the possibility of losing this much money or even my life due to another incident like that.

After that I went to the stores I know were going to be popular since I read the book "The Lost Princess." There were two stores that I planned to invest in. One was a café that I visited yesterday. I went there since I recognize the name from the book, it was called "The Little Bell."

I went inside the café and asked for the store manager. At first he thought I was joking around and was a lady who had too much time on my hands since the cafe wasn't doing very well. But after I showed him the amount of gold coins I had, he quickly pointed me towards the location of the owner's house. Since the place was rather far, I decided to visit the other place I wanted to invest in. It was a boutique called "Blue Ribbon."

After asking the same thing to the manager, it turns out both the boutique and the café were owned by the same person. He lived on the street of rich merchants and his name was Cedric.

I was still nervous about carrying so much money, but I knew this had to be done for my future. Little cannot be solved by having money. I kept wondering how Elaine had felt. Maybe she was pressured by her family to have to marry Alex, the future prince in order to keep their social status and not be bankrupt. It was a lot of pressure to put on a young girl and in the end it let to her demise.

As I thought about it, me and Elaine had a lot in common, but the most similar thing is that we were both alone in the world. I had no one to lean on financially, no family. Elaine had family, but they ostracized her due to money problems. We were both young women who didn't have anyone we could trust and had to fend for ourselves.

Is that why I was reincarnated as Elaine? I'm actually still in disbelieve this is not just a dream and I might be in a coma somewhere in the real world. But this felt too real to be a dream.

As I thought these things I walked all the way to the merchant street with Lisa behind me. We looked around for the building that was described to us as the owner's house. It was supposed to be a big house like a small mansion with a blue rooftop and crème painted walls.

After walking through so many houses we were getting tired, but I forced myself to find the owner's house. Perhaps I should've brought a carriage, but I didn't wasn't to attract any attention.

It was already in the evening when we finally saw the owner's home and I walked up to the front door and gave it two knocks. As quick as a cat, the door opened and I met the same dark blue hair and black eyes as I did yesterday.
