Dormitory

"Are you done? You can leave if you are." Mr. Singh sat upright, put on his glasses that were sitting on the desk, and turned his head back to the document he was reading before she came in.

"Is that your reaction to our son's plight?" Madam Singh asked unbelievably.

"If you have a better solution, feel free to carry it out. After all, he's your son too." He said, not bothering to raise his head as he flipped to the next page.

The next thing he knew, the paper was pulled away and before he could raise his head, the tearing sound of a paper greeted his ears. He raised his head abruptly to see her smiling smugly at him.

"Is this not why you don't want to help my son? For this lousy company? I made you and this company and I'm going to destroy you both if a hair on my son's head go missing!" She hissed and went out with her head held high like she just accomplished the greatest achievement in her life.

Mr. Singh's gaze continued to follow her till her silhouette disappeared out the door. He held his head with his hands and placed his elbows on the desk.

He didn't know what to do to her. What should he do to her to make her feel how he has been feeling all these years of their marriage. He was lost in his thoughts that he did not hear the knock on the door.

Anushka walked in to see her dejected boss lost in thought. She walked forward and stopped before the desk. Then the corner of her eyes caught sight of torn pieces of paper on the floor.

She walked over and bent to pick up the papers. When she saw the content after piecing two and three together, she was shocked to find out it was the partnership contract drafted by her last week for the meeting happening in a minute.

"Vick Singh there is no time for that right now. The meeting with the government is only a minute away. Go quick, I will bring the new contract in a while." She didn't even know she just called him by his old school name.

Vikram Singh was frozen in place. He gently lifted his head to stare at the woman who was picking the papers in haste. Her hands were…shaking?

He stood up and walked to her, pulled her up, and hugged her. "It's okay, I will be fine."

"How can you be fine? If anything goes wrong in the ceremony today the company you worked so hard to build will crumble." She said admist sobs as her tears ran freely on her cheeks.

"It was all thanks to you that the company didn't collapse. With you by my side, I will rise again after i fall." He wiped her tears with his palm and let her go. "See you later," he strode off, not before giving her a quick peck on her head.

....

At the school, the dorms were allocated. Vicky ended up with a nerd as her dorm mate. Not that she cared, in as much she doesn't bother her sleep.

In the room, Vicky was lying down for she was the first to leave the field after the principal dismissed them with Samrat Singh taken away.

That guy sure has a long detention ahead of him.

His arrogance was curbed a little when he saw his mum and dad couldn't help him.

He started to believe that the school was not hyped.

He read the rules and regulations on the school site but didn't take them seriously cause almost all the schools around the world have one or two rules broken by students once in a while without the school authorities doing a thing about it.

"H–hi, I'm Jiya Rathore. I suppose you are my roommate since I met you in here?" A girl with round glasses said as she waved st Vicky who was half sleeping.

She has a head full of curled black hair with a small face and a pair of incisor teeth–a little longer than usual. However, they make her prettier when she smiles.

She was wearing a knee-length blue dress opened on both sides with net sleeves taped at the edges with the same blue gown material.

She had a scarf on her neck, leaving both ends flowing freely, paired with same blue leggings and low heel sandals. From head to toe, she looked beautiful and decent with a happy vibe.

Vicky who was lying on a bed with a black and white striped bed cover pulled to her chest, assessed the girl standing not far away with half-closed eyes.

"Hm, Vicky." She answered and closed her eyes.

Jiya stared at the sleeping girl for a while. "Even with her eyes closed she is still very beautiful." She whispered to herself and walked to her own side of the room with peach bed sheet and covers awaiting her.

She gasped in surprise when she saw almost everything at her side was decorated with small peaches, so exclaimed in joy. " These are my favorites! This school is so good with research. They made my dream come true!"

She and her brother had been here for four days, buy they were all given a temporal residence to stay in until today.

While screaming in excitement, Jiya forgot that she had a roommate– someone who hates everything but sleep and food was sleeping not far away.

"Another loud noise and you are out of this room!" Vicky snapped.

Jiya was first shocked when she heard the girl sleeping snapped at her in annoyance , so she quickly apologized, "Sorry," she whispered and continued browsing the room.

The room was as big as a sitting room in a mansion. A chandelier hung from the ceiling. The wall was painted cream color, with each end belonging to each student. Her bedding wasms light peach and her drawer was brown and Vicky's was black.

Each side has a long and short couch with fluffy rugs on some part of the floor. It looks more like a huge sitting room rather than a dorm room.

She walked to the opened door by her left and in there was another space with a huge mirror, not exact floor–to–ceiling, but was more than enough for a person to see their full reflection hanging on the wall.

In a small corner by the mirror were a dressing table and a chair with her favorite cosmetic products, skin care products, and perfumes.

By the right side close to the bedroom door was a walk–in–closet with her uniforms neatly arranged, and shoes of different ranges from low heels to slippers were placed on a shelf.

She hasn't seen the bathroom yet, so she turned to look around and noticed a door opposite the walk–in–closet. She walked towards the door and opened it. "Oh my God!" She exclaimed.

Inside the door was a walk–in–shower, there was a sunken bathtub, a small mirror hung on the wall and a peach shelf for toiletries.

"Isn't these too extravagant? Are we still university students? Why didn't they just make the room into a normal one or just give us an apartment each? This is unbelievable!"

Although, structure of the school already was beauty–defying, she didn't expect to see things like this inside the dorms. These were way more than what rich people enjoys!

She walked into the bathroom, closed the door behind her, and went on touching the things her hands could touch while exclaiming "Wow, wow, wow," like a police siren. She took out her phone and started taking pictures and videos. Those were meant for her mother and godmother.

...

After Jiya's adventure, the sky was already turning pinkish. She went into the room and saw her roommate was not there.

She sat on her bed and unlocked the screen of her phone and called her brother.

After two rings the call connected.

"Ayaan" she called.

"Yes, how are you coping there?"

"It's been good. I was just done going around. I can't believe the dorm is so luxurious!"

"Yeah, they are rich people anyway. How is your dorm mate?"

"She's ok, I guess."

"How so? You don't sound like you two are getting along well."

"Uhm, how do I put it…she is a bit different than our friends at home. We only talked once, when I introduced myself and she hummed, said her name and went to sleep."

"Oh, I guess she's the cold type. Such people don't concern themselves with others' lives. Just do your things and try not to disturb her."

"Yeah, that reminds me. It seems she really hates noise. When I saw my things, I screamed in excitement, but she didn't find it funny. She straightforwardly threatened to get me out of the room if I uttered another word," she pouted.

"Hahaha. Your roommate is really straightforward. I think she is the best partner for you. She will help you become a little quieter, I like that." He rejoiced at his sister's misfortune.

"You are so mean, I hope your roommate is a jerk!"

"You don't have to hope, he's worse than a d*ckhead. A complete bully. I haven't had time to rest and look around since I got here. I only had the time to talk because he just left for the cafeteria."
