Laura is an amazing and determined young lady, there's a lot that could be done about fixing her parents marital crisis and asides from her talking to just her aunt she could suggest her parents see a guidance counsellor for therapist I think that could help the character achieve the peace she wants in her family. Nice one tho,it's more realistic and I like that it portrays everyday life.
So far so good. Honestly haven't read much because it's not my cup of tea but from what I've read it's heading the right direction. However, I'd suggest removing chapters 1 and 2. These are... a bit unnecessary in my opinion. Your synopsis can be found on the book's main page and the part about inkstone.... well readers don't really care about it.
I will wait and see how Laura's life goes on from here. The family dynamic helps define the character well and I feel that aspect of the story is well written. I like the overall storyline of the novel. The only complain I had was about the confusion of chapter numbers, like chapter 3 is the first chapter but seeing that I can understand one thing, this is the first novel by the author here so I don't really mind it. Other than that I feel story is very good and has potential.
