HER LAST CHANCE

She was at the ladies room trying to put some make up on before they step out of the office building to have their lunch out. She can't help but take a good look at her reflection in the mirror.

She just turned 34.

But she doesn't look like her real age.

Her looks can still pass as someone who was only at her mid 20s and she was grateful for her mom's beautiful and youthful genes. She took it as an advantage because she doesn't felt awkward everytime she was surrounded by younger generation because she looks like just one of them.

Millenial.

But she was not.

She was born before the millenial era.

At the age of 34, without having a boyfriend since birth, old maid was the best word to describe her. Though it doesn't feel good but reality hits her.

For someone who was celebrating her birthday could take a birthday leave but not Kelly. She went to work because she doesn't have someone to celebrate her birthday with in the apartment. Her family is in Batangas and she doesn't have many friends in Manila as well. She only had Mira, her bestfriend since childhood who also lives in the city but she wasn't available because she was always busy taking care of her husband and two kids.

She doesn't have a boyfriend too.

She just realized at the age of 34 how sad her life is.

She suddenly felt empty.

She thought she was happy.

She has a big family to visit to in the province every weekend.

She has a bestfriend who stick with her through thick and thin.

She has a successful career that she can be proud of. Wait?! A successful career?! Is being a senior analyst at the age of 34 can be considered successful? If she will calculate her career progress as she dreamt of it when she was 23, she should have been a company director at her age now. But what happened? Everything that she have dreamt about did not materialize.

At the age of 15, she dreamt of having a boyfriend when she turns the age of 22. She reached the age of 22 but haven't gotten a boyfriend. They were a lot of guys who pursued her but her priority was her studies back then. When she graduated from the university, there were few guys who pursued her but none of them passed her high standard so she remain single. At 25, she dreamt of getting married when she reached the age of 30 eventhough she doesn't a boyfriend at that time, yet.

Now that she's 34.

No boyfriend.

No career.

And she's not happy.

If she doesn't have a successful career, she could at least have a boyfriend right?

But how can she find a boyfriend in the workplace? All of her male colleagues, if not married, were gays.

So does she still have a chance?

She suddenly thought of the new CEO. His gorgeous face suddenly squat in her imagination.

She could be her last chance.

She can't help but felt giddy when she remember the lunch date that she owes him.

.....

"Don't tell me, you took it seriously when he said that you owe him a lunch date?" Lindy asked her in disbelief. Two days has passed since her birthday and there were no sign that the CEO will take her for a lunch date.

"He is a CEO, and he could not take back his words right?" She said as she pouted her lips.

"And you are a senior analyst at his company, do you really think you'll get a chance? Dream on, girl!" Lindy once mocked her.

She made a deep sigh.

"And how old is he? I think he is just at his late 20s. You're way older than him. How could he choose a 34-year old maid over a younger and successful woman?" Lindy continously put her down.

"Are you really a friend of mine? Why is it that instead of encouraging me that he might be "The One" you keep on putting my spirit down?" She annoyingly asked Lindy.

"I'm not putting you down okay? I'm your friend so I don't want to give you a false hope that CEO will take your lunch date seriously?"

"What if we go out and have a date? Will you bet half of your monthly salary?

"Huh! I can bet even my entire monthly salary because I'm pretty sure that you will never go out on a lunch date with him" Lindy said it mockingly.

"Bet?" She asked.

"What if you lose?"

"You can take my entire monthly salary too." She said smugly.

Lindy laughed out loud. "Huh! I didn't know where you got your fighting spirit girl. Keep it up because that's the only thing that you have. You only have one day left this week. Make sure to call out all the God and Goddesses to help you score a lunch date with him or else goodbye to your monthly salary"

"Laugh now but cry later. Because I'm gonna date him!" She said in a high fighting spirit as if she was confident enough that she will win over their bet.

'Oh please help me God' she murmured to herself.

She must think of a way on how to lure the CEO to have a lunch date with him.

At all cost.
