El Dust part.3

While grasping hands with Moriarty, El Dust left the onlookers in bewilderment.

With a reluctance to tarnish existing ties, the persona that prioritized bonds decided not to succumb to the predestined fate.

Stepping beyond the meticulously arranged sequence of events, El Dust ventured to find another place and soul suitable to serve as the justification for their existence in that world.

"Kukuku, those three sisters' faces were truly adorable back then! Huhuhu, ahh, I can't suppress my laughter when reminiscing about it again."「El Dust」

[Dust, do you enjoy bewildering others?] (Moriarty)

"If it's those close to me, yes. I truly relish stirring emotions in those who know me. Confusing them, causing them pain, and even betraying them... there's nothing quite like playing with the feelings of those who are dear to you," El Dust admitted in muse

[...] Moriarty remained silent, processing El Dust's revelatory words.

If he enjoyed confusing those close to him, then what was she to him? The timeless girl thought popped up as they walked, casting a shadow of uncertainty over their relationship.

Moving away from the public residence area and navigating through a few shortcuts with the girl beside him, El Dust and Moriarty found themselves at the outskirts of the city.

From where he stood since he thought there's no need to swing anymore, he could see the vastness of the sea and the multitude of people frolicking on the beach. Yet, as he turned his gaze forward, a sprawling forest awaited, uniquely emitting an atmosphere with a hint of strangeness within.

Looking both ways, he just realized that he's in a town nestled between a forest and a sea. However, when he focused his gaze further beyond, he also noticed a small structure that reminded him of a stake in the far distance.

The sight of that construct slightly disturbed him as he swung alongside Kiana and Moriarty because wherever he looked, the towering monument seemed to loom in every direction his gaze turned.

Nevertheless, El Dust wasn't particularly intrigued.

"After walking quite a distance, I never expected to find a place like this. Glad we decide to use our feet once in a while. Then, what can you share about place ahead, miss Guardian?" El Dust inquired while still musing at the sight of dark forest.

[Up ahead is the Forest of Shinano, a forest that holds a hidden dwelling named Yae-gu or Yae Village. In there, Kiana and her friends will also experience their growth, but not now. It'll be far in the future.] Moriarty shared, however there's a heavy unease lingered in her words.

Her heart slightly wavered, even though she had decided to always believed in him.

Nevertheless she didn't want to show anything strange at the moment. This pleasant time sounds good enough for Moriarty, thereby she put away her emotion and bottle it up inside for now.

"Hmm, then just like how we used to if I'm using a scenario's setting, what chapter lies ahead? You could also use a number to make it easier to understand." El Dust sought clarification, while being oblivious to her.

[It'll be after their prologue, another tale in their beginning. When Kiana and her friends face their first and second hurdle. If it's in numbers... maybe chapter 4 or 5.] Moriarty explained.

"Ohh? What comes before 4 then?"「El Dust」

[That was what you were supposed to do—go to school with her, train with her, and then strengthen your bond as more than a sibling but also as a family. Since you're not with her anymore, I think there's bound to be something going to change.] Moriarty expressed with a touch of concern.

"Huhuhu, it should be fine, miss guardian. The world created from our wish is not supposed to be dependent on us after all," El Dust reassured with a confident yet wistful tone.

Once again, they discussed something that could only be done when someone knows the future. Going beyond what should have been experienced at the beginning, and then starting something that shouldn't have happened yet.

It seems that El Dust is indeed a persona who enjoys introducing many oddities into the preordained destiny.

"By the way, is Kiana the only character moving the world? What about some of her friends?"「El Dust」

[No, there're many other Initiator in different regions. I think there's also another one within Kiana's future friend group. Most of them will support her growth and be together with her. However, I myself don't fully understand. In this world, "Zeimachi" is one of the figures supporting Protagonist Kiana, but why is he only a supporter and not on equal footing with Kiana?] Moriarty asked, seeking El Dust's insight into her concerns.

As the guardian had mentioned, the presence of "Zeimachi" within that world was nothing more than a mere supporter. For reasons unknown to Moriarty, she couldn't comprehend why he and his persona hoped for such a role.

"Perfect, one person shouldn't bear the weight alone after all." El Dust closed his eyes, seeming to contemplate for a while, as the weight of the conversation hung in the air.

Venturing through the forest adorned with numerous trees and grass, the two of them often caught sight of various insects and small creatures.

Occasionally, slightly threatening wild animals would emerge, but a mere gaze from Moriarty's eyes would send them fleeing, driven by the instinctual fear that surfaced within them.

"Huhu, smart beast. I think I could answer that dilemma of yours, Moriarty. It might be hard for you to grasp, but in my opinion, it's because the brother hopes that this world doesn't need him."「El Dust」

[What do you mean?] (Moriarty)

"Kukuku, in the sense of being the world's Initiator of course. Brother and his persona including me, indeed created this world, but brother surely doesn't want his existence to be the center of everything, Us as well, we don't really need acknowledgment from others," El Dust chuckled as he become reminded of the giant structure in the far distance.

[... So, was that why he hoped for himself to be unimportant since childhood?] Meanwhile, Moriarty delved further into the history that had been created within that world. There, she saw the younger form of "Zeimachi."

With a mental library of knowledge, Moriarty could access anything, as that was the authority granted to her.

"From what I know, 'Zeimachi' indeed already existed in this world. He has his own origins, and that's one of the facts that we, the personas, hope for. However, his existence created by The Will of the World is nothing more than a body moving on autopilot, having the nature and character of the young Zeimachi." To make his explanation clearer, El Dust plucked a leaf and tossed it into the air.

The leaf floated slowly before falling back into the palm of his hand.

Although the forest was not an ordinary one, the two of them could easily navigate through the ominous area.

El Dust, in his carefree manner, considered it a leisurely and enjoyable stroll. However, Moriarty, on the other hand, became somewhat uneasy as she sought information about what El Dust had just revealed.

[I just saw the recordings of "Zeimachi" from the past through my authority. I must admit, even though it's on autopilot, he seems like the Machi I know. The same goes for you, Dust.] Moriarty shared.

"Whether as a child or an adult, Brother hasn't changed much. He doesn't consider himself important. Huhuhu, what do you think is similar between Brother and me?" El Dust replied, his amusement evident in his chuckle.

[The way you both laugh. Sometimes, when Machi encounters something unusual, he looks like he's about to commit a crime.] (Moriarty)

"Kukuku, I see I see! He's always my brother after all even if from different worlds. Oops, this reminded me, what was the name of that place where Kiana grow up, lady Moriarty?"「El Dust」

A sense of joy filled the persona.

As their conversation continued, without them realizing, they had reached the edge of the forest. Bright light shone from above, with no trees obstructing the ground covered in grass.

[The city of Soukai, that name also taken from his memories.] (Moriarty)

"Well, I guess it's to be expected."「El Dust」

With a subtle narrowing of his eyes, El Dust moved towards the light stepping out from the depths of the forest.

The crisp and fresh air carrying the delightful aroma of the countryside welcomed him, accompanied by the picturesque views unfolding from a village concealed within the woods.

A hidden place, named Yae Village.

Realizing that he had been taking in the surroundings and observing the various views, Moriarty attempted to express something. However El Dust swiftly shushed her, seizing the moment to articulate her thoughts.

"Ah, don't tell me about the origin of this village and the name of important people who live in here yet alright?"「El Dust」

[... Alright.] (Moriarty)

Still holding hands, they traversed several slopes to cut through a path, approaching the cluster of houses they had spotted.

Resembling a countryside, most of the houses were constructed from wood and natural stone. Though the population was not abundant, El Dust considered it normal for a hidden village.

However, before El Dust leaped to declare his presence to the villagers, the girl holding his hand had something to say.

[Wait, Dust. There's something I need to hand over to you before we go, ... it's this Feather.] (Moriarty)

From her previously empty palm, a single feather slowly and gently emerged, radiating a shimmer akin to the undying flame of the immortal bird. The Feather captured El Dust's attention, as it wasn't something Moriarty should have possessed in the first place.

"This... isn't this brother's? Did he gave this to you in your previous encounter maybe?"「El Dust」

[No he wasn't, it was there with me when I opened my eyes. This construct that... make me very reminded of him. Its really his, isn't it?] (Moriarty)

"Indeed this Feather is his. It's a tool known as Divine Key of Consciousness, Fenghuang Down. One of many that could control and manipulate sentient being's consciousness. Through this as well he connect this world into his memories."「El Dust」

[So its some kind of device he used to remodel this world I see? That's explaining why I could feel Machi from here. He's... Machi is still fine right?] (Moriarty)

Although she tried to conceal her concern, El Dust could discern something intriguing from her recent response. This made him tempted to tease her but at the same time, he felt a bit uneasy about playing the role of a mediator, as a mediator among them = a figure that connects bonds.

"Kukuku, my brother is always fine on the outside. Now then let's go to that place, that area beneath the huge Sakura tree tickled my curiosity more than a little."「El Dust」

Thanks to Moriarty, El Dust's attention was now drawn to an enormous tree. A tree that towered high, adorned with branches bearing pinkish leaves.

Previously, he couldn't catch a glimpse of this beautiful sight due to villagers obstructing the view. But now, with the Yae villagers stepping aside, El Dust felt a strong urge to go there.

[That's... what a coincidence, it's also a place where an important person will awaits to be met. The one who will later become Sirin's friend after they begin their activities in school, the cursed child of Yae village.] (Moriarty)

"A future friend of my sister? Huhuhu, interesting. And if I go there, will I trigger a chapter that shouldn't have happened yet? Going straight from 1 to 4, just like that? Will it have consequences for the future?"「El Dust」

The persona seemed visibly impatient, unable to contain a continuous smile. This aspect also what gave her a glimpse of the Zeimachi she used to know.

[Yes, even the future continues to change with each step you're taking right now. That's just the usual, isn't it? So, let's go?] (Moriarty)

"Kukuku, it's obvious, right? Let's march forward!"「El Dust」

With that, they began traversing the outskirts of the countryside, making their way towards a village where a large Sakura tree grew in the midst of the ancient settlement.

While El Dust appeared enthusiastic about disrupting the fates of a world, in reality, he was also impatient to meet the person referred to as his sister's future friend.

What the encounter would be like remained uncertain.

...

....

.....

"Welcome! Please take off your shoes... before entering- eh? You two didn't wear any? Wait here while I make some tea! The view of the Sakura tree from here is pretty amazing! Now then."「Yae Rin」

Before long, El Dust and Moriarty encountered someone named Yae Rin upon reaching their destination. Surprisingly, both of them found themselves inside the residence of the girl from the Yae village.

Even more surprisingly, they're now seated, enjoying the sight of falling Sakura leaves, with a cup of green tea in their hands, graciously provided by one of the Yae family's dwellings.

"How long was your last meal, lady Moriarty?"「El Dust」

[Many years ago... I think.] (Moriarty)

"To be precise, how many years?"「El Dust」

[I'm not really sure, maybe million years?] (Moriarty)

Hearing this, El Dust took a moment to sip his tea, maintaining a calm demeanor.

'More than a fossil I see.'「El Dust」

[... Hey, what do you mean?] (Moriarty)

The village they now visited bore the name Yae Village, a concealed haven within the Forest of Shinano, situated a bit distant from Soukai City. As per Moriarty's earlier revelation, a future companion of Sirin's awaits her encounter around the vicinity of the towering Sakura tree.

"It's her isn't it?"「El Dust」

[Yes.] (Moriarty)

The place they currently occupied could be described as a temple frequently visited by many residents of Yae Village to convey their prayers.

Situated near the sacred towering Sakura tree, it was a fitting location to appreciate the beautiful and grand spectacle of the pink-leaved tree. Fortunately, Yae Rin allowed them to rest there as well.

"Talking about old being, are there someone similar like you in this world? Someone who hold the title of Guardian and could hear The Will of World?"「El Dust」

[Guardian is me alone, but there are many creatures and individuals who can hear this world's voice. As a matter of fact, Sirin and even that man with glasses, Welt Yang, can sometimes hear it as well.] (Moriarty)

"Huhu, the more you know." El Dust chuckled in muse.

Regarding the Yae family's residence, it could be considered to be positioned just behind the location where Moriarty and El Dust were seated, slightly obscured behind the temple.

In solitude, the area often served as a playground for the Yae family's children. By chance, at that very moment, the duo stumbled upon a young girl diligently tending to the temple.

Her name was Yae Rin.

Due to their unfamiliar attire, the girl, Yae Rin, immediately assumed they were outsiders. She was so startled that she dropped the broom she was using to clean around the temple.

However, she quickly regained her composure and promptly ushered the two foreign guests inside the temple. There, they encountered a creature that bore some resemblance to a human but was not quite one.

With that explanation concluded, let's return to Moriarty, who for some reason, had changed her outfit.

[...] (Moriarty)

"What's with the outfit?"「El Dust」

[... This scene kind of reminds me of that time, that time when I got to meet Machi for the first time. Passing through woods just because of Student Council's order, the once empty me watched him for the first time in this uniform. So... this uniform came to mind.] (Moriarty)

"First encounter huh? Kukuku, here I thought you got a little upset due to how I mentioned your age. Good thing that's not the case."「El Dust」

Now, Moriarty has changed into a school outfit.

The uniform consisted of a black shirt and a magenta mini skirt, along with long white stockings that covered her bare feet until her shoes. The attire brought a smile to her face as she reminisced about how long it had been since she last wore the uniform.

[Don't get it wrong, I still haven't accepted it.] (Moriarty)

Moreover, the timeless girl also wanted to shed the recently bestowed fossil stigma by El Dust. Therefore, Moriarty decided to don the clothing of teenage girls, symbolizing their youthful days.

"Huhuhu, whatever meaning you're trying to convey, my lady. I apologize if my words hurt your conscience."「El Dust」

They spent their time chatting while gazing at the fluttering and falling cherry blossom petals. With a cup of tea in their hands, the atmosphere around them appeared remarkably serene.

Then...

As they were savoring the moment, suddenly a voice was heard from behind them. From inside the temple, to be more precise.

A voice emanating from the young girl they had previously encountered by the giant Sakura tree, accompanied by a small fox-humanoid floating beside her.

"Sorry for the wait! There's still plenty of tea if you want it, and here, fried tofu as well. It's on me, so don't hold back!"「Yae Rin」

"Uuuuu... even though it's made for me."「Higokumaru」

"Don't worry, Higokumaru! I'll ask Onee-chan to make you more later!" exclaimed Yae Rin, a girl with long sakura-colored hair, who happened to be the daughter of the temple's caretaker.

Despite her yukata covering her body, El Dust could still discern her slender figure with his keen eyes.

"Really?!" Meanwhile, the small floating fox-humanoid beside her was Higokumaru, a spiritual being, or some would say the protector and friend of Yae Rin.

But when El Dust inquired with Moriarty, it seemed that Higokumaru's true identity was more than just an ordinary small fox-like creature.

"Double-really!" Yae Rin had bright blue eyes and a cheerful demeanor, and she seemed eager to move around.

"Waaahhh! I love you, Rin!" As for Higokumaru, she had a fondness for anything themed around tofu.

"You don't need to go through the trouble. We're just suspicious outsiders, right? What if we devour all these dishes and make a run for it?" El Dust teased while didn't forget his usual musing.

"See what I told you, Rin?! They're definitely bad guys! Evil incarnate! How could they even think to eat my tofu as well!?"「Higokumaru」

"Well, let's calm down, Higokumaru. I don't think they're someone you could even call evil incarnate, although they're indeed suspicious."「Yae Rin」

El Dust felt flattered by the skeptical gaze of the little girl placing a tray beside him. Having a girl suspicious of him was the greatest honor, or so he believed.

"L-Look that way! These are mine!" Higokumaru interjected.

And as El Dust observed Higokumaru attempting to block his view of a plate of tofu, a mischievous side of El Dust seemed to awaken.

"You wouldn't do that, right? I know this smells good and nice, but you can't eat others' share! Now that's what I call a bad person," Yae Rin scolded, albeit slightly intimidated by the man she met for the first time.

However, when she saw something not right happening, Yae Rin felt the need to put a stop to it.

"Kukuku, I can see how caring you are. How about you, Lady Moriarty? Will you choose the path of evil and eat all of this tofu, or maybe stay on the way of justice and eat your own share of tofu?"「El Dust」

[... I don't understand, why make this such a big deal.] Moriarty tilted her head.

Moriarty's perspective was valid. It was just a dish made from soybeans, commonly found in many places. Moreover, if she wanted, Moriarty could create a tofu forest in that area.

Therefore, the situation before her truly left her a bit perplexed.

"Huhu, I guess so milady. We mustn't become so heated just for a piece of bread."「El Dust」

"This is tofu!"「Higokumaru」

"We're humans, and humans are absolute predators. We could eat anything and even anyone."「El Dust」

"Huh? What do you mean... W,wait the tofu is here you know?"「Higokumaru」

Even when he knew that Yae Rin and Moriarty were right, El Dust continued to play with his misleading words. Upon realizing that El Dust's gaze was no longer directed at the plate of tofu at the end of his words, Higokumaru started to think that something bad might happen to herself.

"We have brains to think hard, wear our favorite clothes, and even legs to choose our own path. Because we're undoubtedly human beings. It makes me wonder, what does fried fox taste like, huh? Kukuku." El Dust chuckled with a malicious showed from his smile.

"H, hhaaaa! Help me, Rin!" the small humanoid-fox run away to her protector.

"Alright, stop teasing Higokumaru! She's scared you're now going to gobble her up, here! You can take my share if you really want more! And... does milady want some as well?"「Yae Rin」

[... I'll take it.] (Moriarty)

After the playful banter, they finally enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere peacefully. Though a small floating fox still harbored some disbelief, they all took a deep breath to calm the previously heated atmosphere.

"Many thanks, Miko. Before we are considered time-wasting, first, allow me to introduce our names."「El Dust」

"Great, I'll do the same as well! Then which one will be the first?"「Yae Rin」

"Them, of course. Jeez... you really need to learn how to be careful, Rin. Didn't he just say it now?"「Higokumaru」

"Ah, ehehe, sorry, I seem to be too excited."「Yae Rin」

...

....

.....

In the end, they resumed their conversation casually.

Starting with introductions that were previously interrupted, how they managed to enter the village, and the reasons behind Moriarty changing into a school uniform.

"You passed through that forest? By walking? Somehow I can't believe it. There's a mystical barrier that protects this village all the way until that forest, so how could you..." Higokumaru questioned as she floats around El Dust.

"Kukuku, "cutting" things is my specialty, you see? But well, with Moriarty around, that barrier you spoke of might become something futile." as he create a symbol of scissors with his finger, he replied joyously.

"Look, Higokumaru! It's a real city school uniform! The one Sakura Onee-chan showed us in the magazine!" while those two talk with each other, Yae Rin appeared to be glued with Moriarty.

"Rin, if you're too excited, you'll be considered uncouth."「Higokumaru」

El Dust also later obtained additional information about Yae Rin from the fox spirit, which revealed that Yae Rin is the second child of the Yae family.

Initially, he thought the little girl was the shrine maiden guarding the temple, but it turned out she has an older sister who is the actual shrine maiden.

"The girl rarely sees anything coming from outside the village, so please forgive her if she seems a bit clingy like mochi." Higokumaru reasoned, as she glance at Moriarty who nodded at her.

"There must be an interesting reason for it then?"「El Dust」

"Well, there is, but I won't tell you outsiders! Hmph, especially to someone who wants to eat my tofu!"「Higokumaru」

Their gazes returned to Yae Rin, who was still in awe of Moriarty's uniform.

As El Dust started to contemplate something about Yae Rin, he began to suspect if the girl was indeed the one referred to as the cursed child of Yae Village, or in other words, the important figure Moriarty mentioned earlier.

'Am I right?'「El Dust」

Moriarty nodded as if answering his question. Although she was engaged in observing the two cherry blossom-haired creatures, she continued to keep an eye on El Dust and his thoughts.

Then as she keep noticing how Moriarty's gaze shifted toward the man, Yae Rin also became curious.

"Machi onii-san, Moriarty's nee outfit is very cute, isn't it?" Yae Rin said, and a sense of happiness could be felt within the tone she expressed. For now, El Dust also decided to adopt that name as his alias. Machi, the nickname he held in this world.

"Indeed, if my brother were here, he'd say you're absolutely cute, but... why with the question?"「El Dust」

"Since earlier, Moriarty keeps looking in your direction. I thought she actually wanted to get praise from you or something like that. Right, Moriarty nee-san?" with pushing Moriarty forward, Yae Rin expressed her feeling.

[...] However, although what Yae Rin just said has some truth to it, Moriarty cannot agree.

It's true that the timeless girl wants to receive praise from someone she likes, but when considering who El Dust is and what the persona really are, Moriarty becomes conflicted once again. In silence, without saying anything, Moriarty then bows her head.

"(Whisper) Ehhh... did I maybe probe too much? I didn't know their relationship seems difficult. Is that how couples are?"「Yae Rin」

The girl soon know something was wrong, calling Higokumaru to her side she further asked the same.

"(Whisper) Rin, we don't know everything about the two of them. Maybe they are having a disagreement and came here to reconcile. That's how relationships among humans are sometimes. That's what I know."「Higokumaru」

"(Whisper) Where do you know about that, Higokumaru?"「Yae Rin」

"(Whisper) Sakura-aneki told me about that!"「Higokumaru」

———————————————————

St. Freya Academy, renowned for both academic brilliance and specialized training, was a beacon for youth seeking knowledge and professional development.

Its sprawling campus offered state-of-the-art facilities tailored to cater to a diverse range of pursuits, whether in the realms of scholarly exploration or honing skills for battle.

In the vibrant city of Soukai, where towering buildings touched the sky and the hustle and bustle of urban life echoed through the streets, the St. Freya International Academy stood as a symbol of excellence and tradition.

Its roots, embedded centuries ago, had grown into a prestigious network of educational institutions across the globe, with one of its esteemed branches nestled in the heart of Soukai City.

"Thus concludes the series of opening ceremonies at the academy today. To the new students, I bid you my farewell for today opening ceremony."

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the ceremony for the admission of new students at the Soukai branch came to a close.

The principal, a petite girl with striking white hair gracefully stepped down from the podium, capturing the attention of the eager crowd after her long period of speech.

"Feel free to use your free time wisely alright?"

With those words, a collective sigh of relief swept through the assembly, and the new students, clad in the distinctive St. Freya uniforms, erupted into cheers and laughter.

The students stretched their bodies, joked with their friends, and some were surprised to find out that the little girl on the podium was their headmistress. Whatever they wanted to do, the atmosphere was lively and carefree.

Amidst the sea of students, there're Kiana and Sirin in their St. Freya uniforms as well. They pretty much stood out like mysterious figures in the vibrant tapestry of the academy.

However there's something, their expressions betrayed a sense of discontent and despite the festivities, the duo seemed determined to depart the lively scene.

"Both of you, the principal has summoned us."「Bianca」

Fortunately, it wasn't long before Bianca arrived, intervening and thwarting their apparent plans.

Reluctantly, Kiana and Sirin followed Bianca through the bustling throng, weaving their way towards the main building where the headmistress's room awaited.

The animated atmosphere of the courtyard gradually faded as they stepped into the hallowed halls, the weight of their purpose settling upon them.

"Che, we got something more important to do out there. Why do we even need to talk with her?" Kiana voiced her discontent.

"I understand what you think, Kiana, but acting without a clear goal will only complicate things for more people. Perhaps the principal, has something that can help us."「Bianca」

"Does she already know about onii's disappearance?" inquired Sirin.

"It seems so. Maybe that's why she invited us for a private conversation. Follow me, you might get lost later. As your senior, it'll be my duty to guide you freshmen."「Bianca」

"I'm not a kid, geez."「Kiana」

Walking the path Bianca had taken, the three sisters couldn't help but be captivated by various sights around St. Freya Academy. Despite their lingering concern over El Dust's recent actions, the beauty and uniqueness of the surroundings brought a glimmer of brightness to their small round around trip.

"Is it just me or... are we taking a detour? Principal's office should be over there?" Sirin asked, observing the surroundings.

"Yeah, the principal told me earlier that this is a day not to be passed with a heavy heart, it'll be fine if we take some glance around here," replied Bianca, looking around with a meaningful expression.

"Bianca... you seem fine, though." looking at how usual her sister acted, Kiana can't help but thought so.

As they passed things such as a large pond teeming with fish, walls seemingly suitable for jumping, groups of students actively engaged in their clubs, or just a passing mascot, everything caught their attention despite their lingering worries.

"Don't get me wrong, Kiana. I'm confused and worried just like you two. But you know how brother is, right? He'll come back for sure, but maybe not so soon."「Bianca」

Their focus started to shift from tension to the beauty around them, helping to alleviate the weight on their shoulders.

Even though the calmness came from the external environment, they were aware of the importance of controlling their emotions and ensuring that the peace they found didn't slip away. Just like one of the thing she reminded back then.

"Kiana, do you remember when you used to work part-time as a model? If I recall correctly, both brother and Dad were really worried at that time, thinking something might happen to you."「Bianca」

"Eh!? What are you talking about!"「Kiana」

"...Well, they're concerned that you might be deceived and taken advantage of. You are quite easy to be misled, although in the end, those two relieved when you came home safely."「Sirin」

"Uwaah... so that's why they acted so strange when I came back that time. I was just working at the store for not even three hours."「Kiana」

"That's true ahaha, in the end, they were more worried than you were, despite you being the one working."「Bianca」

For a moment, Bianca halted her steps. As she gazed towards the main building of St. Freya, now standing before them, the eldest of the three sisters marveled at the grandeur of the educational institution when seen up close.

"This reminds me of a museum," Sirin commented, taking in the architectural splendor.

"Really? I see it more like a castle from the fairy tales," Kiana added with a dreamy expression.

"If I recall correctly, the principal's office is on the third floor. Let's go in, after all this is our school now," Bianca suggested, eager to explore the halls of St. Freya Academy with her sisters.

Following the directions leading them into the main building, they entered and ascended a flight of stairs. Inside, they found themselves once again filled with awe, especially Sirin, who was captivated by the various ornaments adorning the walls of St. Freya Academy.

The intricate details and decorations that adorned the hallways added to the sense of wonder and reverence for the academy.

"Now that I think about it, hey Kiana, do you still have the hairpin given by onii?" Sirin asked.

"Well, I don't use it often. I prefer my hair tied like this. And I also have a headband, so I only wear it occasionally," Kiana explained while twirling her hair some ways.

"I saw it this morning in your room. But even if you don't wear it, why is it on the table then? And it looks neatly placed too hmm?"「Sirin 」

"T-That! What's the big deal? I can put it wherever I want, it's mine after all!" Kiana responded defensively, a hint of embarrassment coloring her cheeks.

They now seemed to be in slightly better spirits, and as they continued chatting and debating in the main building hallway, they finally arrived in front of a large door towering over them, with a nameplate reading "Principal" affixed to it.

"Alright, mind your manners."「Bianca」

With respectful knocks and greetings, they each entered the room one by one only after they received the response from the person inside.

"Step inside, just make sure don't do anything weird." Theresa, the principal welcomed them warmly.

As they entered, surprisingly, the principal's room didn't look grand or sparkling as they had imagined. The room was nothing more than a working space that could accommodate a few guests, with an atmosphere befitting an adult's place.

The principal's room was genuinely ordinary, if not for a little girl seated on the principal's desk then perhaps the room would seem even more "normal."

"Principal Theresa-sama, we have come as per your summons. Is there anything we can assist with?"「Bianca」

"Why suddenly so polite? It's just Aunty Theresa, isn't it?"「Kiana」

"And also the principal."「Sirin」

The little girl in question was Theresa, the formidable headmistress of St. Freya Academy, presently undertaking responsibilities at the Soukai branch before her imminent return to the main academy.

She was the petite figure who had earlier commanded the podium. As per Kiana's recent testimony, Theresa held a significant role in their lives—a figure akin to a nurturing aunt.

"Hey, let's get this straight—I am the headmistress of this place and hold the title of principal as well! Call me 'Principal' or at the very least, 'Theresa-sama,' without the 'aunty' part! Call me that again, and I'll make sure you learn your lesson, KIANA."「Theresa」

Sensing the looming threat, the girl sought refuge behind her sisters.

"Cecilia had told me some of what happened. Setting aside the reasons why I called you here for now, first and foremost, how are you all doing?"「Theresa」

"Thanks to your guidance and goodwill, we're always in good health. It's pretty rare to see you in this branch."「Bianca」

"I'm always fine, except for today. How about you, aunty?"「Sirin」

"I-I've told you not to call me that. Anyway, I can say I'm still the same, caught up in my duties as an ADULT and constantly on the move following mission orders."「Theresa」

After allowing the three of them to take their seats, Theresa approached her nieces and settled into a chair facing them. Without forgetting, she retrieved a bottle of drinks from her office fridge and some glasses for the girls.

"Now, what about the other one? Where did he go?" 「Theresa」

And now, they delved into the reason why Theresa summoned the three sisters, discussing the events of the morning before they headed to school.

"That... we don't understand either. Suddenly, he felt like someone else and then just fled from home with some unfamiliar power."「Bianca」

"... Along with a woman."「Sirin」

"True, with a girl named Moriarty, whom the three of us saw for the first time."「Bianca」

"Yup."「Kiana」

In a casual tone, Bianca and Sirin, with intermittent input from Kiana, shared crucial information they had gathered.

Hearing this information proved advantageous for Theresa, because upon hearing the name mentioned by the two sisters, she immediately connected it to the mission she was currently undertaking.

"(Whisper) Moriarty... hmm, so that's it. No wonder Grandpa asked me to investigate, even though he usually tells me to stay away from that guy."「Theresa」

Muttering to herself, Theresa became aware that three pairs of eyes were now watching her. The three sisters looked worried, and Theresa understood their concern. As a caring aunt, she decided to reassure her nieces.

"Don't worry, I'll help you. It seems the mission I received might be related to all of this."「Theresa」

"Is it okay for us to be informed about this?"「Bianca」

"Aunt Theresa, what kind of mission did you receive? Is it about extermination or maybe a crime?"「Kiana」

"Sigh... calm down. This time, it's just an investigation, even if it came out of the blue. But this is the third time you've called me 'aunt,' say it again, and I'll smack all of you."「Bianca」

The three sisters narrowly avoided a potential scolding from the principal. To prevent any impending violence, the sisters tried to take Theresa's warning to heart.

Returning to the discussion at hand, Theresa continued. But before that, Theresa instructed Kiana to perform a few tasks she had prepared.

"Kiana, could you please grab the remote over there? Then press the buttons labeled DS and Smart Board on it," pointing towards a remote near Kiana, the instructions were straightforward and something that anyone could easily do.

"Is it this one? And then this one?" However, being Kiana, she managed to make a mistake.

Executing the commands, Kiana pressed several buttons on the remote that resembled a touchscreen tablet. Following her lead, the principal's office instantly plunged into darkness, despite it still being early in the morning.

"Don't blame Kiana first. Look behind you, or perhaps it's better if you just sit beside me," Theresa said, matching her words with actions. She gracefully descended from her principal's chair and took a seat in one of the guest chairs.

"Excuse us then~ ... Theresa-chan, how could you be almost the same height as me?" Sirin teased.

"Don't dwell on that! Now sit!"「Theresa」

"Ehh, as if we're pets. And didn't Sirin just use '-chan' in your name? Doesn't that count as well?"「Kiana」

"Kiana, you'd be happy if someone called you young and beautiful, right? The principal is the same."「Bianca」

"... I really can't understand how older women think—hiiii!!!" receiving a death glare from the tiny principal, Kiana took her seat away from her.

Following that, a smart whiteboard also appeared, descending from the ceiling like a piece of cutting-edge technology. It illuminated and underwent calibration several times, akin to a computer screen before eventually displaying a map that they could easily recognize.

The map of Soukai City.

"Whoaa... it floats," Kiana exclaimed.

"That's what amazes you!? Ah, never mind. Which direction did you last see him disappear?"「Theresa」

Setting aside Kiana's awe for a not-so-crucial feature, Bianca and Sirin meticulously recalled their positions to be pointed out on the map.

"Our houses are around here, right?"「Sirin」

"Yes, that's correct. So, Kiana, can you show where you all gone to?"「Bianca」

The process was quite simple. They just needed to touch the screen or use the pointer on the remote, and it would conveniently display markers on the points they just marked or lines indicating their movement patterns.

"Did you two... really go that far just by swinging through the air?"「Theresa」

"Yeah, I remember exactly where I almost managed to drop him. First to the south near the neighbor's house with the bonsai garden, and then west near the city park's fountain. After I hitched a ride on Aniki's back, he took me on a little tour before we eventually turned back."「Kiana」

Like a tangled thread, a complex web of movement patterns emerged from Kiana's memory. The other three fell silent as they observed the lines she just drew. Among them, some felt envious of Kiana and the stories she had, while others felt relieved that nothing serious had happened.

"Fheww, thank goodness. I thought you were getting close to one of the Monoliths. I saw you guys zooming all over the place, and I started panicking on my own, huuuft..." Theresa expressed her relief and relaxed her hands from clenching Bianca's thigh.

"The Monolith, is it that tall black structure in the distance? See the lines I drew? We didn't go there. Even though Aniki seemed a bit curious, it's impossible for him to go there, right?" Kiana clarified.

"... Even though he can be rash and reckless sometimes, that place is off-limits for us civilians. I'm sure my brother remembers that."「Bianca」

"The people who manage those monuments are from a secretive organization. So, back to the main point, where did Onii go after he left us?"「Sirin」

Returning their attention to the same map, the four of them continued their discussion. They pointed to different places, indicating positions based on their understanding of "Zeimachi" in that world.

Unfortunately, this information didn't seem particularly useful at the moment.

"Hmm? Wait a moment, I'm getting a call," Theresa interrupted.

At that moment, Theresa's smartphone suddenly rang. Stepping back a bit from the three girls, she answered the incoming call.

"[Theresa, good morning. I congratulate you on your duties as the headmistress of St. Freya branch there. How was the opening of your first day?]" Overseer Otto inquired.

"I'm doing well, Overseer. Everything went smoothly. I've also identified some new and returning students who deserve attention," Theresa answered with her usual tone.

"[Ahaha, that's good. Discerning eyes are a very much appreciated skill for a leader. By the way, how is the progress on the mission I assigned? Although it's related to your former fiancé, I hope you know what should be prioritized.]"「Overseer Otto」

"S-Stop, there's no need to discuss that anymore, Overseer. It's a matter of the past. In that case, I will report the information I've gathered so far," Theresa responded, this time with a tinge of embarrassment in her voice.

While Theresa conversed with Overseer Otto, the three sisters were still busy speculating and trying to figure out where El Dust might be at the moment.

"Kiana, isn't there anything else you remember? You mentioned he seemed curious about that monolith, right?"「Sirin」

"Well, even if it was just a brief moment. I think Aniki was more focused on the girl named Moriarty than his surroundings," Kiana explained while taking the empty seat where Theresa just left.

However as the word Moriarty echoed, Sirin's face became more contorted with a frown. She expressed her frustration by downing the drink in her glass and put it down again with a thump.

"Besides his odd behavior and way of speaking, is there anything else? ... Ah, if I remember correctly, when he's alone in the room with that girl, he often mentioned the phrase 'my brother' this and that. But, you know... does he have a brother other than us?" Kiana wondered.

"Possibly... anything else?" Bianca seemed to be considering the possibility that someone else might have been involved in the arrival of the foreign girl, and calmly urged Kiana to continue.

Meanwhile, Sirin who was also listening, remained in a low mood while gazing at the images drawn by Kiana on the smart board with her remote.

And unbeknownst to them, as Kiana continued to speak unfiltered words, Theresa who was on the phone unintentionally overheard their conversation.

"[Theresa? Why do I hear strange noises from there? Are you eating potato chips or something?]" 「Overseer Otto」

This made her act strangely, gripping her own communication device a bit tighter.

"Hmm... he came out still in his casual clothes, and he didn't bring his phone. Then, these're just my guess, but earlier I saw them acting like they wanted to kiss on the bed. In other words, they're dating, right?" Kiana speculated.

It's not common for Kiana to act like a smart person, but when she does, she can look like one, at least in appearance. The hypothesis she just presented quickly caught the attention of Bianca and Sirin, as Kiana's speculations were intriguing.

And once again, Theresa unintentionally heard what they're discussing.

"So, what are you trying to say?" Bianca asked as she crossed her arm.

"Just think about it. First, the girl arrives in the room even without me realizing it. Then the second thing is about how obedient she is to Aniki. Even if I didn't interrupt, they might've already done this and that in the room!"「Kiana」

Hearing this, Sirin, who was previously leaning back with a sunken mood, now sat up straight. Cupping her head with both hands, she gazed at Kiana who continued her speech with fervent emotion.

"So?"「Sirin」

"If I'm caught, then I might feel extremely embarrassed and lock myself in the room until I get hungry."「Kiana」

"...It does seem like it happened before."「Bianca」

"But Aniki wouldn't, he'd just move to another place and continue what was interrupted. You both haven't forgotten about 'Homu Day,' right?"「Kiana」

Upon hearing Kiana's words, the two of them exchanged glances. It seemed like they had their own experiences that could validate Kiana's recent statement.

"Based on what I know about what couples tend to do, then there are two places I guess where Aniki might be right now. Considering this place is quiet and suits Aniki's habits," Kiana said with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"...Alright, so where are these two places?" Sirin asked, still considering Kiana's ideas to be somewhat foolish.

With pride, Kiana concluded her conspiracy theory and pointed towards a district that was only accessible to adults, and also the Forest of Shinano. She drew a large circle around them, making sure Sirin and Bianca understood where she was implying.

"L-Love hotel?! N-No way?!" Sirin exclaimed, but before letting Sirin turn even redder from the unusual words she heard, Kiana denied her own speculation.

"Aniki didn't bring anything, not even his phone. So, I believe he doesn't have any money with him now. As for Moriarty girl, her clothes don't have pockets or any space to store things. She also didn't bring a purse or bag like women usually do."「Kiana」

"In other words, they're penniless."「Bianca」

"So, I think Aniki is here. Especially since this place can be reached quickly if he used the same method to escape from home."「Kiana」

The white-haired conspirator agreed with Bianca's statement. She then marked the area where the red-light district was, focusing their attention on the other location. But unfortunately, Bianca and Sirin didn't share the same thoughts.

"That forest? The forest that you could never enter? That forest of illusion that'll send you away to the entrance when you even took a step onto its grass? Pfft, yeah, sure he's there," Sirin scoffed.

"I think what Sirin means is it's just very unlikely for brother to be in that place. If it's about dating and having a partner, there are still other romantic places in this city rather than a forest that's off-limits," Bianca explained.

According to Bianca's perspective, their brother was someone who could be an exemplary figure, a confidant, or a stern teacher in his discipline.

Unlike Kiana and Sirin, who often played around with their older brother, Bianca aimed to be more than just a little sister who whined to her brother. In her free time, she frequently sought guidance from "Zeimachi" in that world to expand her knowledge and skills.

"Inviting a woman to be alone in the forest, I don't think brother is that kind of man," Bianca added.

"Uhh... true." Kiana agreed.

From various martial arts moves to thought patterns, strategic planning, and even financial management, there were many things Bianca learned from her brotherly figure.

Although he sometimes behaved strangely, Bianca was quite proud of what her brother could do and had provided for her in that world.

"..."「Theresa」

"Uhmm, Theresa-sama?" Bianca questioned.

"Is the call over?" Kiana added.

Amidst their argument, Bianca then noticed Theresa, who seemed to be quietly eavesdropping on their conversation for some reason. It seemed she had finished her communication with Overseer Otto and was now figuring out how to join the conversation with the three sisters.

However, it wasn't as easy as it seemed. Even though Sirin appeared to be sitting casually, dismissing Kiana's words as nonsense, she also caught a bit of what Theresa had just mentioned.

"(Whisper) Could she be remembering something?" Sirin mumbled, her instincts sharpening.

"Theresa-chan and Onii, you two don't have any relationship anymore. Then why is your face like that?" Sirin asked.

"No need to say it, I already know. Our relationship is just in the past. Now, I just want to help you as my nieces. That's all," Theresa responded, as she closed her eyes to hide whatever showed in her heart.

Sirin's suspicion was correct, Theresa's expression was indeed related to a past relationship, most likely connected to what Overseer Otto mentioned about the "former fiancé."

"... I think Theresa-chan just wants to help us because she wants to meet Onii."「Sirin」

"That's one reason, but didn't I tell you? I also have another mission, so I can't be selfish and prioritize my relationship alone."「Theresa」

"... So you do want to meet him, huh. Heh, I guess adults have their own way." Sirin, with a hint of mockery, cast a sidelong glance at Theresa. It seemed she wasn't particularly fond of her aunt.

Of course, this made Theresa upset, especially since she knew that Sirin was an overly protective sister when it came to her brother.

Despite that, as an adult she restrained her outburst of anger because there's something more important to convey, even though her smartphone had now turned into shards as a result.

"I just received some information, and it seems what Kiana just said is true. From the satellite recordings I received, images of two suspicious figures entering that forest area were captured."「Theresa」

"Eh? Is that true?" Kiana asked, even she herself couldn't believe what she just heard.

"I don't know how, but yes. A man and a woman, someone who looks like him and also a girl with long blonde hair," Theresa replied as she showed the picture in question on the smart board.

The three of them became excited upon hearing this, as they now had a small lead. However, their joy didn't last long.

"But I must remind you, you must not go there."「Theresa」

Cold warning poured onto them and the three sisters couldn't say anything.

They actually wanted to immediately reject the words just spoken by the principal, but they're also aware that opposing the principal's words would lead to a very lengthy matter.

"Hmphhhmp hmmphhh!!!" Kiana was the exception, as usual.

"Keep holding her down, Sirin. She'll definitely escape if she gets a chance. Then, principal, can we assume that there are others who will go there?"「Bianca」

"For that, I don't know yet, but it seems the person who just called has the right people for the forest matter. You just focus on your first day, we'll handle that man affairs."「Theresa」

The three girls still weren't fully convinced by what they had just heard. Realizing that this was the inevitable reality, Theresa reiterated her words.

"If you're caught not attending the activities on this first day, I will use my authority as the principal to punish all three of you. Do you understand?" Theresa warned.

Only now did the three of them relent in their previous unyielding resolve. Whether it was Bianca, Sirin, or Kiana, they realized it would be more problematic if they argued with the principal.

Their positions as new students and nieces weren't in their favor either.

Afterwards, giving a few respectful greetings and salutations, the three sisters left the principal's office while trying to contain their frustration.

Theresa, realizing the stern action she had just taken, grumbled to herself inside her office.

"What is grandpa planning now, deliberately instructing me to reveal Machi-san's location but also prohibiting them and me from going there."「Theresa」

A crucial detail has been revealed – why Theresa just disclosed "Zeimachi's" current location to the three sisters. It turns out it was an order from Overseer Otto, who had just called her.

Theresa wasn't sure about the Overseer's plans, but she seemed to have a bad feeling about her grandfather's actions. Feeling her mind filled with perplexing thoughts, Theresa sat back behind her desk.

"But, sigh... so he has moved on, huh? He even has a new girlfriend. Yet, here I am, still struggling to forget Machi-san until now. How foolish of me," Theresa leaned her head on the table, reaching into her pocket and gazing at a ring inside.

Regret was indeed present, but as a principal, Theresa couldn't allow students to act recklessly. Hence, she set boundaries with the threat of her authority, a terrifying warning directly given from the Principal of St. Freya Academy.

However, since it was still nothing more than a threat, there had to be some ways around it. Theresa had simply stated that they would be punished if caught absent during their first day—a punishment that could only materialize if they were caught not following the principal's instructions.

"So, as long as we don't get caught, it's fine, right?"「Kiana」

"Well, I guess so."「Bianca」

"In that case, how about we leave the white one behind? If she comes with us, we'll definitely get caught," Sirin suggested.

"Oi, don't just leave me behind like that!" Kiana protested.

And as they walked out of the main building of St. Freya Academy, the three sisters had became aware of this strategy as well.

...

....

.....

Back again to El Dust and Moriarty who've been accomapanied with Yae Rin and Higokumaru, within the temple near cherry blossom tree.

Initially, they basked in a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere, engaging in light conversation as newfound friends. The air was filled with the delightful sounds of their laughter, complemented by the shared enjoyment of bites and sips of the provided tofu and tea.

However, a sudden shift occurred.

The once calm and serene ambiance was disrupted by an unknown force.

This mysterious power unraveled the seal that had contained the hidden demonic energy within the temple, and it also unveiled the true form of the diminutive humanoid-fox, Higokumaru into a giant beast with fiery flames.

[In this village, there exists a figure known as the spirit guardian of the old Sakura tree. Her presence is acknowledged by the Yae family lineage and revered by the villagers.] (Moriarty)

"Kukuku, yes I can see it. But looks like she's still holding her power."「El Dust」

[However, witnessing the numerous wrongdoings of humanity, the guardian spirit turned evil, transforming into a nine-tailed fox monster that once devastated the village.] (Moriarty)

The timeless girl continued her narration, closely following El Dust's movements as he skillfully dodged the colossal claws of the ferocious beast attempting to strike him.

[The one capable of appeasing the wrath of the corrupted spirit is the Miko, a chosen girl descended from the Yae family. The living Miko is known as Yae Sakura, while her younger sister is the current Yae Rin.] (Moriarty)

"Higokumaru! W-What's wrong with you..." exclaimed Yae Rin in concern, witnessing the unsettling change in Higokumaru.

"Stay behind that line, lass! Make sure you don't step further behind that rope," El Dust commanded.

In contrast to Moriarty, who seemed impervious to any damage from the colossal monster's claws, El Dust, unfortunately, was not as fortunate. He could be wounded, scratched, or even scorched by Higokumaru's attacks, for reasons unknown as to why that small fox-like creature had taken on her current form.

[When the spirit was at peace, she sealed herself within the temple, and what remains is... the current form of Higokumaru. That's where the beginning of Higokumaru's closeness to Yae Rin lies. Not only were they both often ostracized by many in the present, but they also had numerous opportunities to meet each other.] (Moriarty)

"Their bond seems like a friendship, doesn't it? A friend of man and beast, a connection between a lonely girl and a regretful beast," added El Dust.

The fox monster roared, causing the villagers who heard it to flee in terror. Its tails ignited like a raging fire, releasing numerous fireballs that El Dust had to fend off using a small pair of scissors.

"Huhuhu, then... why is she losing control like this? Is this also part of the destiny within the scenario?" questioned El Dust.

[...]

However, Moriarty remained silent.

She couldn't express her truth, and even when a fireball headed towards her, the timeless girl didn't flinch. Fortunately, El Dust took the initiative to deploy The Rope, pulling the timeless girl from her reverie.

"It's not time for daydreaming, milady. How do we calm her down?" albeit he know Moriarty won't suffer any damage, but he didn't want those cloths of her to receive burn mark in her place.

[... You just need to reseal a sword located inside the temple altar; that way, Higokumaru will regain tranquility.] Moriarty explained, unable to look at the man beside her.

Receiving a solution he accepted but didn't necessarily desire, El Dust swiftly took action. Without the need to enter the temple, he could actually accomplish what Moriarty had just suggested using his trusty Rope.

In addition to performing miracles when cut, and combined with its capability to emerge through dimensional rifts at any position, El Dust quickly halted Higokumaru's rampage, restoring the small fox monster to her chibi humanoid form.

"Higokumaru! Are you okay?" Yae Rin gently caught the small fox humanoid monster, appearing on the verge of tears.

"Uuuuh... my head hurts," groaned Higokumaru.

The situation quickly came under control, although El Dust now noticed a group of villagers approaching them. At least, there was no fox monster capable of wreaking havoc on the village anymore.

Nevertheless, it didn't mean he would let those responsible for causing all this go without consequences.

"That's easier than what I expected. Now, it's interrogation time," stated El Dust while Moriarty remained silent.

"Huhuhu, if you stay silent, it's almost like admitting it milady. I suspected as much, your behavior became a bit suspicious after we entered the village. Is there something bothering you?" El Dust probed.

Moriarty continued to stay silent, but with a gaze that concealed sharp emotions directed to where El Dust stood. As a girl with her own heart, she continued to stare at El Dust with her intense emotions, while El Dust himself gazed back with a grin that seemed ominous.

The persona itself wasn't idle either, allowing Yae Rin and Higokumaru to stay behind his Rope, he prevent the two of them from the unseen tension.

"Higokumaru, what happened to Onii-san and Nee-san? Why do they look like... that?" Yae Rin asked, expressing her concern.

"...I'm sorry, Rin. Honestly, I don't know what happened. But just now, right before I lost control of my sealed power... I sensed the scent of that girl."「Higokumaru」

"Eh?! So, they might already know who you are? But why did Moriarty nee-san make you..." Yae Rin trailed off.

"This is their matter, Rin. We shouldn't interfere too much. Although I'm a bit annoyed that the girl named Moriarty could casually disrupt the seal I created," Higokumaru floated back, leaning on Yae Rin's shoulder. She still appeared weakened, with her fox ears drooping.

Moriarty still persistently remained silent, although her eyes seemed to subtly glance towards the two lively creatures with pinkish hair.

"Kukuku. Milady, unfortunately no matter how capable I am, I'm still part of my brother, The Fool. I doubt Brother will know what resides inside your heart unless you open it."「El Dust」

The timeless girl still didn't utter a sound, but now her gaze wasn't as sharp as before.

She felt there was a better way to express everything that felt coiled up within her, something more fitting to do to the figure she had been eagerly anticipating.

"Do you... remember the promise you made? The promise that you expressed to me for the last time back then?" (Moriarty)

"Promise? What promise exactly?" El Dust questioned.

Unfortunately, the persona didn't entirely possess the memories that Zeimachi had. El Dust was the persona with many memories when he became the figure most hated by all lovers of justice.

Therefore, any promises involving bonds and connections older than him were not within his recollection.

"You're being hard to comprehend right now, Moriarty. Are you perhaps being corrupted or something? Is someone controlling you, perhaps?"「El Dust」

[... I'm not, these are all mine. They're all, mine.] (Moriarty)

The timeless girl began to appear peculiar, and El Dust felt that something was slowly changing from within her. Though not visible, he could sense it.

"Little fox, can you transform into your kyuubi form again?" El Dust hurriedly moved towards the two of them.

"Eh? I can't... I'm very tired and can't even move right now. What's happening?"「Higokumaru 」

"Onii-san, what's happening to nee-san?"「Yae Rin」

It seemed that both of them couldn't perceive the changes El Dust was aware of. This made the persona even more convinced that only he could discern the alterations Moriarty was undergoing.

'Lady Moriarty, what promise are you talking about? I'm sorry, but we different personalities are created within different timelines from one another. And since I don't know anything about you, this means you very much belong to a longer era than mine.'「El Dust」

As Moriarty could read his thoughts, the persona attempted to communicate directly from there. However, instead of a response, El Dust suddenly experienced an intense headache. He fell and laughed at the pain he endured but still tried to prevent Yae Rin from assisting him.

He also realized that the Feather given by Moriarty was showing some kind of response, as if trying to convey something.

Yet, when he attempted to touch it, the Feather dimmed again.

"Huhuhu, this has become much more interesting, hasn't it, my dears? A bond older than me. I wonder if I could ever cut it," El Dust remarked, tightly gripping a pair of scissors and a rope in each hand.

The persona was eager to unravel the true nature of the relationship between Moriarty and Zeimachi. It awed him that she was willing to wait for mere words for billions of years, amidst the uncertainty that surrounded her.

Unfortunately, before he could make a move, Moriarty was already beside him.

["My dears, huh? So that's how you address them now. The severing edge, and this long kindred. These kids are two of his materialized desires. Perhaps it's a bit late to say this, but... it's nostalgic.] (Moriarty)

There was warmth and loneliness in her eyes as she gazed at these weapons by his side. A feeling that kept her warm in her solitude within the "Empty World" where the color of emptiness enveloped everything.

Short memories that only Moriarty could know entered her mind, enveloping her emotions. This caused the feelings to flow down, wetting her cheeks.

This time, it's his turn to remain silent.

[Just now... I gained more knowledge about 'Zeimachi' in this world. From there, I also became more aware of what desires you all have.] (Moriarty)

"Is that why you made Higokumaru lose control of her power?" El Dust, unusually serious, stopped his musings with each word.

[I... I'm jealous. Perhaps that's the quickest way to put it.] (Moriarty)

Feeling a sense of unease in his ears, El Dust stared at Moriarty with disbelief. However, the girl was serious. What she had just said was not mere nonsense.

[In this world, you already have many people who love you. Even those who always protect you will always be there, because that's one of your hopes, right? Personalities?] (Moriarty)

'Well, perhaps that's true, but why would you feel jealous? Explain it so even I could understand, please?'「El Dust」

[You can't even remember the promises you made, but now you want to keep getting answers from me? The real you is there, right? Machi, are you there?] (Moriarty)

She wiped away her tears with her sleeves and sneered at his frantic state. It was unusual for Moriarty to display an expression other than a flat face when she was with El Dust.

On the other hand, when he saw the timeless girl smile, the persona could immediately sense the strange feelings he had experienced before. It urged him to immediately throw the girl away from his side.

'That being said, why don't you hope for a world together with him. Then you could spend your time together with him in there. That should be an easy feat am I right?'「El Dust」

The persona decided to distance himself from her once again and approach Yae Rin and Higokumaru, who could only watch from a distance. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a mistake in the course of action he chose.

The more Moriarty saw how El Dust shielded Yae Rin and Higokumaru behind him, the more convinced she became if he's the one who was truly "evil" here.

Evil not for coming to her side, but for going to their side instead.

[Yes, maybe you're right. I can easily done it, however that way... I'll betray my promise.] (Moriarty)

Her blonde hair slowly turned white, and her school uniform darkened. The accessories in her hair and the gleam in her eyes followed suit, reflecting the turmoil in the heart of the maiden who had started stepping into the dark side.

"Is that such an important promise?" trying to but more time, El Dust begun to talk whatever caught his attention with her.

[Huhu, that's the only most important thing I have. My promise to wait for him in the white emptiness while protecting this world from the touch of other creatures. Including my own hopes.] her transformation had ended, different from the blonde Moriarty, the current platinum her looks more majestic.

A staff with an hourglass suddenly appeared in her grasp, and the sparkling sand, resembling sapphire gems, continued to flow from one end to another.

Symbolizing time that kept moving within that world.

"Onii-san, she seems to be adopting your way of speaking?" Yae Rin remarked after being left out in order to hid Higokumaru within her cloths.

"So it seems. Do you have any idea how to calm her down? I already got some, but at least let me hear yours. After all, both of you are young girls still searching for love."「El Dust」

"Didn't she say she's jealous? Then make her laugh! Try explaining your reasons that can dispel her suspicions! That's what I often read in Sakura-nee's magazines."「Yae Rin」

Hearing their conversation, Higokumaru would remind the young girl not to read too much of those unnecessary things later. Next, since El Dust had received some clues, he followed Yae Rin's instructions in his own way.

"What can I do to cheer you up, Lady Moriarty?" El Dust spoke as if he's asking for her hand.

"(Whisper) No, don't ask her directly like that! She might get angrier thinking you don't understand her! Geez!"「Yae Rin」

[... I don't ask for much, because you've returned here, so the promise you made has been fulfilled. But when I see you with all the figures in this world, I become conflicted... do I still have a place there? Am I only needed as a Guardian?] (Moriarty)

"(Whisper) See what I say!"「Yae Rin」

[You have siblings who always protect you, cousins who consider you as their family, a fiancé who still can't forget you, and maybe even more as I get used to my role as a Guardian! So then, what's the point of me being here?] (Moriarty)

The emotions of the timeless girl overflowed even more. As a result, the villagers who seemed to approach directly became silent and unmoving, as if their time had been stopped.

Wasn't she told to wait because eventually, the man would return for her?

Time froze, mirroring the coldness in her heart.

Similar to several other places, time had also come to a standstill.

"(Whisper) Rin, you should look at the top. Even leaves froze and not moving, this is becoming bad," Higokumaru whispered while still within Yae Rin's clothes.

[Just now, I found out that you once had a fiancé. Strangely, as the Guardian of this world, I can feel her feelings too. And it's a feeling that's very warm but tortures me,] her palm she placed on the beating heart.

'Eh? My brothers, what did you guys wish for?!' sadly, no other personas could answer this question in the moment.

[Not long after, I also found out that there's another person who loves you more than just family, and what was initially just one person kept growing, again and again. Why do you even create a Nun, a holy woman in sexy outfit? What's the meaning of mommy dragon?] (Moriarty)

Hearing Moriarty express her feelings with her flat expression, El Dust was reminded of the proverb "Still water runs deep". Behind what was perceived as emotionless eyes, there hid a restrained flow of emotions.

[... You are loved by this world, just as you love and continue to protect it within your Feather.] (Moriarty)

The timeless girl's voice grew slightly louder, and her frustration and weariness became clearly audible in every word she uttered. However, at the same time, she expressed gratitude towards him for continuously preserving the world where she existed.

This made El Dust increasingly feel the cold air piercing his neck and arms. However, as if realizing the mistake, Moriarty returned to her usual demeanor.

[I should apologize first. I unintentionally lost control when I learned the names of those women. As the Guardian protecting this world, I shouldn't harm the spirits living in it.] (Moriarty)

Indeed, Moriarty could be considered an "upper being" when compared to the many powerful creatures in that world. The term "Deity" could also be used to address her.

No wonder Higokumaru always felt strange and fearful when near Moriarty.

[Therefore, before I become even more hated by Machi whom I know, I want to say this. As long as I have a little part of him, even tiny bits, I'll be content. That's why... would you please stay with me forever?] Moriarty pleaded.

Those words were the determining factor for what the timeless girl would do—whether she would be with him forever, or go against him and ignore that trembling hand reaching out. And knowing El Dust, the answer he gave was...

"My condolences for all of your grief, Moriarty. But I seem to disagree with the way you want to go about it," neither. His answer was neither of them.

Her eyes trembled upon hearing what she just heard, "[Uhm... is this also part of Machi's joke? If that's the case, with you together, I'll be able to have a long time to understand it, with you.]" Her hands trembled even more than before.

"That's not the case. These scene taken out from drama is dragging to long, and it ended up with nothing but meaningless chatter. "「El Dust」

Facing the expression of feelings from the girl, El Dust instead looked displeased. The persona that usually played around and enjoyed tormenting people seemed to dislike some of the things Moriarty had just revealed.

Using his Rope, he tied Yae Rin and Higokumaru to prevent them from escaping his grasp. Even though both of them struggled and wanted to know the reason for being treated this way, El Dust did not provide them with any answers.

"I cannot agree with you wanting only a 'little part' or 'tiny bits' of what you have. If you still hold onto it and don't want to let go, then take everything you have!"「El Dust」

With the bind he created from his rope, El Dust could now carry Yae Rin and Higokumaru on his shoulders. It seemed that the persona was truly fed up and wanted to leave the place.

However before doing so, he left a final message for Moriarty.

"For now, please calm yourself. There will be other personas after me. If you meet them, then make sure your feelings are also clear with them." El Dust remarked.

[Wait, where are you going?] Laden with despair, Moriarty tried to stop him with the power of her staff. Yet even when a beam of destructive light came at him, or even when time froze to halt his movement, the severing edge cut through them, rendering them useless.

"Let me remind you, oh Guardian, I am a persona who finds beauty in and also detests what is called 'Bond.' As its unrestricted by the world, dimensions, space, time, or even nature, bond can happen to anyone who expects something from someone else. But what you expect is not it, am I wrong?"「El Dust」

The Rope emerged from the cracks in the dimension in the cosmos, easily reachable for him to swing, just like before. His voice became more distant, and even The Guardian fell into contemplation upon hearing El Dust's recent advice.

Now the three of them were at a great distance from her. Despite that, Moriarty lowered her head and decided not to pursue him, for now.

She fell silent for the last time, nevertheless, everything around her had returned to motion, and even the damages that occurred had also reverted to their original state. Her hair remained white, and her stockings were still black.

Meanwhile, her heart had now turned gray.

[You can't run from me. Even though you're broken and torn apart, I can and will always find you.] (Moriarty)

With those words, she slowly merged under the shade of the huge Sakura tree, leaving the villagers momentarily shocked and frightened by what they witnessed.

[... If there're more of you, then I'll collect them, piece by piece. That way... the real him will finally return to me.] Moriarty smiled, and her presence disappeared from beneath the giant Sakura tree.

.....

Once again utilizing The Rope to relocate, El Dust with a more serious demeanor skillfully wielded his tool to achieve distances as small as possible, as long as it kept him away from Moriarty.

He swung and soared like a soldier of liberation with 3D maneuver gear, carrying Higokumaru and Yae Rin who both previously tied up.

"O-Oiiiiiii! Urghhh my stomach... Let me go! Don't you see Rin is-...Rin? Bwurghh!"「Higokumaru」

Bound just like a poultry with tied legs and tails, the small fox-humanoid monster while still weakened tried to stage a rebellion of little significance. This, of course, was given little attention by their kidnapper who continued darting from one place to another.

However, when she once again voiced her opinion, El Dust finally responded.

"Oi! Why does Rin get a good model but not me?!"「Higokumaru」

"Oh really? I'm sorry, huhuhu. I don't want to treat a little girl and an ingredient the same, you see?"「El Dust」

"What did you say about ingredients?!!"「Higokumaru」

Her reason for protesting was about how El Dust used different bindings for Yae Rin. While she's bound like a poultry, Yae Rin received more special treatment, with knots resembling a chair supporting both her legs and shoulders.

The knots of the bindings made her more flexible to move, although sometimes the ropes gave her a strange sensation when they touched her skin. Despite then, Yae Rin still seized the opportunity to observe the scenery they passed.

"Khugg... nhh... H-Hey, Onii-san, did you intentionally tie me up like this? It feels... strange when it rubs against me."「Yae Rin」

"R-Rin?! You lecherous pervert!!!"「Higokumaru」

"Hold on for a while, if Lady Moriarty catches up to us we couldn't do much."「El Dust」

Just like before with Kiana but a little faster, El Dust swung onto the tree, through the buildings, some cars passed, (unfortunately there's no titan here), water fountains, light poles, anything as long as The Rope could appear.

————————————————————

El Dust moved swiftly, spinning like a Beyblade and plunging like a roller coaster. With his two "tied" companions, he aimed to maintain as much distance as possible from Moriarty.

Due to the effect of The Rope, Yae Rin experienced slight symptoms that transformed pain into pleasure. Unfortunately, for Higokumaru, the experience was more like being a man-made Beyblade jet coaster.

El Dust didn't waste any kinetic energy or momentum, refraining from setting foot on the ground to maintain maximum speed. This continuous movement attracted the attention of numerous onlookers.

Pedestrians attempted to grab their phones, eager to capture the spectacle, but unfortunately, they couldn't retrieve their phones fast enough to snap a picture.

"Liliya-Liliya, did you see that?! Did you just see that?! Someone just flew like woosshh and swiiish, and then fwhooommm!!! Amazing!"「Rozaliya Olenyeva」

"Baka-Rozaliya, put it in more detail. I can't keep up with your senses; all I saw was something pink passing by in a flash."「Liliya Olenyeva」

"Who are you calling baka here?!" Rozaliya retorted, for some reason sticking her head closer to her blueberry-colored counterpart.

"Who else than Baka-Rozaliya in here?" Liliya responded, doing the same and sticking her face closer to her cherry-colored counterpart.

There's a commotion on the side of the road.

One of the sources of commotion is the two figures that appear like twins.

They are wearing the same uniform from St. Freya Academy, but their hair color, eye color, horn color, and even the color of the tails emerging from the back are different from each other.

Like a pair of twins who are different but similar.

Just like the other students, the twin siblings also need to attend their home room, but for some reason, they seem to be running while arguing in the middle of their journey.

"Because of Baka-Rozaliya keeps asking for a second now we're late to school!"「Liliya Olenyeva」

"Liliya also overslept because she keeps watching movies overnight!"「Rozaliya Olenyeva」

"I can't help it because that's just how I am!"「Liliya Olenyeva」

"Then I couldn't help it either because that's just how I am!"「Rozaliya Olenyeva」

They continued arguing while trying to find excuses for being so late to the academy, and as expected of twins, they often used the same words to respond to each other.

However, their commotion didn't go unnoticed and started to affect the people passing by.

"Brats... move."

"Ha!? Who are you to... tell... us..."「Rozaliya Olenyeva」

One of the passersby was a young man who happened to be in their way.

Of course, he wasn't an ordinary man. The slim figure stood right in front of Rozaliya and Liliya Olenyeva, wearing a mask that emitted more than a slightly dangerous aura for those who saw him.

It seemed the young man wanted the twins to move out of the middle of the road.

"You got something for me? Say it, I'd like to see you try."「Kalpas」

"Hello, Uncle Kalpas. Please forgive Rozaliya since she has a slight morning stomachache, and her mood is not at its best."「Liliya Olenyeva」

Due to how Rozaliya Olenyeva suddenly got her tail stiffen, the blueberry-colored girl spoke up then greeted the man with the scary-looking mask, and bowed to show her politeness.

She perfectly covered for her sister who got chickened out of context.

The cherry-colored girl certainly wanted to object to her statement, but before she could open her mouth...

"Do you want to live or not?"「Liliya Olenyeva」

"...*Nod-Nod*..." Rozaliya Olenyeva

Liliya swiftly silenced Rozaliya, then whispered a warning to her to prevent her from getting into trouble.

"... If this pink felt something awful then go and check it. Delta asked me to bring your notebooks, so hurry and take it."「Kalpas」

Just like how he spoke, the man didn't care if the girl had a stomachache or anything because it was her own fault. Besides, he had more important matters to convey, namely a book that he handed to both of them.

"O-Ouuh..."「Rozaliya Olenyeva」

"Hup. Thank you, Uncle Kalpas, we're really saved by you. Are you here just to deliver this to us?"「Liliya Olenyeva」

"Not your business, don't ask me more things and stop bickering like a brat. Get to your school, you're late," done with the small request he received, Kalpas walks away from the two.

"Fuuhhh... Safeeee... bleeeh bleeeh~ Scary-looking mask!" knowing Kaplas had gone by far, Rozaliya Olenyeva started to be in high ground again.

"Baka-Rozaliya, be careful or Uncle Kalpas will hear you. He has a sharper sense than normal humans, even more than us."「Liliya Olenyeva」

Immediately, she closed her mouth and gave a thumbs up to Liliya.

Then, they continued their walk to school. Rozaliya tried to imitate El Dust's move with her tail but ended up crashing into a billboard when she jumped from a building.

Fortunately, the idiot had a hard head. Liliya, who had no choice but to admit they were already late, thought they would be in big trouble at school.

...

....

.....

In the village of Yae, someone had returned home after completing her work. She was a woman who bore a resemblance to Yae Rin, but with a more mature demeanor.

"Rin, I'm home. Kallen visited my clinic to discuss her residence agreement, so I had to spend a little more time there. I'm sorry."「Yae Sakura」

She went through her usual routine, offering greetings that were typically answered by the voice of her younger sister shortly after.

However, this time, there was no response.

"Rin? Are you asleep?"「Yae Sakura」

The house was too quiet, and she hadn't noticed the presence of her younger sister. Concerned, she excused herself to enter Yae Rin's unlocked room.

To her surprise, there was no one inside.

"Rin?"「Yae Sakura」

Yup, battle is better.

I felt something wrong as I write this, maybe lewd will have to wait later in story.

See yaa

Edit: When that sudden battle now gone... I never thought if it'll become this long, and during that time, I think Kalpas and Delta will work quiet a bit with each other.

Edit2: It's fricking long!
