10 The truth

"Alright but what happened? To your daughter? "

"She was molested! " he said with a faint voice but it was clear enough to Jake.

"What! "

Jake is quite shocked by Mr. Dayal's sudden confession. He's daughter was molested and God knows how he kept it to himself so far. No wonder everyone in the department would call him the true example of patience.

"Who? "He hesitantly asked, knowing the gravity of the situation.

"She was very young. I never saw my daughter misbehaving someone. Just a normal child, like everybody else… very cheerful, sassy ."a tear rolled down his cheek. It was heartbreaking for him to watch Dayal crying.

Who could have imagined that deep inside he had such grief. " She was good with her classmates as well. But that guy, he destroyed everything. He was rejected by my daughter once and to take the revenge he….."

"Who is that guy? Who did this? "

"I understand that teenagers are impulsive but such behavior cannot be neglected. My daughter just rejected him because she didn't have such interest in him. She told me the whole story afterwards, but that boy has no right to do so. I….I informed the police and after searching that boy turned out to be some politician's brother. "

"Is that politician the one we are having the case on? " he still asked even if he somewhere knew it already.

"Yes"

"So did you get that boy?"

"I could have done that if those officers were more loyal to their work than to that politician. They got him a bail, removed all the charges on him. Those days I was only a minor agent here so I had very little say.I was helpless. My daughter was in the hospital, struggling and her mother was still in shock. I tried my best but couldn't save her"

This was beyond Jakes belief.He knew that the person under whom he worked for days was a corrupt but actually he was more than that. He was ashamed of himself. Why did he even worked for such a person?

Everything fell into its right place now. There was always a solid reason behind Dayal's commitment towards his mission.

"After her death me and my wife were broken. She was our only daughter." Mr. Dayal continues as he wipes off his cheeks.

"Mr.Dayal we will take revenge for you and your wife."suddenly something triggered his mind. Where is his wife? Is she…

" No she is not dead. "Dayal says as if he can read minds.

" Then.Where is she? We never saw her. "

"She left. She left me.Not long after my daughter's death I occupied myself with a lot of work and soon I had no time for anyone. Actually I ignored her, my house, everything.I made myself busy so that I don't have to face anyone. Those were years when I was promoted many times. I was successful professionally but I lost my family. Of course….she had to leave me. We got divorced soon after. "

"Why did you do so? " Jake was not even surprised. He has already had too much of that.

" What should I do then? I had no answers for my wife. She was unhappy. I couldn't give justice to our own daughter. How could I face her? So I intentionally ignored her. "

"Umm… does Loy know about this? "

"Yeah"

"But he never told us about this? "

Jake had no idea something like this was behind the whole story. In fact, 'Black' could never imagine such a thing. They just thought it was a usual case, but it was beyond that.
