25 Scorch Trials 6

Raiden couldn't see anything. His eyes were blurred out. A big crash. He was flipped over and hung to the seatbelt. His body was in pain. Little pieces of glass were embedded in his body. Blood was dripping down too.

When he regained his consciousness when the blurriness went away from his eyes. He still couldn't see anything because of the darkness surrounding him.

It was all dark until a green flash showed the terror again to him. The big black centipede was leaning down, watching him from his right side.

The green flash was made by Joel as he reached the first station and fired a green flare in the air. The fact that the green flash showed the centipede clearly to Raiden, he understood that he was a lot closer to the station now.

'This is bad. The centipede will get attracted to the flare and will try to go after the train. I have to stop it at all cost.'

The centipede seemed interested in the source of the flare. It shifted its gaze from Raiden to the flare. The flare glowed in the sky for a few seconds and then came the sound of squeaking of the wheels of the train.

Raiden struggled in the car to get out. He tried to pull out the seatbelt but it seemed to be stuck. Everything Raiden tried was futile, the seatbelt was jammed, and it didn't come out.

The centipede started slowly going in the direction of the station.

Raiden witnessed its long body swept by him. He got furious. He felt like a trapped bird inside a cage struggling to get his freedom. It was all over if the centipede caught up to the train and destroyed it.

'Come on man! Let me get the hell out of here.'

'Raiden, the machetes.'

A pleasant voice called out for him. It was Sheila.

'Yes. The machetes in the bag,' he swept his hand around in the dark to reach his bag. 'It has to be here somewhere.'

He found it. He took out the machete from the bag and cut the seatbelt. He fell and it hurt even more as he landed on the broken glasses. But it was fine. He was free now. He kicked the broken door out and came out along with his bag.

He was alone. He couldn't see the centipede anymore. He could see a few meters of his surroundings but the centipede had gone far away from him.

'Guess I'll have to use that then.'

He put his right hand inside the bag and took out the thing.

'It has been 5 long years since I have used this. I hope my aim didn't get rusty.'

'So much for the rusty aim, all you are gonna do is shoot in the dark,' Sheila said.

Raiden smiled. He felt the nostalgia holding it and aimed the gun in the direction where the centipede had left.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

He fired three shots consecutively and dropped the bag down. He saw the little glimpse of a moving silhouette in the darkness. He knew it was coming. The centipede came running towards him. Raiden anticipated the centipede's charge. He backed down and fired at the centipede.

Bullets didn't make any difference on its rigid skin. It didn't even flinch.

"I expected bullets to be useless against you but can you survive this?"

He held a grenade in his left hand. He picked that up when he took out his gun from the bag. He pulled the trigger and threw the grenade on the centipede.

[At Noon — Inside The Train]

"Take this," Joel said.

"What? A grenade? Huh. What in the world would I need this for?" Raiden questioned.

"Who knows? But there is no disadvantage in caring one with you. I always carry things like this with me.

"Well, If I'll have to use a grenade in this world then consider me dead at that point."

"Whatever," Joel shrugged as he handed the grenade to Raiden.

[Present]

Centipede, in the process of trying to eat Raiden, ate the grenade. Before centipede could reach Raiden the grenade exploded inside it.

A loud growl came from the centipede. Its inner organs came flowing out from its mouth along with lots of blood. It shivered with extreme pain and tried to run away from the situation. It went past Raiden and crawled back inside the hole in the ground.

'So even from a grenade it didn't die,' Raiden took a sigh. 'What a pain in the ass, well at least it won't be coming back for some time.'

Joel heard that big explosion made by Raiden. 'Was that Raiden?' He got worried about Raiden even more because of the big explosion which made an even more loud noise than the train.

The place around Raiden got lit up from the guts of the centipede which were on fire.

'Damn, that was a good explosion,' Sheila said as she glared at the glory site filled with centipede's guts.

'More like crap,' Raiden said. 'Well, we got bigger issues than just staring at this awful site.'

'Yeah yeah, they might be just coming right now.' Sheila agreed.

'Yup. Well. Time to use my secret technique at this moment '

'And, what is that?'

Raiden smirked, 'What else do you think?... Frickin run!!!!!'

Raiden started running. He ran in the direction where the second station was. But, his first objective was to get away from the site of that explosion.

Raiden suddenly came to a stop as he could hear the little rumbling of the zombies. He could hear it from all directions. The zombies had already invaded the explosion site and were searching around it.

The bigger problem laid ahead of Raiden as zombies were slowly coming from that direction.

There was no way for him to escape. His behind was already filled and from ahead zombies were slowly marching.

Raiden opened his bag and took out both of his machetes. He slowly started to walk ahead while holding both machetes in his hand.

The distance between the horde of zombies coming and Raiden closed up.

'Guess I have only gotten one option left now. To make my way through slashing all these zombies.'

While being said that, he jumped ahead into the crowd of zombies.
