51 Fever

One day had passed since those Flesh-Eating Monsters started attacking the people of Tokyo. The government had issued a lockdown of 7 days all over Tokyo for the safety of the citizens.

The police tried to take control of the situation at any cost. They shot the monsters on sight. But, the monsters were spread everywhere and were overwhelming in number, it wasn't easy for the police to stop the chaos in just one day.

In just one day, Tokyo had become an isolated city where no one roamed the streets except for those Flesh-Eating Monsters and the cops trying to stop them.

The dawn of the 2nd day came. Raiden had woken up and sat in the backyard of Toshi's house with Toshi.

"Let's go," Toshi said.

"Yeah," Raiden replied.

Raiden had just talked about his nightmare to Toshi. He found his fault in Chido and Takeshi's deaths. But, after talking to Toshi, he no longer blamed himself and, instead, focused on the problems they were facing.

Ralf and Makie had woken up too. Ralf didn't look as much cheerful as he was before. And, Makie didn't talk with anyone else.

After what happened to them yesterday, today's morning was peaceful. All the streets and houses in the neighborhood were silent. It was a rare moment to watch.

As instructed by the government, no one dared to leave their home. Everyone was isolated inside.

The day in Toshi's house went as usual. Everyone did their necessary things and ate the breakfast which Toshi made. After that, they just chilled inside the hall room. They talked about some things but mostly everyone was silent. Toshi's dad was not present in the hall room with everyone.

"But, your dad did say that everything will be fine after 3 days," Ralf said.

"How can you even believe whatever he says?" Toshi was a little annoyed.

"Ahhh, but, he looks like just an experienced guy who would know everything."

"When did he get the experience of these kinds of things?"

"Oof, leave that, you guys," Raiden interrupted.

"So, what else do we even talk about then?" Ralf asked.

"I don't know, maybe go talk to your family or something. Ask them if they are doing okay."

Ralf smirked, "Jokes on you, I already talked with them yesterday and they said they are doing fine."

Makie snapped out of her thoughts after hearing Raiden mention family. She was so lost in so many thoughts since yesterday that she completely forgot about her family and their well-being.

"Mom and dad," she murmured and hurried toward the telephone which was in the corridor.

"What happened to her?" Ralf asked.

"She remembered about her family just now, I assume," Toshi said.

After some time, Makie came back into the hall room, sweeping her tears away. She sat down on the sofa and smiled, "They are okay," she said. "I felt so good after talking with them. It was so good that I couldn't stop crying."

"I am glad your parents are safe," Ralf said with a big smile on his face.

"Yeah."

"Finally some good news, right Maki?" Raiden said with a smile on his face, too.

"Stupid, how many times do I have to tell you to not call me Maki?" Makie said but she wasn't angry, rather, she was happy.

"I feel like Raiden calls you Maki now, just to trigger you," Ralf said and he laughed.

Makie laughed too and Raiden chuckled a little.

It was a happy moment for everyone which felt like it was after a very long time.

But, Toshi interrupted that moment and asked Raiden, "Are you not going to call your family?"

The laughter vanished as they felt the seriousness of the question.

"I already called them, last night. But, they didn't pick up."

The mood got totally down and no one knew what to say after that.

"But, don't worry. I know they are safe," Raiden said with a smile on his face. He made that smile just to lose some seriousness from the room.

"Are you sure? That they are okay?" Makie asked. She was extremely worried.

"Yeah, I am sure. Knowing them, they would have cut the line from the telephone so that there won't be any source of the noise. We should do that here, too."

"But, wouldn't they want to get in touch with you? So why would they cut the telephone line?"

"Don't worry about it. They are just like that."

Raiden showed no emotions on his face when he talked about his parents.

Makie wasn't satisfied and wanted to ask Raiden more questions but Toshi knew Raiden was in no mood of talking about his parents so he interrupted before Makie could ask.

"It's already past noon. Who wanna have some lunch?"

Ralf jumped up and shouted, "Me!" He was no good with serious talks so he always tried to cheer up the mood with his over-enthusiastic behavior.

"Let's eat," Raiden also stood up and went ahead out of the hall with Ralf.

"Wait," Makie called out from behind but Raiden had already left by that time.

"Leave it, Makie," Toshi said.

"But-"

"He doesn't like talking about his parents so it's best to not keep the topic going on."

Toshi left the room, too. And, soon Makie followed after them.

After that, Makie didn't mention that topic again.

Their whole day went as a normal day. Nothing crazy happened and they all had nothing to worry about. At night, they all watched the news together and nothing new was going on in Tokyo. Just the cops trying to kill all the Flesh-Eating Monsters. They discussed some things with each other. This time, Makie was participating in the conversation, too. After talking with her parents, her mood became a lot better.

It was the time that they all went to sleep.

The 3rd day came.

Raiden had a decent sleep this time. He woke up and found out there was no one in his room. He was surprised that Ralf woke up before he did.

He walked out and went toward the backyard. Surprisingly, both Toshi and his father were not there.

He went around the house in search of them. He came by Toshi's father's room and found both Toshi and his father in there. Surprisingly, Ralf was also in there but he lay down inside a futon.

"What's happening here?" He asked.

Toshi looked toward him and said, "Ralf suddenly got a very high fever."
