Chapter 27: Follow the Leader

CESIA'S POV

IT'S PAST midnight and we are waiting for the Bogeyman to take our assigned bait. Amara and I were in a separate room, while the boys were on the other side of this area. We are done sleeping and we plan to wake up at midnight, so we can follow the monster who steals children.

"Will, our plan succeed? " I asked Amara whose now lying in the bed. Playing with her dagger by throwing and catching it in the middle air. She just looks at me with a big questioning look on her face.

"Why did you ask that kind of question? Won't you trust his plans?" She said while continuing what she does. She is referring to Trevor's plan. I was too tense and nervous about our plans, knowing it's the life of the children were talking about. Worst, he wants the child to act for the monster to appear on us.

"I-I was just worried. What if, the bogeyman didn't take our bait? Then, the lives of the children whose in his lair were on the verge of dying? What if, were too late to find them? " I massage my forehead while walking back in forth in front of Amara. I can't deny the fact if that will happens, a lot of parents will be hurting.

'Calm Down, Ces… You're overreacting.' Zia said.

'And you know I'm not, Zia." I clenched my jaw, I hope I can do something to help them, but the heck, I didn't even know what are my origin. I don't know how to fight and worst I don't have power. I am a useless person.

Blag! Blag!

"He-lp! Some-one help us!" I heard little voices calling for help as if they were having difficulty talking.

"Did you hear that?" Referring to the little voices, I heard. Amara stop from what she is doing and frowned.

"What should I hear, if I haven't heard it?" She just shrugged and continues what she does.

'What? I heard it, someone calling for help.' I said in my thoughts. Why she didn't hear those voices?

'Maybe, we should look for it. I feel different about it.' Zia suggests too. I nodded and think of an excuse.

"Ah, Amara? I'll want to go out." I said while I am playing with my fingers. And my eyes were lurking inside the room, just to avoid her scrutinizing gaze.

'Why it is too hard to hide my lies?' Since I wear the amulet, my senses and emotions came back haywire as if I can't control them. Seems like I am adjusting my emotions and I can't afford to hide it.

"You know that it's too dangerous to go outside, Ces. " Yeah, Trevor warned us not to go out at this hour. But, I want to go where those voices came from.

"I'm thirsty and I want to drink cold water in the kitchen. Just a minute, please!" I avoided myself from stuttering, and I think it's a success? I tried to act cute while my eyes are twinkling. I know it's too, childish, but I had to do it.

"O-okay, you know that I can't deny with your puppy eyes. Geez, I can't imagine you're doing that. Please go back, immediately. Okay?" I nodded like a kid and smile at her.

I quickly go out of the room and didn't turn my back at her. I manage to pass down the stairs and go where I heard those voices. I found myself on the balcony while tiptoeing.

It's very dark out here, but I manage to see the view of the balcony. It is because of the reflection of the moon. I hide in the big bushes of the plant in the vase when I heard someone growl.

Groooowl!

The monstrous growl filled my body with goosebumps. I heard a low thud and cry of a familiar child. My heart went racing, and my body is trembling from fear.

'God! I'm so brave to go outside, but now I heard that creepy voice, I almost chicken out!' I am now cursing inside my head because of my fear. I'm so stupid to go outside, not minding having a chance to encounter such a monster.

"He-lp! Mom-my! Dad-dy!" My ears perked up and slowly look where the voice came from. This is it, I have to overcome this knee-jerk situation.

I advert my gaze at the center of the balcony. I almost shout and control my gasp from what I see.

"N-o way! This can't be happening!" I whispered and was shocked.

'H-ow? Shit! I-I think we're the ones who were fooled.' Zia said. It's unbelievable and no one notices this monster coming.

"Ha-ha-ha! No one will hear you kid. They were such a fool to make bait for me. Ha-ha-ha, you think I didn't feel and notice it? "The monstrous voice of a bogeyman filled in the area. Why they didn't hear it? I look to his ape-like body filled with black shiny hair, his green eyes, his sharp fangs, and claws. Geez, a very ugly creature. I can't imagine seeing like one.

"N-o! I'll make sure you didn't succeed in dominating our souls. You're an evil and greedy monster. I'll make sure you will come back where you came from, to Hell." Ethan gritted his teeth and bravely speaks forewarn messages to the Bogeyman. I can't imagine, how he managed to say those words. He was so brave and I know this child has an intelligent brain.

Yeah, you heard it right. Ethan was the child calling for help while crying. I know Trevor's plan failed because of this situation. Why did he fail? Because Nathan is also here lying unconsciously on the floor. I don't know what happens, but I'll make sure that I will follow these monsters into their lair. I must make a fast plan for them to know, in case they didn't reach us.

"How dare you say that? Who are you a God? Ha-ha-ha! No one shall recognize, you were missing this time. No one will ever locate my place, and if they will succeed in finding it? Ha-ha-ha, maybe you are all dead. Such, a blab!" I almost shout from what he does to the kid. And, covered my mouth to conceal my voice.

He monstrously looks around, as if he feels my presence. I close my eyes and silently praying that he will never find me here. My hands are trembling and my tears were freely falling in my eyes. I can't bear seeing Ethan and Nathan like that.

He is a monster! He had no mercy to do it in a child! He slaps Ethan and hits his head on the floor that made the kid's consciousness went black. Blood flowed from Ethan's head. I want to run on his side and grab them out there, but I must hold myself and follow that monster. Even in this kind of situation, I can't do anything. I hope he will be okay. I know he's strong.

"Hm. Better! You're so very noisy, young man! It's time to take both of you to my home. How dare a foolish child, disobey and hates your parents. I will be the one who will discipline your filthy attitude." He grabs Ethan and Nathan, holding them with their clothes, and carries them like it was a plastic bag. The twins were hanging in the mid-air without consciousness until the boggart jump put on the balcony.

'No!' I quickly move and get the location device on the floor. Ethan drops it. It is the device given by Aries to him. It will help us locate the lair of the Bogeyman if the monster successfully got Ethan. I'm thankful, I go right here and follow my instinct. I will erase my fear in my mind, the life of the children was very important. I must follow that fucking monster and hope for them to notice it quickly.

"If Ethan failed to bear this device. Then, I will. Wait for me kids, Rescue is coming." I said with full of determination, holding tightly the device and jump off the balcony.

'Fighting!' Zia said excitedly. Geez, this thought such a weird one.

Blag!

"Ou-ch! Shit! I thought it's not too depth, to jump out of the balcony." I massage my hips because of my epic landing on the ground. I didn't think that the balcony I jump out was almost twenty feet high. I'm so stupid to notice it, why did I follow those Monster? I'm not like them, and it is so easy for him to land in the ground, while me, geez? I'm too high, to think that I can do it easily. Well, I manage to land but in an uneasy way. Heist!

'Ces. I-I know it hurts down there. However, we have to move and follow that monster guy. I don't want our effort will end here. So, please kick our ass off." What the hell, this thought came from? How could she say and order me like that? Like, Hello? I shake my head ignoring what she said. She was right; I have to follow that Bogeyman thing.

I carefully stand and brush off my dirt. I look in the dark forest where the bogeyman passed. I manage to run not minding my aching back and butt. I need to overtake them, so I can follow on a right track. I hope they will saw my left message on the balcony in no time. So they can follow me here, I have no time to tell it to them. It is because we might lose the monster's way home.

I am not in my right mind to think, but I know somehow those kids need help and I don't want the time will come for our regrets.
