1 Prolouge

(CLACK). Door closed. He puts the map on the strap stick over his head. He turned on the car. Bolt of an engine uproar as he push the pedal. He turns on the radio. (Autumn Kings-- Devil in Disguise), song plays. Radio chatters, ramming and jumbled low voice coming from the radio can be heard.

He wears his helmet, nuts on his sun glass the he nuts his left hand on the car steerer. He picks up the radio.

He smiled," Alright boys!, let's roll," he said.

Dirt soars, coming from the tires of the hammer as it accelerates and fades away from the reach of sight of the guard on the watchtower with the sign [UNITED NATION] engraved on the metal plate hanging on the bottom part of it.

Shadows of the vehicles shades the dessert soil leaving behind the traces of the tires on the road as they go on the dried highway as fast as 120 k/ph. Three vehicles altogether including on military supply truck in the middle with two hummers escorting it.

The convoy consists of four UN peacekeepers, one journalist with her camera man, and two doctors for a total of 10 people. The man equipped with full military uniform handling the .50 caliber machine gun on the top of the hummer, looked up on the horizon to the faded mountain he squinted his eyes, he can't see well because of too much brightness sunlight Even if he is wearing sunglasses. Observing the almost non-ending sand and valley on this vast dessert. Its 8 o'clock in the morning but the heat almost burn you into crisp with 44 degree Celsius. Blurry road like its moving, swaying from side to side because of the heat.

Rosary were swinging in the glass of the car because of the bumpy ride. The supply truck behind them carries food, medicine and water supplies for a little village of refugees from Iran.

Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of 1 and half hour from UN base to the certain village can be wasted on just traveling. Threatened for at least an hour of possible terrorist attack. Wasted on dessert heat that dries your throat , drains your stamina, the possibility of heat stroke is above average. Nothing can be heard but the car of the engine, music for boredom and the radio chatters for communication inside the car. Besides that, only the sound of terror inside me is what bugging me most.

A moment later, up on a hill, a glimpse of houses and tents can be spotted right ahead of them. It was 15 km away. As they reached the village, some groups of doctors and volunteers greeted them and some refugees approached them. There are tents and portable clinics donated from different countries concerning for them, politicians will definitely do everything, they even have names on it, scumbag politicians never disappoint. It is truly a dreadful and stressful place you don't want to stay. People are starving and dying, well just looking at their miserable small bodies. Man, woman and children even the old.

Considering them for evacuating their country because of coup de' etat in their country. Some of their family member were killed while running through the border. Bringing nothing but their lives that is literally hanging on a thread during the day they've escaped.

Well we can say that the border were only the safe place the poor can go, that's what are they thinking, those sparkling eyes that yearned for comfort yet they can't cross the other country because of its government doesn't permit so. Even if they try to cross, they will be shot dead by the guards on the fences. The border is just an empty place, Just only some trees and a small pond in the middle of the dessert, so finding food there will be very difficult.

6 pm, sun is setting. It's getting chilly. They were preparing to go back to base. Captain Arthur Douglas, 53 years old, divorce. Picks up the radio and report. While the journalists were packing their stuff at the hummer.

The two doctors were staying. Corporal Nathan was assigned to stand as a rear gunner. With Sergeant Kyle Humpty were riding shotgun and the Captain will be the driver, they were setting out. , the convoy start moving.

"Man, doing this job makes me hungry," said Sergeant Kyle.

"Hey Sarge," Corporal Nathan said

"You're already eating that meals ready to eat (MRE), and you still ask for more?".

"That's right Sergeant, I don't need bigger Pudge on my squad."Captain Arthur added.

"But Captain..., Change of topic. Those people..."

"I know Sergeant, You wanna help them right?" said Captain Arthur.

"I wanted to help them too, but you see, we can't do much for them."

"Look Sergeant, I wanted to be with my two daughter back home, I'm an old man, I'm going to retire in another 7 years I wanted to retire peacefully... Involving yourself too much in that will be just a drag."

Captain Arthur said while Sergeant Kyle continued on chewing his food.

7:30 pm. The road were pitch dark. thanks for the light in the car we were fine. My eyes were heavy, I'm too tired for not sitting for 5 Hour without rest.

Then Corporal Nathan heard an engine coming from afar with a Four small fainted light. As they get near to it, I realize It was a cars, I pointed my gun towards it.

"Captain, I'm seeing a four vehicles through our north". They stopped and park on side road.

Captain Arthur picked up the radio. And started talking on it.

"Unidentified vehicles, this is convoy Douglas, please state your identity...over," They look on it cautiously.

They waited but they aren't getting a response.

"Unidentified vehicles….respond, Over," Captain Arthur said again.

But still we aren't getting any. So we decided to get near to it slowly. A moment later a very fast projectile started firing at us.

(ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT)... (PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK)

Impact on the projectile as it blast on the hummer.

As Corporal Nathan realized it was a two technical. They started to rain them over by bullets.

"Hostiles!!" Corporal Nathan shouted as he start to retaliate gunshots.

Captain Arthur quickly reverse the hummer. Sergeant Kyle picks the radio.

"We got four technicals incoming through our north...get ready to engage."

"Roger".

"No!" Captain Arthur interfered. "We will evacuate we can't risk it...we got civilians. " Captain Arthur said.

"Report to command, that we need immediate assistance."

"Yes sir, (KIRK) Command this is convoy Douglas, we are getting ambush at sector grid 0097432 Quebec Quebec. We need immediate extraction over...."

"Roger that Convoy Douglas, Hold your position, we are sending black hawks to your location, ETA 15 minutes."

"Roger that, over and out."

"Captain!" Sergeant Kyle shouted.

"Status report, we got black hawks incoming. ETA 15 minutes." He added.

"We can't risk it Sergeant, in ten minutes the civilians will be dead. We need to lose them. Take that Map, find us another possible route".

Sergeant Kyle grabbed the map over Captain Arthur. He look at it. The stress can be drawn to his face.

"Fuck!! I can't die now"

" Captain, the road's straight we can loose them," Sergeant Kyle said as he raised his voice.

Out of a Sudden a big hill rock appeared right on our left with a road on with unfamiliar terrain.

"Sir, we got road by that hill that is not on the map." Sergeant Kyle said.

"We going to hard turn left," Captain Arthur said on the radio.

"Roger," it replied back.

Sweats drips on Corporal Nathan's forehead even though its cold. As they entered left on the intersection. The wind suddenly feels strange, vehicle were consumed by thick fog. With a clingy atmosphere that gives shivers unto their spine. The place were thick fogs with dead trees align together on the road side. The convoy started to move slowly…
