29 Skeletons in the closet

Dai stared at all of them. His eyes were Siberian cold. So cold that each of the offenders stepped back. Dai was normally a very friendly and approachable person. When such a person graced you with a death stare, you had to run for your life. Still none of them dared to move. Even Lucy had stopped making any noise.

" I do not care for who started what. I am not interested in the drama. As students of this camp, you have to learn to behave with civility, violence is prohibited. I will deduct 50 points to all of you here"

Dai was barely containing his anger. His voice was extremely cold. All the students were shivering under the pressure. Inside, he was raging, but he had to be fair. He didn't witness the whole scene and, even though he knew Ran had definitely a good reason, she still had punched Lucy.

"I didn't do anything Instructor Dai! Why do I need to have 50 points deducted?!"

Few students were now protesting against the measure.

"Exactly, you didn't do anything. Shouldn't have tried to prevent this kind of situation? Now stop arguing or I will deduct 25 points more."

One have to know that in order to graduate from this elective a student had to at least try to get 200 points out 300 possible points. Even though there was a lot of ways to gain points: 150 points were granted during the survival test, then missions during the camp stays with various points, as well as rewards from instructors. There was also a lot of ways to lose points and even earning points was not an easy task. To make things even more difficult, there was no lower minimum, the points you cumulated could get into the negative.

Finally, even if you were to bribe you way out of the survival exam, it was not a guaranteed pass for the elective. This elective was really a pain in the a** for all the teenagers eager to move to college. Hence hearing that 50 points were going to be deducted from their total points was a huge blow for a lot of them. The camp barely started and they were already in the minus.

"What about Ran?! What about her punishment?! That's not fair Instructor Dai" Lucy was whining again.

"Ran since you did hurt your campmate, you will go run around the camp for 15 laps and I will personally supervise this."

The students who were taking Lucy's side were satisfied and start dispersing. Lucy was still indignant but didn't want to push her luck too far. After all she did provoke Ran. She stood up with her followers' help and left.

When nobody was looking at him, Dai winked at Ran. Ran winked back and smiled. She did it all very quickly, afraid someone would catch her in the act. Both Dai and Ran knew this punishment was not really a punishment. Since she was isolated, after dinner, instead of partaking in the activities, she would always go for a run. And now, Dai had a good excuse to accompany her in her run. He was actually overjoyed.
