46 Lingering feelings

The next day, Lily woke up to a lot of noises. Some people were making a ruckus outside her room.

"LET ME ENTER! DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" The tone was menacing.

"Miss Ivy, we can't let you enter. Master's orders are absolute. No one else but him can enter this room".

The guards were aware she was the sister of the Master of the Valley, daughter of the previous Master. The previous Master had adopted the current Master and end up giving him his position.

So it was not they were ignorant of the hierarchy but to disobey the Master of the Valley was to court death. Even if the current Master of the Valley was very fond of his sister, they still needed to follow orders.

"My father is not dead yet, even though he passed on his position, I am still my father's daughter. Do I need to bring my father out in order to access that room?!"

The guards were now hesitating.

"Ivy, why are you here?"

"Master, welcome back"

All the guards welcomed the Master of the Valley with relief and bowed with respect.

"Brother, I heard you brought a human girl back to the valley. I just wanted to take a look... but they stopped me! You need to discipline them better! How dare they?"

Her voice was now sweet and charming like a white lotus. There was no longer any traces of the arrogant woman that was asserting her dominance. As she was complaining to her brother, she was giving furious glances to the guards that were preventing her from entering the room.

"Ivy, they were just following my orders. This human needed complete rest with no disturbance in order to survive. Your brother didn't thought you would be interested in such an insignificant being and thus, didn't think of mentioning you as an exception.

The Master of the Valley's voice had a hint of cajoling and his expression became softer as he was looking at his sister. It was easy to see those siblings were closed even though, they didn't share a single drop of blood.

"Would you like to take a walk with your brother? I have not seen you since you came back from your mission. This brother had missed you."

He went to her and turned her away from the room. Strategically, he managed to divert her attention from the room. Even though, he was affectionate with his sister, he was not completely oblivious to all her flaws. She was spoiled and he knew very well she was very territorial and could not bear any shadow of competition.

As he was guiding his sister away from the room, he gave a warning look to the guards and said telepathically in a very categoric voice :

"My orders still stand. No one is to enter that room."
