1 Prologue

"Acanathasia, my dear. You are destined to do, and for great things."

Before my mother died, she said me those words. I also want it to happen. But according to my beliefs, all greatness starts on oneself. Nothing will happen to me if I just sit back and wait.

Right now, I live alone in the slums of Hatina, a city from Andromeda Empire. My Mom is the only family I've known of. I don't know about my father or my relatives. I am working everyday in an eatery so I could pay off my bills and buy my daily necessities.

But I don't want to live this kind of life. I want to experience a life that my mom told me. That's why I'm planning to take the entrance exam in an upcoming enrollment at Lapis Lazuli tomorrow.

Lapis Lazuli is a prestigious school located in Pristina, the Capital City of the empire. Only few can be accepted because of its high standard when it comes to students.

Honestly, I don't even know my powers right now that's why I'm not that confident. But I trust my mother's words.

I'm gonna explain some things while I'm arranging my baggage for tomorrow.

Centuries long ago, there was a war between the ordinary humans and the people with supernatural abilities. There's some discriminations going on between the people who don't have magic from the start and those who use magic. Majority of people want them dead since they see their magic as a threat.

In the end, they decided to co-exist. Things changed drastically after that. It created a natural hierarchy amongst them. The stronger your magic is, the higher your status. That's why majority of ordinary people are poor. Still, there's some rich people who don't have magic that exist today.

It's a bit sad but I hope that the future monarch can fix this problem.

However, commoners can also have magic. While royalties and nobles have a magic because of their bloodline, commoners can acquire magic if they are blessed by the Divine Court.

Divine Court are groups of powerful deities who resides in the Jade Haven. There are tons of them in Divine Court but there's eight of them who stood out the most. They symbolize the eight elements. Wind, Earth, Electric/Thunder, Water, Ice, Fire, Light and Dark. Some of the people who can use the power of elements are nobles or royalties but there's some lucky ones that are blessed by those particular deities.

As for my powers, it's still undiscovered. Surely one of the entrance exam include the activating of powers so I will know tomorrow if I have one or not. I'm excited!

The next topic is about Etoile, the name of this world. It is said that there's many world and universe exists and Etoile is one of them. This world is special. It's mysterious, magical, and full of wonders waiting to be discovered.

Etoile is a vast and wide place. The Andromeda Empire is one of the biggest land here. We are currently reigned by Emperor Louise Arthur de Monique together with the Empress Letisha Jane Millé – de Monique.

The emperor and empress has a son and a daughter. Crown Prince Phoenix Carloise de Monique and Princess Sonette de Monique. I don't know anything about them but there's some rumours, all of them are good things. I just don't pay attention to them that much since I have many things to worry.

Lastly, Lapis Lazuli is a school where they train their students to be the best. But being the best means you also need the best ability. They want a diamond in rough to polish, I hope that I'm also one of them.

Based on the informations I've heard, there's a couple of tests you need to pass in order to be accepted. First is to test your physical abilities. The second one is not really considered a test but merely a requirement for those who don't have magic like me because this is where they see if you have a magic within you or not. Lastly, they observe your magical capabilities.

I'm sure I can do well in the first test. People around me have said that the reason why bandits still hasn't raided our place is because they heared about how strong am I.

"This should be enough." I said to myself as I wiped the beads of sweat in my forehead after I finished packing my baggage for tomorrow.

It's just some clothes, sanitary pads in case of emergency (it's pretty expensive but it's worth it), some money of course, and the things that my mother left for me. It was a delicate-looking jewelry box with intricate designs all over it. It is locked and the key is in my possession as a necklace. I don't know what is it because I haven't opened it yet but I have a feeling that it was important so I'm really taking a good care of it. I don't feel like opening it yet tho.

After grooming myself, I left my house together with my travel bag and glance at it for a short time. This is where I lived together with my mother since the day that I was born. When I succeeded in reaching my goals, I will come back here, for this is my home.

"Ace!"

I looked back to see who called me and I saw my acquaintances. They have done so much to my us and I am always grateful for them. It makes me sad to think that I will leave them here.

"Do your best!"

"We'll pray for your success."

Each of them expressed their sincere goodbyes and wished me good luck. I smiled at them, "Thank you so much. Please take care while I'm not here. I promise, I will be back."

"Don't worry about us, silly."

I will miss them especially the children here. Some of them are orphans so I often took care of them.

After I said my farewell, they accompanied me until I get inside at an old carriage.

"Good bye, Ace! We're gonna miss you," They said and watched me while the carriage I was riding in drove away.

I breathed deeply as I made up on my mind. This is it! I hope I do well. Deities from Divine Court, please bless me.
