Sometimes the perfect scenario would be defeat.

That's what her father always told her, and that is the thought that came over her mind as she gazes upon the vast and dreadful battlefield.

She strides through the mountain, her light gait taking her to the top view. As she looks down to the field of injured soldiers, most hardly even made it.

The metallic scent of blood filled the cold air and despite the rays of the morning sun. It still sent a chilling sensation across her back.

Somehow, this gave her a surge of excitement that banished all her pain and fatigue. It's wicked to find it entertaining, she's well aware of it. She knows better than to let that thought roam her mind.

Ignoring the thought, she turned and follow a dull path down the mountain. And at the end stands the army she led, who bare little injuries to their concern. She can tell from the proud grin they have, that she can almost hear their boasting yaps from a mile away. And there she thought she can get away from it by taking a walk for an hour and a half.

While the other team leads ten to forty men, she only led five. And to the lieutenant's surprise, they were still alive after five years of restless wars.

"Eve Merridae, guess what!" Her blond soldier greets as she walks towards them "the 20th war that I have survived on and she finally said yes!"

His brother strikes him a harmless punch "idiot, she gave up because she was hoping you'd die!"

"Nonsense" his little brother frowned.

"Guys, come on" Her silver head man interrupted "if anyone's getting married, it's me." And he flashed a blinding ring on his right hand

"Let's hope you won't die in the next war" her Raven head rolled his eye "and by that, I mean it's in the next three months"

"He's right," Eve agreed

she walks forward and everyone silenced as they watch in such awe, of her poised and grace. That they part like the red sea, they train a lot together but her presence is irresistible.

"There's still a war coming up soon, don't celebrate until then." She guarded her tone, yet her delicate expression says otherwise

Her gait was not interrupted as she continues down the path. Married or not, it's tempting not to turn to her presence. She stands unique to all soldiers, to be the first and only female ever to join in the war

The people of the Sun Kingdom had spread the rumors about a lady who had joined the military

"It was unbelievable," they said, "a pretty girl joining a war?"

Although what the rumor didn't mention, was that this woman is the daughter of the recent general. He raised as a weapon who will slaughter her targets and follow every order given to her. Now she's fifteen, yet she surprises everyone when she led a steady army for five years. She never fails her tasks and remained loyal to one master in all her life.

Despite her scars at certain aspects of her body, her fair skin remained sleek and soft, gaunt yet natural. Her golden blond hair, messy and not given attention at all. It slides down her shoulders and to her tapered waist, pretty as silk, feels like one too they said. Her expression shows no care for the world and her lips are soft in light rose, beaming under the rays of the sun. Her eyebrows, never bothered, not one emotion shown at all.

And her eyes, people say that without it she's not beautiful at all. While others say that it's what makes her stand out from other women.

It's the eyes that keep her admirers awake at night, it's Sapphire blue. Luminescent in dull oceans, like gems in her eye sockets filtered in different shades of blue. At first-glance shows innocence, It's as if she has not slain a single soul in her entire existence. Her fragile posture despite her massacre record during her wars at the age of eight.

A sinner in the form of an angel, a complete deceptive being

She paces down the hall of crowded soldiers, with clothing covered in bloodstains. All eyes on her as she walks with confidence, yet somehow to have overwhelming danger. She enters her room and waited for an old friend when a shooting pain spread across her stomach. She only noticed her wound when she let her hand graze over it.

"Gosh, what happened?" Lady Cloud exclaimed as she entered the room with a pile of books in her arms, to her surprise. Eve lay flat on the ground bathing in her own blood.

Eve turn her head to her "I don't know" she said in a monotone voice "I think I'm injured"

"You think?" She turns Eve face up to inspect her wound, once she found a huge open sore on her stomach. She stood up and placed the books she was carrying down on a rounded table "What happened? How did you get this wound?"

Eve thought for a moment "no wonder my vision felt odd"

"Eve!" Lady Cloud repeated, "what happened?"

She rubbed her wound and averted her eyes away "I think my soul is going to separate from me any minute now." Forcing Lady Cloud to ask her question later and left to call a doctor

"A Cootlas attacked you?" Lady Cloud said in disbelief. Eve is now laying on a bed with her stomach patched up and Lady Cloud sitting on a chair beside her, eating a tasty snack

"How come a blind hawk had a better chance of striking a hit on you than an army?" She placed her hands steady on her waist waiting for her response. Lady Cloud Courlay had known Eve since they were six, and she would've believed that a blind hawk did attack her. If she didn't know her to be a responsible person, also to have lived most of her entire life on a battlefield.

She said nothing and turn her attention to the nearby window, she lets the silence sink in for a little longer as the graven image of her Father's corpse remained running across her mind "yeah, a blind hawk attacked me, it was... unpredictable" she whispered, almost inaudible.

Lady Cloud isn't an idiot to simply ignore Ivo's odd behavior, she is the daughter of the town's mayor. And she's been to every funeral every week, she didn't miss Eve's father and the very thought of it addled her mind.

As minutes passed by without notice, something sparks her memory, Lady cloud shot up to her feet "Oh Eve! I almost forgot this came by your mail earlier this morning"

"Mail?" She repeated, she almost forgot those things even exist since no one had even sent her one before. she reaches over and grabs it, immediately you'd know this was something you wouldn't pass up. Fancy calligraphy adorns the letter referring to have come from a wealthy family. She opened the mail and draw out the paper.

Lady Cloud waited as Eve scan her eyes through it "What did it say?" She said as she leans towards her

Eve stared into the distance, perturbed "Ordered to the palace?"

"What!" Her lady's hand streaked to the paper and snatched it out of her's, she reads it with a wide grin "silly! You're invited to meet the royal family!"

"Why would his Highness bring me to his presence?"

"Are you nuts Eve?" she looks up to her and her plain expression says it all "your the Kingdom's best warrior, why wouldn't they? Oh, oh-oh! Wait let's dress you out of those-uh, clothes..." Gesturing to Eve's torn and stained outfit. "Wait, I have a great idea why don't I give you a makeo—" but as she turns, Eve was no longer there with her.

Her Lady pouted, both arms crossed as she gave a disappointed sigh "That ungrateful woman"

Eve went ahead across the road and tuck herself with a cloak, as much as she wants to look neat for the Royalty, she would. But not in the hands of Cloud Courlay

There was once a time when she allowed Lady Cloud to 'doll her up' all she wanted because she insisted. And by that she meant, begged. Eve tried but never again after a glitter had gotten into her eyes and caused it to throb for days.

Every time she would bring that up her simple excuse was "I was ten back then"

I don't buy it

Eve stands by the end of the path, where the fences end and a huge wooden frame stating farewell as you leave. She gazes back one last time on the place she grew in, she never thought that she would ever journey out of her quiet town.

It never even crossed her mind, not once. This first step out in a foreign place, Eve doesn't quite know what to think of it. She jumps behind the cart of a moving horse, unnoticed, and gazes upfront. There in the far distance, the massive palace towers over her. The rest of the buildings in the country, looming under the great sun. As it can't even match half the size of it, although unfortunately, it still doesn't seem to excite her.

This is a visit to a place most can hardly gaze it's interior and face the royal family. An ability that only the prosperous can do.

She turns her attention to the huge barrier that lines up to the left side of their kingdom. The barrier that separates the enemy's Kingdom from theirs, these two races discriminate. And have been in war for many years up until today, the only thing that was stopping them was the barrier itself. Soft as air, and transparent like glass. But if one tries to cross to the other, the barrier prevents them like a solid wall.

Only in every third month, the barrier disappears and allow each race to enter each territory. And that's where she comes in, war. A smile plays on the edge of her lips as the very thought of it entertains her, it's the only thing she looks forward to.

It's a habit that she couldn't control.
