1 Chapter 1: Prologue

"You're already promised to be married to my best friend's daughter." Senior Mr. Li strictly informed his son, Ethan Li.

Ethan, who aloofly sat on his chair, clenched his fist until they turned white.

His eyes turned cold as he stared at the man before him.

"Who is she?" He grumbles.

Senior Mr. Li smirked. "Oh, I'm pretty sure you know her very well." He said in a taunting tone.

Ethan raised his eyebrow in confusion.

"Who?"

"The CEO of the White Phoenix Empire, Lillie Bai."

"Young Master Li, I'm hoping that you've been relayed with insight on today's objectives with me?" A beautiful yet cold and stoic woman spoke monotonously.

"As a matter of fact, Young Madam Li, yes, I've been informed of this 'wonderful' news, you see." Ethan Li said, nonchalantly sipping his wine.

Lillie Bai simply blinked, unamused and unaffected by his statement.

"You forget your manners, Young Master Li. Do address me with formality." She crossed her arms. "I insist."

Ethan raised his eyebrow. "Oh? Calling you Young Madam Li isn't formal enough for you?"

"In all honesty, it sounds unbefitting." She bluntly retorted but manage to maintain a polite tone. Her dissaproval of the title was loud and clear to everyone but Ethan Li.

Either one is deaf or has an IQ below 100, anyone would be able to deduce that Lillie Bai isn't having it with Ethan Li's shamelessness

That, or he's just deliberately playing clueless. 

"Well, I do hope you get used to it, Young Madam Li, because everyone will be calling you that for the rest of your life." Ethan Li leaned forward, propping his elbows over the table with clasped hands under his chin. He shot the woman across him a devilish and triumphant smile as if he'd won a nobel prize. 

Lillie Bai didn't back down and shot him a condescending look, the corner of her lips twitch unnoticeably. 

"Shameless."
