6 Chapter 4: Welcome to Baothien, Ayumi’s Worries

⟨MC POV – 'Ayumi'⟩

As I slowly open my eyes, I notice that Touya is holding me in his embrace, when I look up to his face, I can see that he is asleep.

I stare at his face for a few minutes, I cannot help but smile when I look at him.

Wait a second, I look around, that is when I realise that was not a dream, 'no, no, no, this cannot be right'.

"This cannot be happening…" I whispered to myself.

I grab on to Touya's shirt, and I shove my face into his chest and start sobbing.

I start thinking about the situation we are in; I do not understand why this is happening to us.

My head is feeling fuzzy…

"…"

What is happening…

"…"

I do not understand…

"…"

After a few minutes of randomly running through fuzzy and confusing scenarios in my head that is making me feel like I am going crazy.

"…"

All of a sudden, my confused and fuzzy train of thought was shattered when I felt something soft and warm pressed against my lips.

I open my eyes to see Touya kissing me, it really shocked me since we were not alone.

"Do you feel better now, Ayumi?"

"Huh… w-why did you… there are other people—"

Touya put his finger on my lips, and then he starting to speak.

"You were unresponsive, I tried to snap you out of it by trying to talk to you, and by shaking you, but when I didn't get any response from you, I knew that the only way I'd be able to get through to you, and that was with a kiss".

"Oh, I see, I never noticed a thing, I am sorry brother".

"There's no need to apologise, I'm just happy that you're ok".

"Thank you, brother, I am so happy you are here, I do not know what I would do if you were not here…" I say as I hug Touya.

"I love you Touya" I give him a peck on the lips and then I give him a hug.

"I love you too Ayumi…" he had the sweetest smile when he said that, but then he had a serious look on his face, when he started to speak to me.

"What happened with you earlier, I'm really worried about you?" he exclaimed in an anxious and uneasy tone.

How do I explain what I am worried about when I am not sure myself!

"I am not sure what is wrong, all I can remember is, that when I woke, I saw you holding me as you slept, which made me happy, but…"

I took a deep breath and continued.

"As I was looking at your sleeping face, I noticed something in the corner of my eye, I had a flash of what happened up until now…"

A single tear fell.

"I realised it was not a dream, although it does seem like a nightmare, that is when I started to think about what could have happened to us, the more I thought about it, the more my mind started racing, after a few moments my head started feeling weird, my mind felt a little fuzzy, and was getting worse, everything was starting to get all fuzzy and confusing…"

I looked at Touya with a trembling look on my face.

"I do not know what happened next, although, I felt like I was lost somewhere far away from you, which really frightened me…"

I grabbed his hand, with a tight grasp, fearing that if I were to let go of his hand, I would never see my brother again.

"Thankfully you brought me back, with a kiss no less, when I noticed you were kissing me, I was nervous others might see, but at the time I had not yet realised what had happened…"

Tears started to stream down my face, except this time, they were tears of joy, because I know that Touya will always save and protect me.

I had a beaming smile as I spoke once again.

"Thank you big brother, you are always there to save me when I need it, I am grateful for everything you do for me, you have always taken care of me, I want to show you my thanks, but I am not sure how, I will find a way, I promise you that".

Touya looked at me for a few moments before he gave me the sweetest and most reassuring smile.

"You don't need to thank me, I'll always look out for you, you know that, and I'll always keep you safe".

"I am really happy that you are with me, I could not have coped on my own…"

I lean into his chest and continue.

"What do you think is going to happen to us now?"

"I'm not sure, but I think we will find out when that woman comes back to talk to us" he reassured me, while stroking my back.
