Chapter 22 - Saemi poisoned

After the fight against the Orc, I went back to where Saemi and I were camping, as soon as Saemi noticed me she approached with an anxious expression on her face.

"Makoto, are you alright? I heard a roar coming from the forest"

Saemi asked.

"I'm fine, a monster appeared while I was drinking water but I already defeated it, besides, thanks to that I got a very useful power"

I said while I had a smile on my face.

"Um? what do you mean by that?"

Saemi asked suspiciously, still with a smile on my face I used my dark manipulation power to make a sword, Saemi was looking intently at what I was going to do next, with Saemi paying attention to my next actions I bring the sword closer to my arm and make a cut.

"M-Makoto, what are you doing"

An extremely worried Saemi took my arm and began to examine my wound.

"It's okay, look"

I said with a smile on my face.

"W-What? what's going on?"

Asked a confused Saemi, before Saemi the blood that was oozing began to return to the wound and in a few seconds the wound was fully healed.

"See, now I have a regeneration power"

I said while showing a smile, but even though I showed Saemi that I was fine she inflated her cheeks in a cute way, I wonder if I made her angry.

"What happened Saemi?"

I asked.

"Don't ever do that again, do you know how worried you made me?"

When Saemi said this, I could see that her eyes were watery, it really looked like she was going to cry, seeing that I probably hurt Saemi I quickly apologized.

"Ok, I'm sorry about that, I promise I won't do that anymore so don't cry"

I said while hugging Saemi as Saemi hugged me back.

"You promise?"

Hearing Saemi's question I let out a small sigh.

"I promise"

And so Saemi and I continued hugging for some time until she calmed down, after what happened between me and Saemi we were both going to explore the second floor again, it's not like we were expecting much but still it's not like we had a choice, with this in mind Saemi and I went to the second floor, as always, this swamp was a difficult place to walk, the water although it was not deep still hindered some of the locomotion, besides it is not very comfortable to walk through a swamp.

"I really hate this floor"

While we were walking Saemi spoke up next to me, I really have to agree with her about this, I wonder what criteria these gods used when making these floors, maybe the floors weren't even made by the same gods, when we talk about existences as gods anything is possible.

"I agree with you, but unfortunately we have no choice, if we don't look for the boss we will be stuck here forever"

Hearing my words Saemi lowers her head and gets a somber expression, after that we continue exploring the second floor for a while but as usual, we don't find anything, it really makes me wonder how big this place is.

"I think we'd better get back"

I said after seeing that it would soon get dark.

"I agree, besides, I want to take a ban..."

As I spoke Saemi suddenly became quiet, finding Saemi's sudden silence strange I look at her trying to see if there was something wrong.

As soon as I asked this Saemi slowly started to turn towards me but there was something strange, for some reason you could see a green liquid rising up Saemi's body through her veins.

In broken lines Saemi suddenly fell towards me, still not understanding what was happening I looked at Saemi's body trying to understand what that green liquid was and as soon as I looked at Saemi's leg I realized there was something there, a small white snake had its mouth stuck on Saemi's leg.

Without a second thought I cut the snake in half but still Saemi looked extremely sick.

(What just happened? Saemi was poisoned? How? Was that a snake?)

Several questions were swirling around in my head, I really wasn't getting the situation straight.

While thinking about what had just happened, I suddenly heard several roars coming from deep in the forest, soon several eyes began to appear in the darkness of the approaching night.

"What the hell is going on?"

Although I didn't ask anyone specifically a very familiar voice made itself present in my mind.

"My goodness, this is bad enough, she has been bitten by the most poisonous monster on the second floor"

said aurora in my mind.

"What? But why are there so many monsters coming at this time?

I asked confused by the situation, me and Saemi have been on the second floor long enough to understand, this place and composed of insect type monsters among others, but still all the monsters we encountered seemed to be ignoring us.

"Well, that's because the second floor is made up of opportunistic monsters, most of them only attack when they see they have a high chance of success, it's not that they weren't attacking you, but that they were waiting for the right opportunity to do so"

Although Aurora-sama was saying something I couldn't concentrate, the various eyes that were coming from the forest finally showed themselves, praying mantises, bees, ants, and centipedes, and these were just the beginning, they were all giants and the way they looked at us was clearly showing that they were seeing us as food.

"That's bad, we need to get out of here"

With that in mind I picked Saemi up in a princess lap and quickly tried to go to the second floor, but something unexpected happened.
